Paul Ryan is Mitt Romney's running mate?

1% of them might be sayin' 'Hell to the Yahh', but the rest of America isn't going to like this guy's vision for their country.

If we have another round of "Occupy" protests before November, I can guarantee you the Republicans (Romney/Ryan) will win.

The "Occupy" protesters had one chance to convince the public. They blew it. Now they are seen as unkempt rabble rousers who destroy public property and send the bill to the taxpayers

I believe Obama did the same exact thing when he announced Joe Biden back in 2008, as well.
Interesting coincidence. We almost forgot. But the difference is that he immediately caught it himself and restated. So by comparison, it was a mini-gaffe.

That's a great way to misrepresent a whole group of people. Your contempt of people who have fallen on tough economic times is indicative of the entire republican party. Keep it up!

A lot of people have fallen on tough economic times. I feel like crying when i see homeless people. It's very unfortunate. :(

Obama has failed them, as well as the rest of the country.

"Are you better off now than you were 4 years ago?" -- Most Americans will say no

And the President can either sign or veto Legislation. What have the Republicans done to bring Legislation to his desk to help homeless people? Last time I checked, the President was in the Executive Branch, not the Legislative Branch.

Thoughtful people blame Congress. When neither Party has full control of the Legislative and Executive Branches ... ignorant people, who don't understand the very basics of Government, blame the President.

I'm on the fence with this one.

Sure, Paul Ryan's ideas scare the shit out of me but he maybe what Romney needs to fire up his election! However, his budge plan combined with Romney's recent comments of the Poor and the reaction from the Catholic Church could sink them. Let face it there are alot more Poor people than there are Rich! The image of Two Rich White Men is starting to look like 'Animal Farm'.

All that silly tit for tat is now off the table. We are going to have an adult campaign about the nations problems and it will soon be apparent the Hussein is not qualified to speak.

Reading many reactions from all the usual political personalities.
Romney-Ryan 2012: VP Pick Sparks Outpouring Of Reaction (VIDEO)
One of the more surprising ones was from Rachel Maddow's tweet: "Paul Ryan is the one VP pick who can unite liberal and conservative America."

Hmmm. I'll have to tune into Meet the Press tomorrow morning to hear her articulate. Never would have imagined liberals to consider Ryan as a political uniter.

I can see where Ryan would appeal to Fiscally Conservative Independents and Social Liberals who happen to be Fiscallly-Conservative (which I can be).

I am all for Social programs, Universal Healthcare, and having a safety net for those who need it. But I want it paid for as opposed to running up the debt and devaluing the dollar. And I think the wealthy have a social-responsibility in the moral interests of the country to provide that safety net.

Sadly, I don't forsee Romney nor Ryan forcing that issue, but I do agree that something needs to be done about either raising revenue (taxes) to pay for the spending, or to cut spending. It has to be paid for somewhere. And I think looking further into Overseas Spending cuts would be a place to start.

Sadly, with the Bush foreign advisers Romney has surrounded himself with, I do not get a very good feeling on that front.

Will be interesting. But no doubt, Ryan was the best pick Romney could have made, in my opinion. And I am saying this from a non-Partisan stance who is calling it down the middle.

Ryan the man.....Excellent choice. Smart man. Engaging. Relateable. Sincere. Conviction. Everything that Romney is not.

Ryan the Medicare killer....totally turns me off. Great plan but not somehing that thrills me given how much $ I've already poured into the program. He last stated that benefits would be unchanged for those already in Medicare. And they would grandfather it for those currently 55+. I don't have any desire to get to the door and have it slammed on me. I don't want to be one of the first wave of those Americans on private insurance during retirement. Anyone ever price how much insurance cost for older Americans?

Not getting into my own political views - but I have to agree that Ryan as a person brings a better image to me than Romney. Just in terms of like-ability .
However - as a college student, I am not with his views of cutting Pell grants. (unless he can make the case that we are so broke that it is imperative. I would rather have to pay a little more and come into a thriving economic climate than keep the Pell the same and come into a climate where the government's in liquidation status. )

Herman's pick of Eddie just guaranteed Barack Obama another 4 years.

