Rise of Fascism in the United States [SPLIT]

The problem is....the MAGAts are only showing where their heads are at.

Comey nailed it. 47 sold out.

I've always understood giving someone the "86" meant to give them the boot; as in kick them out, replace, impeach, etc. I've never thought of it as violence.

^ Exactly.

But MAGAts always think in terms of violence apparently.

That’s what it meant on the show Get Smart but that was a satirical show and satire is usually over the heads of most conservatives ever looking for the conspiracy.

Kara, I like the way you are thinking but this is the fuckwad that gave Trump the election.

Just because he has buyer's remorse doesn't excuse what he did.

Meanwhile, in today's anti-fascism round-up....

I'm not a Comey fan. He created the monster and, as the saying goes, "If you shoot at the emperor, don't miss".

However, Comey apologized for the 86-47 picture in a time where apologizing is equated to weakness. Trump is afraid of his own shadow. The way to deal with him is to double-down and go at him with a flame-thrower.

On that note, there's an interesting editorial from Frank Bruni that touches upon how Trump sizes up people. He respects people who are audacious and nervy. The example that Bruni gives is Laura Loomer, who seems to be functioning as the White House employment screener. Loomer wants Trump to pull his latest Surgeon General nominee, Dr Casey Means, because Loomer claims that Means is involved in witchcraft. Loomer came to fame as a college activist because she is a Zionist who hates Muslims- all Muslims. True to her Islamophobic roots, Loomer has been on a screed this week because Trump is cavorting with "jihadists" over in Saudi Arabia, UAE and Qatar.

Yet, Loomer gets to meet with Trump in the Oval Office and seems to be his "plus one" at Mar-A-Lago and on Air Force One. Trump likes having her around because she is over-the-top audacious.

Comey could learn a lesson or two from Loomer.

He could learn some lessons. But he has always been a weak man.

Thankfully, US Americans are doing the doubling down.

Using 8647 all over social media, making hats and t-shirts.

Calling out the MAGAts who apparently had a completely different interpretation of what '86' meant when they were running around
screaming '86 46'

Meanwhile, 7 SC justices, including Roberts may have delivered a real counter measure to Trump's naked desire to be Surpeme Ruler
by reminding him that the Consitution still exists.

And he is mighty pissed about it.

Maxwell Smart was Agent 86. On Get Smart, "86" referred to the character.

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting has just fought back and other organizations should pay attention.

CPB sued Trump and his officials in the U.S. District Court for Washington, D.C, after the White House sent an email stating that three CPB board members must be terminated.

The judge at a hearing for that lawsuit, stated that CPB's board could "protect itself if it wanted to be protected" from the firings by amending its bylaws.

So this week they did.

And now no one, including as stated, the President of the United States, can dismiss board members without a 2/3rds majority vote in favour.

Every non-profit, University, Museum, performing arts organization in the US should get their bylaws sorted.

Another judge rules agaiinst TrumpCo's edict.

This is the biggest problem with the court system. It takes too freaking long to stop any of this stuff. Trump's little DOGE psychopaths forced their way into USIP on March 17. That was over two months ago. By now the damage is done and the ruling is ineffective. Can Humpty Dumpty be put back together again? I don't know. Trump knows this, and DOGE got what it wanted. USIP is gone now. It's a done deal.

The Courts, somehow, need to find a way to step in and stop this shit as soon as it happens.

The problem is the DOJ. The people who entered that building were committing a felony. When the DC police called the Feds, they said that DOGE was allowed into the building, even though the Institute of Peace told thempolice that the building was owned by IOP.

By the time the Congress flips to Democrat or Pam Bondi is sent back to her Qatar lobbying job, the statute of limitations is likely to have expired.

A bigger part of the problem, not the courts - they are set up to move slowly for a reason - is people not being willing to stand up to blatant illegal actions. Unwilling to wait for the court before they capitulate.

Depends on what the hypothetical charges might be. There are enough of them to choose from. But I suspect that Bondi will be gone long before Toad is gone, and no one will bother with her.

Another thing that caused this is the unwillingness of the Biden administration to make consequences a priority

Uh....OK.

DOJ has changed since Trump took over. DOJ allowed DOGE into USIP because DOJ is now under Trump's control.
People are not being willing to stand up to blatant illegal actions and are unwilling to wait for the court before they capitulate...because the people who would do so are now under Trump's control.
Trump has changed it all.

Trump is lighting fires all over the place every day, and we can't wait months for the fire department to show up while everything is turning to ashes.
Trump and DOGE and Project 2025 are counting on this. Tear something apart. The people who used to step in, won't. It all burns and when the ashes are cold, some court two months later says, oh you shouldn't have done that. Oops, too late, too bad.

For the Courts to be effective, they need to get some sense of urgency to meet the moment and change, too.
They need to respond as soon as this shit happens, because DOJ nor anyone else is going to wait for them.

The Court is the only institution left with the legal authority to say stop. And if they keep acting like everything still works like it did before; if they don't stand up to this crisis emergency and say stop now, what they rule in two or three months won't make a darn bit of difference. The more Trump gets away with, the more he is going to try to get away with, and more he will get away with.

The Courts won't do anything different though, I know. They won't see the urgency until it's too late, and Trump just ignores them and has thrown the third branch into the fire, and the country is lost. Just like Merrick Garland.

Gleichshaltung!
