Glad to see him at least get a chance to start the ninth, and get a well deserved standing ovation.Hoping Billy Wagner can just put it away ,crossing fingers!

The piercing, glass shattering primal scream is the union of Mets fans worldwide cursing Wagner's name for all eternity as he gives up a demoralizing three run, game tying homer in the top of the ninth to Mark Reynolds whom he had on the ropes and had struck out three eimes tonight!Mark Pelfrey's brilliant game all for nothing....damn hope the Mets can steal it back in the bottom of the ninth.

I poured two shots of vodka after that to keep me from shoving the A/C out the window. I hope I won't need any more tonight!

I can't get that picture of Pelfrey's face after seeing that ball sail out of the park and fucking up his win. I wish Willie had left Pefrey in to pitch a complete game.
One man on and Willie panics and pulls the trigger, I am so disgusted.

Later, Willie said "the important thing is we got the win"
NO Wilie. the important thing is you fucked Pelfrey OUT of a win.

I was so happy and impressed with Pelfrey tonight, he even got his first ML hit.
Thanks Mets fans for that standing ovation after he struck out. THAT'S class.
Willie and Wagner will be on my shit list for a long time now.

I'm thrilled for the win,but Wagner couldn't even let a 3 run lead hold up.....those are the gimmes for the closers.I was bummed Pelfrey didn't get a decision,I don't know if I would have left him out after the leadoff hit but I'm telling you Wagner is a real concern now...two big spots and two really demoralizing home runs.Thank goodness for Carlos Beltran's two run shot to win it in the 13th,or no telling how big a psychological blow his home run to Mark Reynolds would have dealt the Mets.

Smith,Wagner,Heilmann....
The Mets Poison Pen Strikes Again!AAAAARGH!!!!:grrr::mad:

Johann Santana pitches seven innings of three hit ball, strikes out ten and the Mets cannot hold a late 4-0 lead. This is pathetic...we may lose this season out of the bullpen after all the fucking problems this team has displayed this year.Great starts go for naught and as much as I resperc Billy Wagner for taking responsibility especially for his crappy performance of late,he had better start showing results soon wuith the rest of the bullpen or no matter what effort the Mets put out on the field, this season will be laid to waste.

I love this team, sonny does,we have quite a few Mets fans here who are really down on this club right now because they just cannot maintain any consistency, especially now with the bullpen failing to hold things together.Just so frustrating and demoralizing right now to be a Mets fan.:(

I went totally out of my mind when Wagner did it again!!
He was the only stable player we had, and now he's gone back to his losing ways.

listen, the Mets are in deep shit right now, except, for now, the starting pitching which kis holding it together, nothing else is working.
They can't play together has a team, when the offensive plays well the pitching stinks, and when the starting pitching is doin ok, as it is now, the bull pen stinks.
They are not playing good baseball and I wonder if they are just an average team and will remain average or below for the rest of the season. There is not much they can do as far as trades go, if that ever happens I don't see it till next year, God I wish we could get Nady back. I still believe firing Willie wil not help as well. It's the whole team that has got to start clicking again, or maybe they just can't.
We have no left fielder, it's time for Alou to hang it up. He was an awesome player, one of the best, but his age is caching up to him and his body no longer works, he has got to quit. By the way, what ever happened to Gomez? he showed possibilities, but after he flew over that wall we never saw him again. Our first baseman is a disaster, how much longer can we hold on to him, and why would we want to. We need Church back asap lets hope he heals and is back soon. Reyes is still our best palyer, when he wants to be. I have not given up on him yet. Wright, well I don't understand what the hell is wrong with that kid, when he slumps he slumps hard. He is doing all the wrong things at the plate and it could not have come at a worse time. I mean it goes on and on with all of the guys, I just don't know no what to say anymore they are painful to watch, and I no longer have the hope I had that they are going to pull out of this, there is just nothing to justify my feeling optimistic anymore. The fire and the magic is gone, the scappy Mets team I love is dead. Sorry guys I do not see them coming out of this, Of course a lot of teams are playing poorly this year so maybe a run for the wild card but that's about it.
I love my team, over the years I have gotten to know each of their weaknesses and strenghts, but I can not for the life of me figure out what they can do to pull it together, there is just to much bleeding in too many areas.
My love for baseball and the Mets is well known amoungst all of my family and friends, and no one is giving me a bad time about the current situation, it is just not something anyone finds funny. In years past when ever the Mets played bad baseball they would kid me abut it, buy not this year cause they know just how painful it is for me. It's that bad.

