Ok... I'm going to become an obscure artist who makes unpopular music that no one buys. Then, for some reason, I have the right to then trash more successful and arguably more talented music artists just because their music is played on the radio and my music isn't.
It's a sad case of jealousy. It's the kick the person at the top type of mentality. You know a lot of people hate Donald Trump just because he's rich. Insecure people like to forget that Donald earned his accolades.
Rufus (who) fell victim to this.
It's an entirely different mentality. Usually indie/alternative artists like Rufus Wainwright don't want to be the big-selling artist like Beyonce, because then they'll be on a major label, which more often than not pressure them to make that big hit single. I don't think Rufus is jealous; otherwise he'd be making more accessible pop or rock music instead of baroque-influenced music.
