  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

No matter how hot you are, if you're black or Asian, you're just not as desireable...

Each person has his own preference for what race they are more attracted to. Just because you "find" that more people have a preference for white people on the internet, that doesn't make the Asian or Black races any less desirable. I don't understand why you must characterize one as "less desirable".

Just because it's one case on a few sites, doesn't mean it's the case with all sites.

You can't really poll sexual preference because there are so many different types of people with their own very finely nuanced tastes. This is even more so true when using the internet to find statistical data.

And you also can't just use one representative "asian" or one representative "black" since both of these races have many many different subdivisions.

I don't really have the time or care about this issue to go make fake profiles on social networking dating websites to gather "statistical evidence". Your "evidence" is far from definitive.

What I said still stands:

"Seriously, can someone please explain to me what the hell seems to be going on here? I'm going to sleep with the BEST looking guy, regardless of his ethnicity. " -IJBML86

Great. You are going for vapid looks, rather than character and integrity.

It sounds like your standards are pretty common.

Sorry, no insult meant, just stating the obvious.

What some people find attractive is not the same as others. I prefer the look of athletic/muscular tall men, but that doesn't completely define my preferences. I have found that on average, i find i am mostly attracted to black/latino/white guys when i look on manhunt and gaydar. It's not that i don't find asians less attractive, but rather on average, they don't seem to be as tall, which is a big thing for me. I have gone out with shorter guys, but still, tall is my preference. You aren't looking at the whole picture. comparing 2 different guys is apples and oranges most of the time.

Maybe the "average" white guys seemed more approachable, as people fear rejection and will aim for the average. perhaps the "more attractive" profiles you set up intimidated other "average joe's". if i think a guy is out of my league, i don't bother either.

I think it goes back to the "unofficial established pecking order" in the U.S. In spite of the fact that times are changing, there are still many more white males in this country than other minorities. And, I believe there are still prejudices among people that they feel more comfortable with someone "like them". Therefore, more white guys are preferred.

While I can't speak for anyone....I find Asians generally more attractive than anybody else...Of course there are other factors involved such as intelligence and character, but based on looks I almost always pick Asians over anybody else as attractive.

No, but you have the time to make 4,000 + posts in four months?

So much for On-Topic.

To me, its all the statistics. If your sample size is small, (ie. just friends of friends) then you're gonna have a skewed result. The larger the sample size the more indicative it is of a truely representative view on the community in general - or rather the cruising community if the dating sites are what you're trawling.

I know a damn hot guy from Thailand here, and it seems he has no problem with that. Good looking, "hot", young people are literally offering money for a date.
He is partnered though ;)
Therefore I have rebutted your experiment :king:

No seriously .. online dating stuff mainly goes for two things.
Looks. And stats (aka dicksize).

If you meet someone in person you notice a lot more (I hope .. )

Consider the numbers... I would imagine the white male population searching the internet for social, sexual connections to be 80%+/- of the internet searching universe. And your "scientific" sampling is far from it - any college intro statistics course would tell you that.

^ so .. as someone muscular etc pp .. how do you like obese people?
Are they not your "preference", I mean do you discriminate against them?
Just asking ...

But you are (almost) right in one point:
Threads relating in any way to race, institutionalized racism[strike[, and white privilige, [/strike]inevitably descend into personal attacks and hate, without any constructive discussion.

We need to be done with the concept of race. It's just too easy to always fall back into that old habit.
If you even see yourself as "different", how do you expect people to move on?

No, it doesn't stand, especially if you are unwilling to provide your own set of data which corroborate your thought process.

If you have nothing valid to contribute, which you, by your own admission do not, perhaps you should refrain from the discussion.
Establishing your evidence is flawed, is very relevant to the discussion. I don't need to provide any more evidence that "corroborates my thought process" because I am not making stereotypical generalizations about sexuality, as you are.

Your set of data is contrived by your own personal racial ideals. If you had even half of the intelligence that try you to exude, you'd realize that you have no grounds to base your statistical data off.

"I tested it by posing as fake people on dating websites" is far from substantive or empirical.

Your scope is too broad. While you can perhaps and give data that claims that white men are more "desirable" in certain ethnic groups, for instance the Chinese, you cannot overgeneralize and lump every single ethnic group into your own "educated" findings.

As to your irrelevant ad hominem attack on my post count, keep in mind that students usually have an exponentially larger amount of free time in the summers.

Being a marginalised disenfranchised downright undesirable minority myself, I find that my sense of worth is what I make it to be, not what others want to impose on me.

I don't feel the marginalisation, disenfranchisement, undesirability, or my minority status. I am comfortable being someone I am, and if you can't take it, it's your problem. That's how I see it.

I'm a white guy and I love guys who are not white.

Case in point, my avatar. That's my boyfriend (he's not white).

I don't really care what other folks like, but if men "of color" have a hard time getting white guys, then I guess that works...more for me!!!

yeah, maybe that's not all that's small !;)

the guy in your avatar looks white to me. I would not have thought he was a man of color. Thought he was italian or something along those lines.
