New York Mets 2009

What a disaster! Let's see if we can NOT schedule a trip to Pittsburgh anymore. More playing down to an opponent's level. Hopefully we can just cross this off as a bad Pelfrey outing, just an aberration. The news on Reyes is not good with a hamstring tear. They take a looooong time to heal. J.J. Putz to NY for another elbow exam, and possible surgery. On the plus side Carlos Beltran seems to have no "ill" effects from his virus, pardon the pun, as he had two extra base hits. Let's hope Sean Green's recent pitching is indicative of a more steady performance the rest of the way, we really need him now in the seventh inning, leading to Parnell and KRod. Let's pound the Nats. Let's Go Mets!

Good post syam.
It was a big loss for Big Pelf yesterday. Mike seemed to have lost his command especially with his slider. I did not see him use his fastball inside to the lefties which he generally does. I was confused by that. I wonder if Santos had anything to do with it. Watching him call the game I think that was part of the problem. O course Pelf is a total pro and would never suggest such a thing but take it from me something was up between Pelf and Santos and the way that game was called.

Once again Sean Green had an excellent outing, he showed us a great sinker and is throwing harder He no longer reminds me of Aaron Heilman.
J.J. Putz, on the other hand, continues to stink up the mound, but finally he and the Mets have admitted there may be something wrong with him, well, duh!
J J will go to New York today for a medical exam, there is a strong possibility that he may end up needing surgery. We now finally know that his elbow hurts, and he is in pain when he pitches. I recall that Putz received an anti-inflammatory shot earlier in the season to help with that spur, but that is just temporary, Putz knew then that he will need surgery but wanted to put it off.
Sounds like Maine all over again; obviously that was a bad call. Get better JJ

Next up what to do about Redding, he will pitch tonight and if that goes badly the Mets will have to find a way to replace him. Tim will have to go to the pen maybe as a long man, which will allow Stokes to become our situational reliever along with Takahashi, Felliciano and green. Then we would have Parnell in the 8th who would then give the ball to K-Rod to close.

Of course the rumors are heating up again (did they ever die down) regarding the Mets and the A’s Matt Holliday and Astros Carlos Lee.
Holliday will be a free agent at the end of this season, Lee, is due $18.5 million this season, 2010, 2011, and 2012. Then he is eligible to be a free agent.
The Trade Deadline is be Friday, July 31. Stay tuned kids.

Ryan Church is expected back in the lineup on Sunday, so what will that mean for Fernando Martinez? The Mets will need to decide whether to keep Martinez here or send him back to AAA Buffalo.
Looks like it will be similar to the Castro/Santos situation; the Mets will make the decision base on how well Church returns and how well Martine plays. Fernando after a rocky start has improved both his offense and defense. But from what I see maybe not enough to keep him and not use him all that much, he needs to play every day. I dono how I feel cause I love Church but I worry if he will come back strong and I also love what Martinez has been doing. On one hand if the kid is gonna spend much of his time on the bench it would ne better for him and ultimately for the Mets if he goes back to AAA where he can get more playing time and develop his skills. On the other hand we may need him here to fill in for Sheffield who is struggling with his hammy I am sure we will know what they decide by this weekend.

As syam mentioned Reyes had another setback, he was examined Thursday at a Hospital for Special Surgery. Jose has a tear in his right hamstring tendon; he will rest for the next two days, and then be reevaluated. I don’t want to sound pessimistic but don’t be surprised if you don’t see Jose back for a while. This injury has the potential of being that serious.

It was great to see Beltran in the lineup; he sure showed no ill effects of his illness, hitting that home run as well as a double. Welcome back Carlos!.

This has been a strange season for our Mets, its fun however to see some of my friends who are Yankee fans rallying around me and not rubbing all the crap that has been going down with my team lately in my face. Thanks guys! (*8*)

Of course it was helped by my dad who when we played pool the other night gave all the boys a warning
“Lay off the kid”

Tim Redding was on his game again last night.
I was surprised Manual took him out after 6 but I guess he wanted to play it safe. Dono why though cause Tim was hitting al the right spots. It was an important game for Tim cause his job is basically on the line. Over the last two starts Tim has been able to go to a level of pitching I have been waiting for him to reach. Once again the pen, sans JJ, got the job done brilliantly, and Frankie now has 15 saves!
JJ Putz is done for at least three months, he will have the surgery to remove that bone spur. Funny thing is I am not all hat worked up about that cause of the confidence I now have in the pen. So get well, JJ but we will be fine without him. Another interesting story is Billy Wagner. You guys may remember a while back I said he might be back this year? Well it is looking like a very strong possibility that he will return as early as late August. Now I know Billy had given us his share of drama but that was cause he was hurt. Maybe Billy will come back strong and give us a boost in the pen perhaps pitching in the 7th or even the 8th with Parnell.

