The key word in my post is "preemptive." Romney seems to want to "just go and bomb Iran" simply so that they don't develop The Bomb. I'm not even sure that Iran is stupid enough to detonate a nuke on Israel or elsewhere - certainly they know that, then, Teheran (and possibly other places) would become nothing but green glass.

Anybody who uses a nuke as an act of unprovoked aggression pretty much guarantees annihilation of most life on this planet, because the war would spread almost as quickly as the initial impact zone spreads. (Benvolio, some of the hints about us bombing Iran have actually mentioned nuclear warfare in the past which, indeed, would kill many millions.) Very probably it would take something less than a nuke to set off the Final War, if the U. S. were to bomb Iran (or possibly, Russia) for reasons not directly provoked. The "American" war-mongering is pissing off the entire world more and more and, at some point, I CAN imagine much of the planet allying against "us" with the aim of getting rid of the HUGE loose cannon we have become.

OBAMA'S oversight** of unmanned drone strikes isn't at all helpful in this matter, either. (**in this case, I mean it being done "on Obama's watch" - oversight is one of those bizarre English words which can also mean completely ignoring or forgetting something, the exact opposite.)

Israel will need American help to stop Iran. It isn't the backwater it was 30 years ago. Iran has reclaimed the strength Persia is legendary for. There's no guarantee that the United States will aid the defense of Israel in the event of war, and as such, it is unlikely Israel will attack first.

I don't think war is even necessary to stop Iran's nuclear program. A blockade would do the job. The western world was at an unprecedented state of peace between 1815 and WWI because Britain ruled the waves and enforced it, and that is a fact. The US has the moral imperative to do the same. The US navy has more carriers than that of all the other nations combined.

That carrier count won't hold true for much longer, though.

I have read in the latest report compiled by prominent security experts that even an attack will only delay it by four years, and cost more than 10 years of war in Iraq and Afghanistan combined.

The only way for an military strike to kill Iran's nuclear program to happen without the risk of widespread mideast war would be if the Saudis did it.

You swore that the video meant she was a racist, when in truth, if you had viewed the entire video, in context, as other here had, you would have seen that the GOP plays games. It's hard to tell who is a willing participant, and who is an unfortunate, ill informed person.

Romney just slid so far down in the polls that he now is only pulling 37 percent in Michigan.. his new pretend home state. Americans are getting FED UP with Romney, and he has spent 20 years only gaining ONE office, and failing flatly at doing it.

The polls are interesting. In a few battleground states, Nate Silver has lowered Obama's chance of winning the state, though in all cases it's still heavy for Obama. But in others, Obama's lead has become so huge his probability of winning is given as in the 90%+ range.
