Second Presidential Debate - Discussion

I think I prefer the standard debate format, not this town-hall style.

Yeah, I would rather have an Obama supporter ask the questions like in the VP debate rather than average people.

"What don't you know, and how will you learn it?"

I don't even know how I'd answer that!

And Obama didn't answer it.

....

But neither did McCain.

NObody acknowledged how they would learn whatever they don't know, either.

They both bypassed the question, and turned it into a general closer.

Wolf Blitzer just said it "seems pretty apparent that Senator McCain has some disdain for Senator Obama".

The two did not shake hands after the debate was over.

Oh, I don't know about that. He said Mischelle knew what he didn't know and she usually taught him what it was. Or something like that.

I think this debate was pretty much a draw. McCain needed to slam it out of the park, and I don't think he did that. Obama didn't impress either, but he doesn't have to impress as much as McCain needs to because he's the one who's sinking.

Is he really sinking? From what I hear it's different everyday, but that's up here in Canada.

What's up with the guys in the audience?

I give McCain the edge, but not by much. If he hadn't been lying, he would have done better. He sounded too hostile sometimes, and put his foot in it where Obama could correct him. But he seemed more in touch with the people, and more firm in his positions, which counts for a lot.

I don't know if I would quite say he's "sinking", but he is down in most of the polls from what I've seen over the last several days. I have read a lot of articles that were saying with the amount of time left before election day, that this would really be his last good chance at making a shift in his election to pickup some ground. I guess we will see if that will happen or not. Stranger things have happened.

Obama was unarguably stronger the first half; confident and precise. McCain was obviously nervous, almost incoherent at times. By the second half, he found his ground in foreign policy and by then put the debate on equal footing. In short, first half: Obama wins by landslide. Second half: draw. Overall: Obama simply wins.

I think it was a draw with both O & M

The real loser was Tom Brow.

He lost control of the concept of a Town Hall.

And both M & O over-running the clock & O wanting to break rules for a rebuke.

If Tom can't corral these two ,who can ?