There will be a slight bump in the polls as the tea bagger republicans orgasm over being able to vote for one of their own. Then Eddie will open his mouth about how he wants to kill off Gramma and Grandpa and the rest of the country will be revolted.

Ryan is the budget chief in the House. He wrote a plan that would give more tax breaks to the rich and would cut Medicare benefits by giving seniors vouchers to buy healthcare. He would be David Cameron on steroids when it comes to austerity for the middle and working classes. He was chosen to shore up the conservative base because they don't trust Romney.

Regardless of how Republicans want to ignore it, things are getting better! Now, Romney (Herman) and Ryan (Eddie) want to turn all that back and return to Bush's ways.

The facts are a troubling thing for republicans. Here are the numbers for Bush's last three months. Between October and November, 597,000 jobs were lost; between November and December, 681,000 were lost; and between December and January, 741,000 were lost.

April 2012 marks the 26th straight month of gains in private-sector employment, for a total of 4.2 million private-sector jobs.

DJIA Dec 1, 2008 = 8149

DJIA Aug 10, 2012 = 13207

Dec 29, 2008 U.S. corporate earnings probably fell for a sixth-straight quarter, the longest streak in at least 20 years, as consumer spending on automobiles, homes and retailers collapsed.

May 11, 2012 Fortune magazine released its ranking of the 500 biggest US corporations Monday, which showed that they received a record-breaking $824 billion in combined profits in 2011, up 16 percent from 2010.

No, Obama's first 4 years isn't a failure, it is a success. ..|

There's ONE good thing about this - finally, at last, we don't have to worry about Rick Santorum anymore in November!!

PAUL RYAN will be instantly demonized by thr Democrat press.
Updated, to incorporate the news since your post. If demonized, there are very good reasons for doing so.

And then everyone will realize it is just the sound of flies.
Flies buzzing around the dead carcasses of the poor, etc. who will be KILLED under the Ryan budget plan. (If that team gets into the Executive at the Inauguration in January, and this results from their budget, they SHOULD be charged with thousands, or perhaps millions, of counts of PREMEDITATED, FIRST DEGREE MURDER. And so should the Congresscritters who vote for it.)

He last stated that benefits would be unchanged for those already in Medicare. And they would grandfather it for those currently 55+. I understand your fears completely. I actually entered the Medicare program this week, and even though I'm obviously WELL past 55, I don't trust their reassurances IN THE LEAST. Let's imagine Republicans run the table in November. I fully imagine that, after the incredibly horrific economic DISASTER they create with their wanton drunken-sailor spending, and collection of revenues ONLY from people making less than $100K and untreated illnesses and people starving and dying in the streets like in India, they will declare a financial emergency, and **STEAL** all of the monies which people have put into Social Security and Medicare for their entire lifetimes - and, while they're at it, their removal of ALL regulation of any kind on banking will assure that all PRIVATE retirements (IRA's, Keoughs, etc.) are **STOLEN** as well. More money, and more massive unlimited campaign contributions for them, as GRATITUDE to the Repugnantans who have enabled them to steal the entire wealth of this third-rock-from-the-Sun.

As far as your question about the costs of health insurance at age 76 or something (when you reach that age): $260,000 a year, perhaps? Of course, the healthcare cost of setting a broken leg in a cast will likely cost more than buying a seven-bedroom mansion in Silicon Valley, because Republicans LOVE for healthcare costs to soar. It kills off more of those who can't afford it, which means a lot of Democrats die.

Two rich white men, who both have an "I've got mine, I don't give a hoot about you motherfucking poor heathens" opinion, just like the rest of the Repuke Party, running for office. That's an excellent way to piss of independents and minorities even more.
Corrected for truth.

