Soccer World Cup 2010

^Heh. You're probably a bit too young to remember that you guys hosted the damn thing back in '94, Jockboy :D

uh... we have to play england :D

I know. 1966 final, all over again. (!)

Meh. It's all relative.

;)

In that case, (insert smutty/suggestive comment here). (!) ..|

BOT, I sincerely hope you're all wearing something orange today, the brighter the better. Alas after much trying, goading, pleading and offering to render er... services... along the route to the stadium, I have still not managed to blag a ticket to Netherlands-Cameroon tonight. Sure, the result is meaningless unless either Denmark or Japan completely obliterate the other one to take top spot, but the Dutch fans seem to exist in a small, loud, festive party wherever they go and as my favourite team for many years I'd have loved to be in the ground.

Italy should hopefully go through as well, although given the performances of so many top teams thus far I wouldn't be surprised if they stumbled.

The match between Netherlands and Cameroun was played by gentlemen.

See how friendly they are with each other, even after Cameroun lost.

Class acts both of them (just like Maradona, who even went to hug and kiss the greek players).

On the other hand, the coach of the italians, the french, I'm glad they both lost.

Humble pie anyone???

can't say anybody here feels sorry for italy .. bwahaa :D

zowiee!

What a World Cup this has been! So many surprises and downright shockers! :eek:

Another late night waiting up to watch New Zealand play Paraguay. 1 hour til kickoff at 2 am our time.
This might be the game where we get our arses kicked. #-o

No, you didn't get your arses kicked!! I'm happy with New Zealand's performance. It was my 2nd favourite team since I lived in NZ for one year, and the team didn't disappoint me. It'd been awesome if you could've scored one goal against Paraguay (thou I like Paraguay too)

But now with you guys going back home, I only have Uruguay to go for!!!

Italy, what a shocker!! The French might be happy that some media attention and international laughter is now turning to another country.

japan : denmark - 3:1

great game! the japanese are really fast, those two penalty shots - awesome :) denmark with some chances but no luck :)

I got a comedic WC email today. Let's hope it doesn't offend anyone's patriotic sensibilities... :p

The 2nd round of World Cup 2010 is like World War 2:
The French leave early, the US arrive very late and England is left fighting the Germans.

What?

BOT: Well done to Samurai Blue - great result, and great football. Wow the Danes (read: Tomasson) looked out of it last night. And wow at Slovakia - great goals, even with the late rally by Italy.

Cant wait to know who's going to win it in the end

Team USA and especially Landon Donovan are the newest American heroes. :)

USA's got a fevah, and the only cure is more soccer! (!)

Not your guys :p hahahahahahahahahaha!

:eek: Oh wait not my guys either :( :-({|=

I'll bet on Argentina or Netherlands. As usual. And then not be at all surprised when it's Brazil.

Again.

lol@some dude in arkansas :)

I'm a bit surprised that there is public viewing outside of pubs in the US :)

ah wait .. no .. false friend. they call it public viewing here. but it's not a viewing with a casket, it's "watching the game in public/outside" ;)

here are few impressions from the match vs ghana

skip ahead a few times, to see different things except ear-blasting screaming ;)

Okay

So we have a final 16. Two of the potential favourites are definitely going home this round (Spain vs Portugal and England vs Germany).

So... cock on a block time, boys - pick who you think will win (and/or who you want to win) from those who are left.

I'm betting Argentina, but as always I really want the Netherlands to win it this time.

My predictions are notoriously bad. :o
And I couldn't even consider predicting final scores.

If I'd had time to watch and analyze the play of every team in every match up to now, I might be able to make some accurate predictions. But the matches I've watched have been just for fun, to watch the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. Oh yeah, and to lust after the Spanish guys. :badgrin:

So, no informed, intelligent predictions here, just SWAGs -- Stupid Wild-Ass Guesses. :lol:

Let's hope these don't jinx any team. :eek:

Uruguay
...vs..............In this one I'm going with Uruguay.
South Korea

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

USA
...vs..............I USA -- And I hope they don't allow a heart-stopping early (first 10 minutes) goal this time. :rolleyes:
Ghana

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Netherlands
...vs..............T The Dutch are just too strong and talented for Slovakia.
Slovakia

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Brazil
...vs............an Can't go wrong betting on Brazil here.
Chile

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Germany
...vs.............hi This is a tough one, but I think England won't get their act together... Germany to win.
England

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Argentina
...vs.............. r Another pretty safe prediction... Argentina.
Mexico

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Paraguay
...vs.............. J Japan could surprise, but I will go with Paraguay.
Japan

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Spain
...vs.............. Maybe this is the year Spain doesn't collapse. :D
Portugal

My predictions are close to urs Jake

Uruguay Vs S.Korea ==> Uruguay

USA Vs Ghana ==> USA

Netherlands Vs Slovakia ==> Slovakia

Brazil Vs Chile ==> Brazil

Germany Vs England ==> Germany

Argentina Vs Mexico ==> Argentina

Paraguay Vs Japan ==> Japan

Spain Vs Portugal ==> Portugal

I dunno why I feel a Protugal Vs USA final with the protugal winning

I'm soo nervous for tomorrow's match against Korea that I don't wanna make any predictions!!! I'm really lookng forward to this 2nd round. Not only cos I have my heart there, but also because there're great matches there to be played. England Germany, Spain Portugal, Argentina Mexico!!

But tomorrow is my day, first see my country in action, then, if we get through, see USA vs Ghana to see who our rival is!
