Project Runway 3

Kayne's gown last night was stunning. I think that he swings from gaudy to really tacky...but he knows how to make a gown and he makes me laugh. I think Laura has to go home and take care of her baby...I see next week she is going to cry a little. Uli is under the radar, but I think that Jeffery will win...UGH.

I'm rather mystified as to why Jeffery won. I thought Uli's garment was much nicer and far more flattering on her model. To me the only thing going for Jeffery's garment was the bright yellow fabric. Although Michael did hit a speed bump in the couture department I'm glad to see he survived. I think Kayne has a lot of talent, but lately everything he puts on the runway is very "Vegas Baby!" Laura's and Vincent's were very uninspired and I'm not disappointed to see Vincent go. I'm eager to see what happens next week. Laura looks like she's having preggers inspired mood swings!

kanye's gown was stunning...stunningly tacky. i actually like jeffrey's stuff...and i think he gets major points for his dresses cause he looks like he only knows how to do goth but he's versatile...this dress and the one he made a few weeks ago out of recyclables were both awesome i thought...you might have been right about uli's being better though since all this basically comes down to taste, who can say what's better...

all the survivors are really talented. i can't think of anybody who's been cut that hasn't deserved to be cut so far...now it gets difficult cause all the so-so designers are gone.

I kind of liked Jeffrey's gown as well...it was bold, fashion forward and different...the intent of couture design...oui? I can't stand the guy at all...but he's starting to prove himself...designwise (aside from the potato sack he put Angela's mother in... ).

Uli's was a beautiful gown...probably the most wearable/sellable...but we've seen it before.

Michael...got by on his reputation this round...ugh...what a disaster. Then to add insult to injury...a heckler threw an egg at his dress...it must really have been even worse looking in public.

Laura...a major disappointment...I keep waiting for her to combine her architectural design background with fashion and see what she comes up with...either something structured or de-constructed...but all she gives us is safe movie classic wardrobe.

Kayne makes me laugh...I love that he is so passionate and exuberant about his designs...but he can't see the forest though the trees. His style is so obviously "Vegas" that I can't think of a better euphemism. He just loves pretty shiny pagent gowns...that's his niche.

Vincent...I can't even say he was entertaining...glad to see him go!

Kayne. He's a real good example of a case for questioning whether its easier for a classy person to learn how to make a gown? Or if its easier take a proficient gown-maker and give him some class?

Love this comment! :rotflmao:

he said something like how he's white trash and can't help himself...gotta love the honesty. he does show promise though...not that i know shit about dresses but i thought he did some interesting stuff the week they designed for icons...his marilyn monroe leather fetish dress was kinda hot...hopefully he can overcome his white trash roots...

...hopefully he can overcome his white trash roots...

...or rather he should embrace his white trashiness...Britney Spears has...and look where its got her. ;)

think of all the debutantes, bridesmaids, prom queens and pagent girls out there in need of his services...someone has to clothe them and deal with their overbearing mamas...and rich daddies.

from his Bravo bio...
He cites Bob Mackie and Roberto Cavalli as major influences on his work. His gowns encompass originality, attention to detail and a young femininity with an edge.

Bob Mackie...lol...king of sequins and glitz (think Cher and Carol Burnett)! ...maybe just a bit too much influence there. ds_writr is right...Vegas is his destiny and will embrace and love him and his style. :p

I thought it was pretty cool that Kayne's gown matched his jacket. Did he know they were going to be showing the designs on a party boat? His was my favorite, but I'm tacky that way. Jeffrey showed that this is his forte, and his design would be great at any pool party. I realize that Laura's was derivative, but her basic idea was kinda cool, as was seeing the stark black and white on her extremely pale French model and her PR model (Camila?). had she been able to keep the collar's volume/movement after the trip, it would have been decent. Michael needed more time. and the adjustments made on the runway were seriously better. I wouldn't rule him out. Uli's was boring to me, but that may be because my female Sims alll wear much the same thing. Vincent's gluetastic gown needed to go, and they made the right decision! Wish Catherine (sp?) had knocked him overboard when he was shmoozing her! What a creep!

Okay what were the judges sniffing this week? Jeffrey wins after making an outfit like that? Bitch looks like she got tangled up and lost in her curtains...

What an interesting twist. I would have loved to see Allison and Bradley back, but it's too bad they never won a challenge. I don't understand why the 5 designers were being such babies about the whole situation -- it's not like Angela and Vincent knew anything about it. And if any of the other designers were put in the same position, would they have really rejected the opportunity to return?

