apparently this happened in several other cities, too.
just wondering .. don't you guys have a right to protest and peaceful assembly? why didn't riot police show up for teaparty protests?
and why are things like the egyptian protests called "democratic" but the occupy wall street protesters are "unpatriotic"?
The facts of that elude you. The protestors were warned not to go on that part of the park, because the conservancy group that takes care of it just planted $150,000 worth of new plants.
A conservancy group had planted shrubs worth around $150,000 along the greenway and officials were worried about damage, The Washington Post reported.
Also:
Protesters' tents have been in Dewey Square Park in downtown Boston all month, but on Monday they expanded to a larger section of the nearby Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway.
Many linked arms Monday evening in a show of solidarity on their expanded turf.
In fliers handed out on site in Boston, and in a press release, the police told protesters: "If asked to leave an area, please do so peacefully."
They were asked to leave an area to avoid costly damage, and did not do so, so they were arrested. People do not have the right to protest or assemble in violation of the law without facing the repercussions, which is why they were arrested.