It will be essential to demonstrate the we are headed for financil disaster. Five trillion of new debt under Hussein and if Hussein is elected.at least that again. It cannot be solved by chanting "its all Republicans' fault". The Democrats have no plan. Raise taxes on the rich and spend like there is no tomorrow. Get the votes by hook or by crook and don't worry about tomorrow.
Many people are worried, especially independants, older people, young people and Republicans.
I agree it is a big risk and I would have preferred another choice. It could even cost us the House.

I have found several interesting articles on Ryan and his lack of abilities in the budget.

I have to post this one first. I think I've read it before but do not know if I've seen it in a thread or not. I couldn't find it.
Anyway it states Romney is going to abandon his support for Paul Ryan's budget. WOW.

The Committee to End Medicare: Mitt Romney picks Paul Ryan #5

The craziest thing so far about today are the reports that now that Mitt Romney has picked Paul Ryan, he is going to abandon his support for Paul Ryan's budget. It seems too crazy to be true, but CNN is reporting that's what's the Romney campaign is saying.

Here's a passage directly from the Romney talking points:

Questions and Answers About The Romney/Ryan Ticket:

1) Does this mean Mitt Romney is adopting the Paul Ryan plan?

· Gov. Romney applauds Paul Ryan for going in the right direction with his budget, and as president he will be putting together his own plan for cutting the deficit and putting the budget on a path to balance.

In Ryan's budget it does not mention veterans once. He has left out all benefits for veterans just when all those guys are coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan with terrible wounds. Anyone voting for Romney and Ryan are heartless.

GOP Budget Doesn't Even Say the Word "Veteran"

Do Republicans care about keeping our promise to veterans?

Looking at the recently released GOP budget, written by Rep. Paul Ryan, it's hard to see how they do. In fact, looking at the nearly 100 page document, the word "veteran" doesn't appear once. Not once.

Today is the 9th anniversary of the start of the Iraq War. Last night, I spoke with someone who served with me in Iraq during my first tour. And for the first time in almost nine years, she wanted to talk to me about an incident where she drove through an IED and a soldier was killed. It was a profound moment that shows how war and sacrifice stay with us, always. For those of us who served, in many ways, yesterday is today. And today, we read that the GOP doesn't even talk about veterans in their budget.

I don't know how Romney saying he will abandon Ryan's budget will effect this, but Ryan was planning on all the tax breaks to benefit his wife, father-in-law and I can't imagine how many of his relatives will benefit.

Ryan's Shrewd Budget Payday

Exclusive: The congressman stands to make money from his stakes in four businesses that lease land to energy companies which would benefit from $45 billion in tax breaks and subsidies in his proposed budget. Daniel Stone reports.

When House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan unveiled the GOP blueprint for cutting government spending, he asked Americans to make sacrifices on everything from Medicare to education, while preserving lucrative tax subsidies for the booming oil, mining and energy industries.

It turns out a constituency within his own personal investments stood to benefit from those tax breaks, Newsweek and The Daily Beast have learned.

The financial disclosure report Ryan filed with Congress last month and made public this week shows he and his wife, Janna, own stakes in four family companies that lease land in Texas and Oklahoma to the very energy companies that benefit from the tax subsidies in Ryan's budget plan.

This one covers the 5 things I feel are very important to not cut them. Proposals that would end Medicare, cut SNAP grants by 18%, end abortions, grants hospitals far-reaching powers to deny women abortion care and defund Planned Parenthood.

Top 5 Worst Things About Paul Ryan's Record
By Alison McQuade on
August 11, 2012

It’s a big day in presidential politics. Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney has chosen Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan as his running mate. The Vice President pick says a lot about a nominee’s legislative priorities, and with Ryan joining Romney on the ticket, we think there are a few things you should know.

1. Paul Ryan authored budget proposals that would end Medicare as we know it. His budget proposal would repeal health care reform, sticking seniors with the bill and leaving their health care at risk. This is especially problematic for women, who make up fifty-six percent of Medicare beneficiaries.