Reyes with his latest setback won’t be back now for prolly a month and that concerns me. Cora is good but he is no Jose Reyes, plus he is playing with a bad thumb, I worry that may develop into a problem for him. So far he is playing ok but ya gotta wonder.

Church returns Sunday and then w will see what the Mets do with Martinez,
We should at least keep him through the Yankees series when we have the DH. That position would be great for Sheffield allowing Martinez to stay around to play in the outfield. I really want to see Fernando hang out for Interleague play. Even though he struck out with the bases loaded yesterday. ](*,)

My boy D Wright has been coming back to life and man is that ever a relief. Last nights game winning double had me jumpin outta my chair. Gary Cohen was so funny last night speaking of David. In one play David had gotten two safe calls from the umpires wher he looked to be out. Once going into second and then another into third. David was clearly out at third, Zimmerman made the tag but the umpire gave the call to David. But then in the same inning David tried to go home he was nailed at the plate.
Gary exclaimed “And David Wright is finally out”

Tonight it’s John Maine facing John Lannan.

A sorta ugly win last nite, but a win is a win. More base running follies as you mentioned, Sonny. Was glad to read that Jerry Manuel called D. Wright and Beltran into his office and talk to them about their baserunning exploits. Trying too hard and pushing the envelope is not what is needed, especially in the situations they tried to do them. You cannot give poorer teams opportunities to stay in the game with you, must put them away and not "give" them outs, make them earn them. I'm not saying to not be aggressive, but there's a time and place. Making the first or third out of inning at third base is a cardinal sin in baseball. Enuff of that, Mets win, Phils lose, a good night. Let's Go Mets!

As if we did not have enough injuries now John Maine who had a very very bad start yesterday, allowing three long homeruns and was removed in the fifth inning after allowing seven runs on six hits. Said that he still felt tightness in the area where doctors removed a bone spur from his throwing shoulder last season

Perfect!

Of course Maine was not the only problem, our offense hit into five double plays, and were pretty much useless. If this is the best we can do against a team like the National what the Hell is gonna happen next week against the Phillies and Yankees. :help:

I am not going to write anymore today, I am just too frustrated.
I have a Golf game today and I am gonna take my frustration out on a little ball with a big stick. ](*,)

Much better result on Sunday with Livan doing a masterful job of pitching. Early jump on the Nats in the first set my mind at ease. John Maine looked very fatigued to me on Sat, like he has not fully recovered from his virus. Sometimes it takes awhile to fully gain your strength back, and I'm sure an athlete feels it even more. David Wright continues on a roll, and Murph kicked in with a couple of hits. Appears the Phils will be throwing lefties all 3 games, so we'll need a big effort from D.W. and Sheffield this week. Let's go Mets!!

God post Syam, you and I think the same way when it comes to the Mets.

Like you wrote Livan Hernandez was awesome again, shutting out the Nats through seven innings and 116 pitches. He is getting his ERA down it is now 3.88.
I also agree about John Maine, many people thought he was just still weak from the illness which had to have taken a lot out of him. Others are hoping it’s not a “tired arm”

And yes, Murphy did notch it up not only at the plate, with those opposite field hits, but playing First as well. I thought that 3-6-3 double play he turned was awesome. Now if Daniel could start o hit like Delgado I won’t miss Carlos at all.

I also thought Ryan Church looked pretty good as well. I wondered how he would come back. Manual must have had a tough choice for the #5 spot, prolly was not sure to use Church or Murphy, both hit well so it did not make much difference in yesterdays game. Which ever of those two boys continues to get the job done needs to play fifth cause we need that protection for Beltran and Wright.

You mentioned the Phillies lefties, but did you guys notice the perfect matchup all three days?

