I find it ironic that many early Christians believed that a newborn human became a person with the first breath, but many today have gone the other direction and claim that a just-fertilized ovum is a person.
Correction- that belief of "nefesh" comes Genesis and Exodus, so the origin is Judaism, not Christianity. It was also the belief of Southern Baptists until Jerry Falwell and Paul Weyrich decided in the late 70s that abortion could be used for political purposes.

The point is that many early Christians believed it but now many have gone to the extreme opposite -- the source is not relevant.
It seems to me the source is indeed relevant. If the belief that life begins at first breath originates in old Judaism dating back to Christ's time and before, and since Jesus was very much a Jew following those traditions, is it not a logical conclusion that those were Jesus' beliefs as well?
^That's exactly it.The point is that many early Christians believed it but now many have gone to the extreme opposite -- the source is not relevant.

If so, the point being, "Christians" today really have no concern for what Jesus would have believed or thought about abortion (or anything for that matter) at all, yet they hypocritically claim they follow him. Not that it's a surprise. He said nothing about it.