^ Sorry the Mets aren't doing to good this year, ......

But the NY Yankees aren't doing much better either!

Yeah, it's the only thing keeping me sane. Thanks for the comforting words.

I'm feeling the same way, sonny.I just don't have the optimism this year.I read something by Darryl Strawberry saying that the Mets back in his day would never let anything get to them, but this team is too sensitive to the criticism coming from everywhere....I agree, they act like they are walking on egg shells. He feels for Willie and thinks he shouldn't bear the bruint of the fans wrath.

I was reading a devastating piece on Omar Minaya, questioning why he isn't bearing a good share of the blame. After stating the Mets goal as a club a few years back is getting a highly competitive, younger, athletic and defensive minded club he kept bringing in older players in key regular slots and the bench. He drafts this year two strong offensive players who are decent defensively in the first round but who lack great range and athleticism. He did get Ryan Church, but even with the concussion debacle has messed up with him asnd God knows when he returns fully recovered.Alou is just too old and britle for this club,Castillo's four year signing(taking him to 37)when he clearly has lost a bit of range and speed was unfathomable. And of course, giving up young Scott Kazmir for the Zambrano who was a total bust just did not make sense.I'm just in agreement with those who think Omar Minaya should be nervously watching over his shoulders and have to do a damn better job to keep his.He doesn't have appeared to treat the collapse last September with the urgency and decisiveness he should have seen was needed...an epic collapse was just spinned as a losing streak at the wrong time.

It's really sad to see such a huge Mets fan as yourself really so down....I know there will be better day,but truth is right now I'm really close to where your feeling about this club and it's not fun when you can't have the slightest bit of faith in this team.A wild card run is possible, but noone is expecting much from a very flawed club with a messed up psyche.Mets fans didn't think it would get to this after the ride of 2006 that ended so sadly in St. Louis, and last year's assured first place finish that wound up a premature assumption of entitlement.A Mets club who have so much potential but have failed to earn anything as of yet.:(

Sausy I wish I could write more about this but I just haven't got in in me right now. Maybe in a day or two after I have thought more about it.
You mentioned Omar who is a sore spot with me, He was in the booth yesterday talking about the situation and really not saying anything to ease my pain. As a matter of fact listening to him talk I got the impression he is in denial about it all.

No problem sonny,I understand how you feel knowing how true blue a Mets fan you are.(*8*)After awhile, you find it hard to talk about it anymore.I hope that the ones who could jar Omar back to reality, the Wilpons, who are as huge baseball fans as anyone(Fred Wilpon went to school with and is very close friends with Sandy Koufax)make their displeasure felt soon. They didn't invest this much time and effort in owning the club and putting together a world class new stadium meant to rekindle thoughts of baseball's iconic Ebbets Field because they saw owning the Mets as an ego trip. They love and live and breathe Mets orange and blue.

WOW, great effort on the Mets to pull out what could have been an amazin comeback. To bad Alomar made that dumb decision to send Schnider in the 8th.
I guess sandy does not know Brian can't run ](*,)

Cost us the win. that and another poison pen as my buddy Sausy would say

Looks like SNY will carry game 2 at 5:05, gonna go some dinner and settle in for another game. Lets go Mets, win this series.

Well they pulled off a W in the second game. I didn't watch. I saw the first one. Disappointing as usual lately.

I'm going to two games against the Mariners next week, Monday and Tuesday. Will anyone else be out there?

i have tix for the tues june 24th game vs. the marlins

bought 10 games for the year

kinda bummed how they're playing

i think willie needs to go - they need a kick in the ass IMO

The guys need a kick in the ass for sure, but I don't agree Willie is the only problem. I want him to stay, there is talk that Jerry Manuel could take over.
I don't think that would make any sense at all, Jerry will do nothing to turn this team around.