Tuesday, Santana 2.00 and Happ 2.48
Wednesday, Pelfrey .4.85 and Hamels 4.40
Thursday, Redding 6.97 and Moyer 6.27

Could not be a better matchup ..|

I dono what it is cause a couple of days ago I was very concerned about the Mets against the Phillies and Yankees, but for some reason and I can’t explain why, I feel better about it today. 4 outta 6 would be sweet, but I would be more than happy with 3 of 6, just don’t want the opposing teams doing any sweeping.
Like I always say ya gotta believe.

who can figure this team?

after giving up a 3-0 lead with santana on the mound after he gives up a 3rd HR - this to Jimmy Rollins, a 2 run shot

and then tatis gets thrown out at the plate with no outs on a ground ball by church ........

they come back and win 6-5

KRod does it again after Pedro shuts the door with DP ball

and santana gets into it with jerry for taking him out

who can figure?

love it

going tomorrow night - pelphrey i think is pitching

been away a bit guys

back

Great to see you back posting here chance, I love some of your observations.

The thing about Santana is although he did not have his best stuff, he kept bouncing back from those Philles homers. Those hone runs cost him cause his ERA has jumped to 2.36. He also contributed big time at the plate with that awesome “butcher boy” double that brought home was later to be the difference in the ball game. When he showed bunt and then blasted that double I literally jumped out of my chair. The guy is a stud no question about it. But Manual did the right thing in pulling him, I hated to see that cause I wanted him to at least get through the 8th. But after he allowed that home run to Utley which cut our lead to one run I knew it was time to give the ball up. He was not happy and pretty much said I don’t want to leave, I am sure that after reflection he realized that it was the right move. Especially with Feliciano coming on and getting the job finished with just 4 pitches to get three outs. :=D:

Holly smoke did you see the look on Frankie’s face as he pitched that ninth? He was on fire, the determination and focus was thrilling. His 16th save.

David Wright finally beat Citi Field and broke that homerless streak. David is back, he now has seven hits in his last 11 at-bats.

How happy was I to see Church crush that homer, right into the box that holds the Apple.

Could we have just one game without an umpire making a bad call? Come on, Tatis was NOT out the plate. These guys are often out of position and have missed too many calls this year. Back to umpire school ladies.

And come on, let’s hear it for Gary Sheffield, he dude can barely run wit his leg problems yet he continues to bust outta the box and put everything he has left to help the team. Considering the fact that he can’t run well right now he prolly should have settled for a single in what should have been a double, but I appreciate his effort. Now that’s a pro that’s what a veteran does, the kids need to learn from him. I accepted his being thrown out because of his hustle. I loved that!

I have to mention Jimmy Rollins who clearly stunk up the game with his shushing antics to the crowd after that homer, but that slide he made at second in the eighth keeping Cora from making the double play was dead on. That’s what ya gotta do and hats off to him for doing it. Even if it costs the out it still showed how defensive baseball is supposed to be played.

See you guys I love the game so much when it is played well I am even willing to give
that punk Rollins a shout out. ;)

I feel your frustration syam.

But you know what, I am very happy with how the Mets are coming together. The Pitching especially the relief has greatly improved. The boys are getting the bat on the ball, scoring runs and making things happen again. However the one bug-a-boo that remains is there propensity for leaving men stranded. We could/should have won that game many times over, but.....

At least D Wright has been on a tear although he chocked in late innings last night when we really need him, he has returned to form and I could not be happier about that. David also seems to have replaced Reyes in the stolen bases area this season. (16) already this year, which is more than he had all of last year (15)

Pefrey pitched better than Cole (the Mets are choke artists) Hamels in his six innings. He prolly stayed to long at the party and should have not gone back in. Pelf was uncharacteristically miffed by Utley’s call for a time out, Pelf did not like the timing of it I guess. In fact Wright, Manual and Warthen came out to the mound to calm him down but he never recovered after that. Big Pelf even managed two hits, a single and a double. I am sure he and his hitting rival John Maine had a great time with that.

I will say this about Hamels, he has an awesome changeup, I especially respect that and he way he can change speeds. The Mets were able to beat him though, too bad we fell apart after Cole left the game.

Unfortunately both Parnell and Green did us in last night along with some offense and defense fumbles (Wright and Castillo) Wrights blunder tied the game and Castillo’s ground out with two men on sent us into extra innings instead of winning the game.

Once again, and I seem to be mentioning this just about every other day, the umpires made a ridiculously bad call, this time it was Carlos Beltran who absolutely beat out that double play. By the way, when is manual gonna go out there and make a case for his guys with theses bad calls? I know it prolly won’t change the call but get out there and make support your guys.