I'm glad Laura was able to pull off a win (but it would've been more exciting to see Angela or Vincent win, just to shake things up). I think Kayne would've stayed in the competition if he just listened to the rules and used black AND white (and not just a white trim). Too bad, because Jeffery was in the bottom 2.

I liked this episode except for the "return." Frankly I think it flopped because they allowed themselves to be dissed for a second time. You can explain being booted once, but twice?

As for the challenge I knew immediately from the runway which two were tops and even which was the winner. Frankly, only Micheal and Laura's dresses were even actually wearable. Jeffrey and Vincent's designs were not suitable for a cocktail party (unless it was at the pimps and hos party). Leggings? He should have been kicked off just for that. I don't know what Angela was thinking about with that collar.

I think Kayne would have survived if he had stuck to the challenge of using both colors because it was his last minute effort to use some white that lead to the travesty of the back of the dress. I was very impressed that Michael tried to stir Kayne in the right direction. On a lot of reality shows it so much dog eat dog competition that you rarely see that type of assistance. And after hearing the judges it appeared Michael was spot on. I wished they had told him to remove that white strip so we could have seen what it looked like without it. I think Kayne was booted over Jeffrey because he seemed to lack real taste.

Heidi was on "The View" this morning. Gawd those women are annoying. Heidi could hardly get a word in with them talking over one another. Rosie of course pointed out how gay the show is and "outed" Kayne although she said he has talked about a boyfriend on the show. I guess I missed that episode.

I thought Laura's win was deserved. Her garment was really very pretty and classy IMHO. It's like the judges said, this time she designed for someone other than herself. Michael's was nice and I love that Nina pointed out how he has an eye for the "total package." His model comes down the runway looking great pretty much all the time. Is it just me or does it seem that all of Uli's designs are a variation of the same thing? She has an eye for fabrics and prints, but her garments are the same each week. I'm so eager to see Jeffery go if only because he's a total jerk. Which of course means he'll make it to the final three. I'm sorry to see Kayne go, but it seemed it was inevitable.

What will it take to get Vincent off my TV? He and Angela really turned out some horrific pieces this week, but they were easily matched by the hooker wear that Jeffrey produced (what kind of parties does he get invited to? ). Sorry to see Kayne leave, but happy for the Laura win. Michael's my favorite, but Laura's a close second. I hope they mak eit to the final, as a collection by eachof them would be great to see. I don't care much either way about Uli. It's usually pretty much the same thing each time. But I loved Kors' imitation of Uli's accent, and Heidi's reaction! Good TV!:-)

LOL! Kor's imitation was soo funny and Heidi's reaction was priceless. Great stuff. :D

I'm happy that the finale has Michael and Uli in it, I loved both of them from the start! I hate the fact Jeffery is in the finale as well and I seriously hope he doesn't win!!

Time to resurrect this thread. It feels like so long.

I'm happy that all 4 designers were chosen to go to Fashion Week. I say that beacuse although I hate Jeffrey, I was pretty certain Micahel would have been cut with them in the bottom 2, so as long as Micahel and Laura made it to the finals, I'm happy. Well, 4 designers get to show at Fashion Week every season anyway, but only 3 got to be televised.

I kind of had a feeling that Uli had a bitchy streak since the early episodes. I'm not sure if I would want to change models so close to the end, but I guess it doesn't really matter at this point. Uli and Laura have a preoblem of making similar garments each challenge, but I like Laura so much more.

Next week: reunion! I can't wait to see Jeffery get called out for being such an asshole. I hope Heidi chimes in and puts him in his place. Keith's explanation should be interesting too. And I predict Allison will win the viewers choice.

I was really happy to see all four make it to the final! Uli was actually pretty funny last night (sounded JUST like Heidi with the 'Uli doesn't finish her dress' voiceover thing), and she came up eith the most original dress for the challenge, though I can't help but wonder whether, given more time, she might have gone with her usual instincts and made her dress longer. I also thnk that Nazri was a HUGE part of her win, and affected Michael negatively. Jeffrey was annoying, and the attmpt to humanize him by having him recive a call from his kid didn't have the requisite effect upon me, sad to say. Laura needs to get off her feet, and then produce something amazing for the final show. I think she will.

The reunion show is going to be so awesomely juicy! And from what I understand, there's a big scandal in the finale as well. (Kara Saun's shoes have nothing on this!)

Oh yeah--what was up with those three words? Write three words down on a sheet of paper after you finish the dress and we'll judge you on how well you describe your creation? WTF?
