Osama Bin Laden killed!

Re: The President's Address 10:30 PM EST?

Sometimes things take longer than expected.

It is funny to see Wolf Blitzer try to waltz past the New york FD first responder who hopes OBL rots in hell.

you upset they got Bin Laden?

I think he's upset that you're turning it into a political victory for the president. It isn't. Its a victory for the special forces that did it, the intelligence community that found him, and the American people as a whole. Politics has nothing to do with it.

As for the killing; its no wonder Bush couldn't find him. The fucker was hiding by the Pakistani capital. They have a lot to answer for.

Re: The President's Address 10:30 PM EST?

who cares about the delay really.

We got Osama Bin Laden. Mazda is right, though this is not the end and we just stepped into a hornets nest. there will be an extreme need for his followers to take revenge for this. We are going to have a rough patch with terrorism.

But at the end of the day, the loonies in the mid east understand that we WILL eventually get you if you kill our citizens, no matter how long it takes.

Merged the two threads in CE&P on this subject.

I left the thread title as the one which was started a little later as it would appear to now more clearly describe the subject matter for those who may wish to post ongoing.

This and this alone. the only preening going on is those who desire to make it into something it isnt.

Seems that way,don't it?

As Rareboy says..''Bitter girls will be bitter.''

Good job President Obama-and a bigger thanks to the guys who pulled the trigger and brought that piece of shit down!

they are going to have to release pictures like they did when Saddam was captured and then iced.

I want to know who the men on the ground were that pulled it off.

No, he said he's glad he's dead. He just doesn't like the "politicizing" of it.

But, let's be clear--- http://www.nytimes.com/2006/07/04/washington/04intel.html This was not Dubya's priority after an amount of time. This isn't politics--- this is a goddamn fact. Iraq was NOT necessary, Afghanistan was worse than half-assed, and finally this war is turned around.

My deepest gratitude to all the troops, American and foreign, and all the operatives who work to make this war on terror victorious--- this is a triumph, not a final victory but still a victory, for Western civilization, and it is never worth our time to shit on what triumphs we do have, no matter how big or small.

Wow! That link! OMG. And why are there republicans today.

like bush on a carrier in a jump suit with a sign behind him?

Like that?

lets be blunt here.... if the dems were saying the shit the repubs here are saying and Bush had caught the guy, we would all be accused of being unamerican.

So keep the bullshit and shove the disapointment that Obama was successful where the bullshit just slopped out of.

First thought of mine: Let's go all Roman and put his head on a pike outside the white house or the capitol building as a warning for the rest of them.

Again. This isn't Obama's victory. The focus of the people that actually DID this has not changed since 2001, and it is THEIR victory. I'd be saying the same thing if it was a republican in office.

This is a victory for the intelligence community that found him and the special forces that killed him..

A bad decision, in my opinion. :(

This merged thread now reads like a jumbled mess and I had been attempting to keep politics out of it and to stay on topic, discussing the address itself.

Please take my name down as the OP, because I don't want my name on something that is evolving into the usually mudslinging done by the wingnuts and the libtards.

This is brilliant! Thanks to you and Alfred Eisenstadt! :=D: ..| :D

Some day, we're going to look upon today's event as being one of those, "where were you when_________happened?"

I agree, bad decision.

Same news but two completely different tones.

The whining Conservatards need their own thread.

Mine was a celebration.

nonsense

Bush dismantled the team that was hunting for him. Obama put it back together when he became president.

July 3 — The Central Intelligence Agency has closed a unit that for a decade had the mission of hunting Osama bin Laden and his top lieutenants, intelligence officials confirmed Monday.

The unit, known as Alec Station, was disbanded late last year and its analysts reassigned within the C.I.A. Counterterrorist Center, the officials said.

The decision is a milestone for the agency, which formed the unit before Osama bin Laden became a household name and bolstered its ranks after the Sept. 11 attacks, when President Bush pledged to bring Mr. bin Laden to justice "dead or alive."

The realignment reflects a view that Al Qaeda is no longer as hierarchical as it once was, intelligence officials said, and a growing concern about Qaeda-inspired groups that have begun carrying out attacks independent of Mr. bin Laden and his top deputy, Ayman al-Zawahiri.