Tonight it’s Tim Redding against Jamie Moyer

Lets go Mets

was at the game last nite

as we did station to station scoring - the phillie outfielders play so shallow - i worried about lost opps

and of course u know the rest

knocked around cole hammels and had 4 runs to show for it

beltran dropping that ball?
wright rushing the play?

phillies are winners
we are ......................... not winners

met some philly fans on the 7 train going to the game - had a great convo

as for the philly fans at the game - very uncouth

pelphrey deserved better

love alex cora

wright can steal bases better than anyone - his jumps on hammels were sick

not sure why we brought in sean green - manuel continues to unimpress

their lineup is much better/bigger than ours - it's a fact

gonna be a tough road

but the beer was cold :)

It has been since that dreadful collapse of September 2007 the Mets have played far too often without intelligence, passion, fundamentals, believing in themselves, heart. We make too many of the same damn mistakes, over and over and even our best players,David Wright,Carlos Beltran....they can't be fucking up like that, looking like amateurs either on the basepaths or on the field.God,I want to fire Omar Minaya straight away and bring in a tough,no nonsense management team who will get the best out of the players or send them to other teams who will tolerate their inability to maximize their skills, whomever shall be found to bite.

I am TIRED of a couple of good weeks leading into the same ineptitude and disappointment we have seen more than our fair share of.As always, the last two games proved whether through our own ineptitude or as Jayson Werth did to David Wright Wednesday night, breaking all Mets fans hearts....in the later innings,we find ways NOT to score. That Santana game win was great, and clutch....but we always give back that goodwill with drab, anticlimactic losing efforts afterwards instead of using it as major momentum to get the Mets started.

Phillies heart proved far better than the Mets in this round.God knows what the Yankees have in store for us after being swept in Boston. We lose the Yankee series,I just feel barring a major institutional cultural change in this club...we are for all intents and purposes done for this year.

John Maine has been put on the DL for what I heard was a dead arm, tell me is there ANYONE who will put up and rise up to the challenge and if there is a good run left in the Mets this year, lead it?

Pelfrey looked rattled by Philly....get over it and put down that lineup. When we have to rely on Livan Hernandez to stop these pussy footing around efforts, well he's been great but you don't want to be put in the position of depending on your fifth option as a savior along with Johann Santana.Livan is tough, but has hardly been the most consistent winner in his time and God knows how old he really is?

I tell you,if Mets fans had to rely on a sign from God,just one thing we can put our faith in that all would be well.....we'd be hardened, unrepentant, cynical and unwavering atheists by now.#-o

After watching the three game series it is easy to see why the Phillies are the world champs
I almost never watch them play except when the play the Mets. What a collection fiercely competitive and talented ball players they are. I was especially impressed by their defense which was pretty much perfect all three games.

I was satisfied that we were able to take at least one of the games and more importantly that we beat Hamels.
I may not like the Phillies but I respect their abilities and they way they play baseball. I am a Mets fan yes, but a baseball fan first. Tuesday's game was one of the best games I have ever seen in my life, excellent baseball from both teams. Phillies and Mets a true revelry you can feel in your bones, I love it!

Last night Redding had anther great outing and now with Maine down gain we are going to need guys like him, Pelf and Hernandez to step up and get the job done. I have no doubt that they will.
Big mistake putting Takahashi in the 10th, He was no match for those lefty Phillies hitters.

Tonight we begin a three game series with the Yankees with Hernandez and Chamberlain.
Will the Mets turn those games into a home run derby? Balls just continue to fly out of that new stadium.

Good chance Fernando Nieve may be our man on Saturday replacing Maine. I hope so; I wanna see what this kid can do. I also hope they don’t bring Figueroa up again, he has been pitching lousy for the Bisons.

Sonny,everyone.....after tonight what do we have to do to cease being laughing stocks?:grrr:Ok.....KRod tempted fate by not shuttingh down the Yankees, and walking Teixeira whom he has mastered in hisd career afyer allowing the single to Jeter. He came back nicely after being behind the count to A Rod......getting him to pop the ball over to second base and Luis "Fucking"Castillo stumbled dazed and confused and one handed the ball right off his glove!:eek:How does a supposed two time World Series "winner" continue to come off as a loser amateur in possibly the most embarassing, heartbreaking loss among of the year among so mamy heart breaking, morale crushing losses.

