On-Topic Republicans to Blame for Dysfunctional Congress

^ You are also absolutely right.

The Cold War was a great stick to hold over everyone's head until it erupted in an un-winable war against Communism in Vietnam.

^ I have to agree.

As I've said repeatedly...Obama has behaved like a legislator and not an executive on many occasions...all because he and the Dems are afraid that they wouldn't have the second term.

Give Obama another 4 years and I think the picture will be much different in terms of how the White House deals with Congress.
Since the Republicans will probably control Congress, perhaps Hussein will suddenly be willing to work with Congress. Even more so if they end the filibuster.

Benvolio, luv, can you please explain to the world how much more compromising "Hussein" needs to do? Especially when the GOP's official policy has been "no compromise, kill the n***er with fire"? Like, OFFICIAL POLICY. IN A FUCKING PUBLIC STATEMENT!

Since the Republicans are unlikely to get a veto proof majority, they will not be likely to get anything done since they are unwilling to compromise. They only got 5 pieces of substantive legislation passed, the worst of any Congress in history. They spent most of their time on futile votes to repeal Obamacare.

You lie. They said no such thing. No official policy. No statement, public or otherwise.

You can say exactly the same about the Democrats. I takes two to tango. Notice that CGs complaunt below is that the Repiblicans did "obstruct Obama"i.e. they did not do as Obama wanted. When were the Dems willing to compromise?

Obama and Democrats have made several efforts to meet the Republicans half way and gotten little for it. Dropping the public option from the ACA would be one prime example.

I don't seem to recall seeing that particular policy statement in any Republican publications. The closest I heard is some Republicans saying the goal was to make Obama a one term president without the racist overtones, but that is not official policy just a position statement. Every party has a goal spoken or not of getting their candidate elected so it is rather a given anyway.

You call that half way?

Yes, of course, I meant the intent. Which, btw, IS racist. All the accusations against Obama, everything anybody has said in trying to disqualify him, has been in the theme of "he's different than us". Be it black, foreign, Muslim or whatever.

You lie. They said no such thing. No official policy. No statement, public or otherwise.

How about this from Richard Mourdock, Republican Candidate for US Senate who beat Sen. Lugar:

Indiana State Treasurer Richard Mourdock, who defeated long-time Sen. Richard Lugar in the Republican primary Tuesday, has a new twist on bipartisanship.

Reacting to a statement from Lugar slamming his embrace of an "unrelenting partisan mindset," Mourdock said, "I have a mindset that says bipartisanship ought to consist of Democrats coming to the Republican point of view," he said Wednesday on "Fox & Friends."

Richard Mourdock: Bipartisanship Ought To Be Democrats Siding With The GOP

This is the guy Mitt Romney appeared on the campaign trail with this weekend. I haven't heard of any Republicans repudiating Mourdock's comments. Incumbent Republicans, most of whom are quite conservative, have been losing primaries to Tea Party candidates for being too compromising with Democrats. You are so partisan that you are blind to reality and basic facts (not unlike most Republicans).

I was responding to Roly's lie that the Republicans said "kill the n....". Objecting to his being foreign or Muslim would be perfectly logical. It is logical to prefer someone who appreciates our culture, our economy, our values, our traditions. Calling that "racist" is another falsehood. Liberals frequently accuse Republicans of being "outside the mainstream".

So back during the 2008 election when I observed that his executive leadership credentials were thinner than Sarah Palin's who was being criticized for lack of experience, it was racism that motivated my observation and not the fact that he had never held an executive office and she had (governor)?

It still is not an OFFICIAL Republican policy nor is will you find anything on Republican policy sites that says "kill the ni**er with fire".

Objecting to his being foreign or Muslim would not be logical at all ESPECIALLY as he is not either of those things, I'm sorry but being a Hawaiian makes him an American. America is a nation of born and raised from immigrants and a melting pot individualist culture. I've seen nothing to indicate that Obama is not part of or does not appreciate 'our culture, our economy, our values or our traditions. IF those are you driving reasons for opposing him then they ARE racist and false as well.

^ What you will find if you Google it is a very sad indictment of race relation s in the US. Tragic.

This republican controlled congress is a failure.

Congress produces little except bad ratingss

A poll last month by CBS News and The New York Times found Congress with a 12 percent approval rating and 79 percent disapproval score.

More broadly, just 151 laws have been enacted in 19 months: More than two dozen of those were to rename post offices and courthouses, or add individuals to the Smithsonian board. By comparison, the previous Congress enacted 383 laws with President Barack Obama in the White House and Democrats controlling Capitol Hill.

This always happens when republicans are in control of anything. [-X

Yeah I watched Mike Turner (r) Ohio, in a House Armed Services Committee Hearing on the defense cuts coming because of sequester and this fucking loon first says that he didnt vote for sequester and Obama has offered plans but nothing they want and then that in the super committee Obama wasn't there to lead them through the process so it is obviously Obama's fault for the House not authoring an acceptable budget.

Last i checked the House had the purse strings and Obama can offer all day long but they have to man up and actually do some work. Meanwhile the President is still at work and the congress having accomplished nothing is on vacation.

Obama should call a special session and bring their deadbeat asses back until they forge a budget.

race relations in the U.S. are just fine thank you

We elected a black president - did you hear?

2/3 of the american public like him - even with > 8% unemployment for 3+ years and staggering debt

if we were doing better, 3/4 would like him

that's not racist

that's love or at least like

so take your not in this country blather about this country and ......... well u know