There is a lot of talk and speculation about what is wrong with the Mets. Quite frankly I am sick of hearing and reading about it. Leave Wille alone is all I am saying, firing him is not the answer.
When a manager gets fired, often the team morale sinks, which is what would happen with the Mets. Just about all the guys have said and agree that Willie is not the problem.
Lets see what happens after this west coast trip.

Could someone else like a Lee Mazzilli do a better job, well... maybe,
but I am a Wille Randolph supporter and not ready to give up on him yet.

Man oh man when will it stop.

Every day all sports people talk about is how much longer Willie be around.
I get to the cages today and get into an argument with this dude who insists Willie is toast and will get the axe this weekend.
Look, the Mets problems are NOT gonna go away by firing Willie.

The problem is deeper than Willie, the problem lies with the players.
But they had a decent showing against the Rangers, especially that first game of the double header where they lost by one run. They played hard, they were scrappy and we got a real taste of how the Mets used to play.
I was happy with that series.
Unfortunately I don't see them continuing tonight in LA, i think they ae gonna get clocked. That team is playing great ball and the Mets have their work cut out to beat them. I see 1-3 at best out there. but does that mean they fire Willie?? No it does not. I want no action taken against him till after the All-Star break in a month, let's see where they are by then. listen all the Mets need is one or two good series to be back in the game again. But it ain't happening in LA.

As for changes, I am not even ready to give up on Rick Peterson yet, I now some are thinking he will be the one to go or maybe get fired along with Willie, possibly replaced by Dan Warthen out of New Orleans, he is well liked by the organization. As for the other rumors of firing other coaches, well not yet. I want HoJo to stay a while longer and I see no point in the rumor about Tom Nieto, I mean what the hell will that do?? it's just nuts.

Meanwhile Church is doing really well and should be 100% by the time the boys come back to NY, and that is very good news. In addition Trot Nixon had a good game his first day.

My point about Peterson is based on what I have seen with all the starters lately, they have played well this last week, Johan, Pedro, Mike and even crazy ole Ollie all had great outings. I am not worried about Billy, he had a slump, they all get them, it just came at a bad time. If the Mets were not in the situation they are in we prolly would not have come down on him so bad.

So hang in there Mets fans, even if the LA series goes bad, (and it will) they are coming back. Ya gotta believe.

Well I am so happy to say I was wrong about our boys. I thought the Angels would beat em.
First game went better than I thought, Pelfrey pitched a decent game, not great but a positive outing and his first win since April. Even Heilman got it done again! He is getting it together, and wagner put it away in the 9th. Great game,
I can go to bed with sugar plums dancing in my head. How gay is that?

The only down side to today is, the Phillies, Marlins and Atlanta all won as well, so we did not pick up any ground.

The up side, Willie is still manager ;)

Billy Wagner's save wasn't artistic, but he got it done despite causing major agita to develop.Wright is busting out of his slump....Beltran was terrific with two homers as a DH.Jose Reyes is so important to how this club goes, glad to see him get going again.Much better clutch hitting tonight.

Pelfrey wasn't as good as his last start, but was pretty decent, and glad to see him finally getting a W after two months....Aaron Heilman really did a superb job holding the Angels after Feliciano just couldn't get it done.Great clutch job.He has so much talent, even with all his problems I want him to get it together and like he usually does finish the year strong.Duaner Sanchez gets props too for keeping the Angels in check.

I totally agree with you sonny about leaving Willie Randolph alone.Jerry Manuel would be a poor choice to succeed Willie, and certainly doesn't have the fier, motivational temperament that would result in the Mets playing any better.Hopefully they play consistent the rest of the way and even talk of coaching changes don't materiailize into realization. You're right as usual sonny...Mets fans gotta believe we're over the worst and better ties are ahead!Glad to see Churchie responding well and his concussion symptoms appear to be clearing and he'll be back soon...I love what Trot Nixon brings to the club, and he is also kinda hot!

Screw those Red Sox!:grrr:I hold my nose and pray they beat the Philllies tonight, they lose handily!

Dreaming of sugar plums dancing in his head?I think sonny really is going to dream of Abs coming out from under his bed,and whatever cums next!;)