Sonny,my heart is with the Mets, you know I love my guys.....they battled and came back time and again but how many more ways can they find to ultimately break our hearts?:cry:A noble loser is still a loser when the standings are set!:(

I respect the Phillies too, hate em but love the rivalry.Great we got at Cole Hamels but we lost two games in heartbreaking fashion, never getting that extra edge and scoring late and Philly took advantage.A great game with the Yanks, but SAME result.I want to be proud of my Mets.....I want them to win more of these pressure games and series. They've lost TOO many crucial games since the infamous collapse of 2007 for me to be satisfied with anything else than a professional, get it done kind of result more often than not.Which clearly has not been the case in quite awhile.

Another fucking game we Mets fans will never be able to live down, god dammit!!!

Saucy has said it and I say it now, the Mets always seem to find a way to loose.
Sauch also said "Another fucking game we Mets fans will never be able to live down, god dammit"
Oh dude, I couild not have said it better. Chance, OMG is about all you can say.

When my cell rang just a few minutes after last night game, I answerd "WHAT"
my bud on the other end said "um, maybe I better call you tomorrow" to which I said "dude, I love ya but you got that right"

With Joba pitching so badly and knowing the weakness in the Yankee pen I thought we would have a decent chance to win yesterday.
Even though Joba gave us all those walks and hit a couple of batters, he only runs we scored was forced in runs. we did not even with the bases loaded twice manage to get a hit. ](*,)

Then when D Wright (.364) broke the tie with that clutch double to score Beltran and Frankie about to come in to close I was sure we had the win.
So what happens? Castillo decides he only needs one hand to catch that pop up.
When A-Rod slammed his bat to the ground after popping up I thought Yes! We won!
And then a second later I yelled out “are you kiddin me”
Enough about that cause my agida level is bouncing off the wall.

I love pitching, it is the part of baseball I am the most passionate about. So when we brought up Jon Switzer I was excited to see what the kid could do. Well he got rocked; I was not as upset about the three run homerun as I was to see him fail. I had hoped he was going to be our second left handed specialist to work with Feliciano but that ain’t what happened. His job was going to be to get the lefties out. But so far not so much. We can't couint on Takahashi either
It broke my heart to see the kid fail, but one strike does not mean you are out so I still have hoes for him.
Sean Green other than the two walks did a nice job, he continues to improve, I was worried for a while there that we had another Heilman on our hands but he is getting it together now.

Poor Frankie, his streak ended with num nutz Castillo’s unforgivable error.
TWO HANDS JACKASS, TWO HANDS WHEN YOU CATCH A POP UP BALL

I wonder how many of you guys are as concerned as I am about Martinez and Murphy. They are both lost, dazed and confused at the plate these days. I expected the scouts to get the book out on him and the pitchers to get Murphs number but he has to adjust and he’s not. I fact he is now lost his patience at the plate and swinging at every ball thrown to him. That is one the things I loved about Daniel, his patience at the plate, well he has lost that. Martinez is just plain awful and not at all as good as he was in the minors, dono whist happened to him but I expect he will be sent back down very soon. And that’s ok cause the kid needs more time.

Today it’s Fernando Nieve and Andy Pettitte
A refreshing surprise from Nieve would sure make up in some way for yesterday. We need him now..

Well,we got what we desperately needed from Nieve.....he was magnificent!Sonny, who is this guy? He's 27 but has really good stuff, and went almost seven innings before running out of gas.Two runs, four hits?In a must win fo the Mets?I'll gladly take it.6-2 no doubt about it win for the Mets over their crosstown AL Yankee rivals? We just needed the win ,thank you.....we've dealt with more than enough dramatics.

Rick Warthen's work with Sean Green has him back to that vital cog in the pen.....has been outstanding over his last several outings.

I loved Francisco Rodriguez' response after he was informed injured Yankee reliever Brian Bruney, after a minor league game said that K-Rod's first blown save of the year couldn't have happened to a better guy and baseball players were tired of his act.....basically"Who the fuck is this guy?Isn't he always injured or something?Don't take it to the press....I'm here at the stadium, tell it to my face"!Brian Bruney has some nerve to come up with a classless, ignorant thing to say.And K-Rod let him have it perfectly.

David Wright continues to be amazing,it's frustrating the Mets have lost the last four of five because he's pounding the ball at over a .500 clip his las few games!

Gary Sheffield is on a tear.....another home run today after one last night. He's got seven and has been every bit so far the tough veteran leader we hoped still had enough game left....he does it appears.Just hope his leg is healthy.

