Official 86th Annual Academy Awards (Oscars) Thread

Re: Official 86th Annual Academy Awards Thread

I have only searched the results as I don't have four hours to sit through the whole thing -

12 Years A Slave - a very deserving Best Picture winner.

Very very glad that Cate Blanchett won, but really, any other result would have been highway robbery.

Not sure about Matthew McConaughey, what the hell was up with that speech?! He has won so many awards for playing a gay man with AIDS and not once in any acceptance has he mentioned the LGBT community or AIDS issues.

At least Jared Leto had the decency to reference LGBT issues, albeit rather subtly.

Lupita Nyong'o's win was well deserved. An excellent peformance.

Haven't seen Gravity so cannot comment on Alfonso Cuaron's win.

Happy with the 12 Years A Slave and Her winning the screenplay awards!

Re: Oscar (Academy Awards) who's watching tonight?

It seemed like everyone was drunk or on drugs. They were all acting weird.

Re: Oscar (Academy Awards) who's watching tonight?

Cate Blanchett swears on CNN Live, March 2, 2014

I am pleased that Cate won. She was great in Blue Jasmine.

Matthew McConnaughey's character in Dallas Buyers Club is straight, not gay.

Re: Oscar (Academy Awards) who's watching tonight?

I don't know what some of your were watching.......Ellen was the funniest she has been in years.
I see a few contenders for the grim Oscar here though....... #-o

Yeah, agreed - it was a good show.

I'm amazed at how many actors can't read three lines off a teleprompter in a way which sounds unforced, or be arsed to learn them. I've seen more convincing delivery in twink porn. Also, producers should have ditched Bette Midler - really, really corny to do Wind Beneath my Wings after the In Memoriam.

Yes, it was a bit corny (and overly Jewish???:confused::??) but having so many good people die is a kinda corny situation. I wouldn't want Pharrell[?] try to sing it.

Cgymike questioned the validity of my 'what are your oscar picks' thread. He is just a hater

Put him on ignore or dont respond

The only person he makes look like a fool is himself
