Should THIS be the ENGLISH national anthem?

Which should be the National Antham of England?

Ok, you won me over. I vote Jerusalem -- but I'm only half English, so I guess it is a half vote?

"Her Majesty's a pretty nice girl,
but she doesn't have a lot to say
Her Majesty's a pretty nice girl
but she changes from day to day

I want to tell her that I love her a lot
But I gotta get a bellyful of wine
Her Majesty's a pretty nice girl
Someday I'm going to make her mine, oh yeh,
someday I'm going to make her mine."

It really is quite simple Lawstuk. If i went to another country, i would be expected to adapt and integrate with the society into which i had moved. If that meant not drinking, not smoking, not being openly gay etc, that is what i would have to do.

So why, when people come to this country, are we forced to adapt to them?

We shouldnt. They came here, they should adapt to us, cos they certainly wouldnt alter their way of life in their countries to accommodate us.

England, and the UK as a whole, can not be seen as a soft spot any more. It is not racist or wrong to stand up for ones countries values and look out for its best interests.. it is in fact more morally loyal and honourable to do what is right and in the best interests of ones nation, than to pander to the PC brigade.

If you want to watch this country flaunder.. then feel free - but do not complain when your taxes shoot up 50% to pay for the NHS which is being abused by immigrants who arent paying a penny back into it!

And by the same measure Josephine, you can't complain when the NHS collapses when you send home the workforce of overseas healthcare staff that are the lynchpin of the health service.

Or have I missed your ever-changing point as well?

Once again:

There is not one example in history in which economic migrants have degradated the economy to which they join. I challenge you to correct me on this.

Tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock.

Perhaps this is the song that you want:

Ok Josephine - let's examine your "economic fact" shall we?

Bearing in mind that a substantial proportion of legal economic migrants work in the public sector, by driving them out and simply replacing them with a more expensive, local workforce how will this affect the economy?

You'd be spending more public money for the same service and have difficulty finding anybody who wants to do the jobs on offer.

Since when did a low unemployment rate equate to a strong economy, anyway??

Joe - it's obvious that your understanding of economics and politics is so oversimplied that it is risable.

To answer your original question, my vote is for Rule Brittannia.

It's spelt: risible.

To carry on with the hijack of this thread, I learned in skule that the public sector is considered a non-productive segment of the economy. They do not produce widgets and therefore bypass the spin-off effect. They are only a drain on the economy.

Here in Canada it appears a majority of government jobs are held by immigrants. They choose to do this as the pay by our gov't surpasses the private sector, the benefits are incredible and the job security is beyond belief.

The end result: reaching a person on the other end of the phone with limited knowledge of the english language, or accents so thick as to be difficult to understand.

And no, I am not a bigot.

Parlez-vous Francais mouton? It's one of Canada's 2 official languages. Or are ewe too woolly-minded the realise that Canada's population is based on immigration from 34 ethnic groups - see Wikipedia - YOU are a member of one of those ethnic groups - which is what makes Canada a great place to live...|