Omir Santos was excellent at the plate with two hits, three RBI including a big two run home run.He did a great job with Fernando Nieve today and continues to prove he definitely belongs in the big leagues.Good defensively and very respectable at the plate...good vibes usually when he plays.

Fernando Martinez had three hits today(two legitimate, one questionable)and Fernando Tatis had a solid game at first. But I am too concerned about Daniel Murphy.....this guy's bat potential is too promising for the Mets to use him so irregularly.Okay, the left field experiment did not pan out.But Daniel's got a veteran's savvy at the plate and you got to give him real time at first base to become at least adequate defensively and get into a comfort zone offensively.Nice player as Fernando Tatis is,at first place he is in Daniel Murphy's way of progression.

It will take a lot for me to get over Luis Castillo's hair tearing-out gaffe but Luis dealt with it like a professsional and had a solid game yesterday.Understandably his teammates back him.....you can't afford to lose a teammate psychologically, players know how incredibly tough it can be with the constant mediaspotlight especially in a big market media powerhouse such as New York. But it was just so frustrating, being such a devoted Mets fan with all my heart,to see such a great comeback victory wasted,so utterly destroyed by one careless, stupid play, not using both hands to catch the last out of the game.C'mon Luis, you've tried so hard to win the acceptance and support of Mets fans, coming into this year in much better condition and performing solidly at bat and on the field.Don't let your legacy here be one of total disappointment.

Phillies got beat by Boston for the second game in a row......I'll gladly take being a Boston fan at least in this instance!:gogirl:

Well saucy it seems we are two heads with the same thoughts. ;)
I had in mind to write much what you wrote about.

Beginning with Castillo, I have decided to give him a pass. The reasons are simple, he responded like a man, hanging out at his locker after the game and talking to the press. No excuses and took full responsibility for what happened. He should a lot of pain and was really upset with himself and very sorry. That night as he tells the story he could not sleep and could not wait to get back to the park to first of all see if he was going to be in the lineup and second he was anxious to redeem himself. Yesterday morning when jay Horowitz asked Luis if he was willing to meet with the press again Luis said yes and went out and talked about how anxious he was to get back on the field. In addition he has the full support of Manual and his teammates so who am I to treat him any differently. I forgive you Luis but most of all thanks for being honest and remorseful, you handled the situation with class.

Saucy you asked about Nieve, I did not follow him when he was with the Astros, he signed with them in ’06 and did pitch well. I think they signed him as an amateur free agent but not positive about that. Then In ’07 he was sidelined with Tommy Johns surgery for his elbow but came back in ’08 for the Astros. Like it sometimes happens he was not the same and did not pitch as well, his ERAS was somewhere around 8. Bit the Mets felt he still had some gas in his tank and signed him.
He has the potential of being something special; I am hoping the Mets were right about him and that the Astros regret letting him go. What I was most impressed with was not only his his 95 MPH fastball and his awesome breaking balls, but he was not afraid to pound the big Yankee bats inside He had he Yankees a little dazed and confused by his multitude of pitches, he has such a big repertoire. Once again Santos proved how well he works with his pitchers, I mentioned that once before pertaining to pelfrey and yesterday Omir and Fernando were in perfect sync. Omir knew exactly how to get the most out of his pitcher; it was very exciting to watch.

Sheffield was in great form again yesterday, his legs are still bothering him so he will have an MRI exam early this week on his right knee He said he just wants to know and make sure there's nothing major going on

David Wright is now #1 in the league at .365 I think he is back for good this time..

Fernando Martinez finally had a good day; I was a little relived to see that.

Yesterday game with 17 hits proved how our boys can bounce right back after a miserable loss the day before. There were no effects of the previous game especially with Castillo.

Today it’s Johan Santana and AJ Burnett.

AND, Boston with Beckett on the hill will sweep the Phillies ..|

Sonny, I tell you a Met fan cannot seem to feel very good for long.We lose in the most heartbreaking ways,we are back on board after a bad effort is met by resilience and toughness and a win.But now it had to has happened even to Johann Santana. He had to have a full fledged,no doubt about it stinker.A bad second inning giving up four, and knocked out not recording an out in the fourth, giving up five more runs.Nine hits in all.....our relievers tagged for six more runs...and we score zip in a 15-0 humiliation, losing two out of three in the Yankee Stadium half of the Subway Series.

Let's hope when the Yanks come to CitiField weekend after next, the Mets put on a more competitive show.....at least show up for all the games and not mail one in like this complete embarassment.
