Soccer World Cup 2010

So unfortunate about Italy. Goodbye, Fabio Cannavaro. I will miss you.

I'm soo nervous for tomorrow's match against Korea that I don't wanna make any predictions!!! I'm really lookng forward to this 2nd round. Not only cos I have my heart there, but also because there're great matches there to be played. England Germany, Spain Portugal, Argentina Mexico!!

But tomorrow is my day, first see my country in action, then, if we get through, see USA vs Ghana to see who our rival is!
fed,

I'll be rooting for Uruguay with you! :D

I think Uruguay vs USA will be a very good match. FIFA/CocaCola World Ranking for May 26 has USA ranked #14 and Uruguay at #16.

I've been impressed with Uruguay's play.

Unless I've filled in my bracket wrong, I have Uruguay and Portugal the only teams with no goals scored against them. Your boys held off México, South Africa and France. ..|

USA will have to change their ways, and stop allowing early goals and then not scoring until the last minute.

I'll miss Cannavaro, too. :(

But, here on the internet, he will always be young, athletic and beautiful.

And I hate to admit it, but I'll miss Gattuso, also. He plays a little too rough for my taste, but his work ethic and never-say-die attitude earn my respect.

Gatusso!!! Yum. I love the expressions on his face, he's so masculine!

I'm so excited for the England vs. Germany match, it's not even funny.

Or the Netherlands vs. Brazil (I am assuming they will win their respective matches and go into quarter-finals).

My predictions are notoriously bad. :o
And I couldn't even consider predicting final scores.

Hey, mine haven't exactly been on song either. I don't think most people could have predicted this Top 16

I dunno why I feel a Protugal Vs USA final with protugal winning

That's a brave prediction! The US will need to get through (probably) Netherlands or Brazil in the next round if they get through this one.

I agree with most of Jake's predictions, but I think I'll trade the US for Ghana and Spain for Portugal. I hope I'm wrong about Spain, though.

1-0 to Uru at half time.

-d-

A very exciting match, right up to the rain-soaked end!

Congratulations to Uruguay! :=D:

Sometimes USA can surprise. And this World Cup has had no dearth of surprises. In the Confederations Cup last year, USA beat Spain in Semifinals and very nearly beat Brazil in the Final (USA 2 - 0 Brazil at half-time, IIRC).

But...

That was then, this is now.

Thanks JakeLucas!!! Maybe it's as you predicted, a quarter final match Uruguay vs USA! That'd be a very exciting and even game!

My god, I suffered so much in this match. The Koreans are really good, they didn't seem to get tired after so much running in a wet field. Forlan couldn't keep on running in the last part of the game.

This was a great beginning to the secound round. I hope the rest of the matches give us as many emotions as this beginning!

BTW, I forgot to say, it might be more interesting a game Uru-USA, but... I'd rather have to face Ghana than USA, just because USA seems such a strong team, with never-give-up attitude, and Donovan is a great player.

Let's see what happens

I know how you feel, fed! That's how it was for me watching USA vs Algeria. I really gave up hope, until that Golden Goal by Landon Donovan.

La Celeste played an excellent match. S.Korea had a very hard time getting through their defense. That worries me if USA plays Uruguay.

As for Uruguay running out of steam on the wet field, that's not so surprising. I always hated playing in the rain... passes are unpredictable, the ball is heavier and skips and slides and bounces crazy, there is water in your eyes, your clothes are wet and heavy and cold, your shoes are full of water and heavy.... ugh!

And now I'm getting excited (and nervous!) about the USA vs Ghana match!

What can you say about Switzerland?.... Not much really... Bye bye pretty well sums it up, haha.
Ha!

You can say they beat Spain!

You can say they played some very good matches.

And I'll say, "congratulations to Switzerland!" :=D:

lol@some dude in arkansas :)

I'm a bit surprised that there is public viewing outside of pubs in the US :)

ah wait .. no .. false friend. they call it public viewing here. but it's not a viewing with a casket, it's "watching the game in public/outside" ;)

Corny,

"some dude in Arkansas" a.k.a. arkansasjones might be the only person in his town who knows what soccer is. Poor guy has to watch the game all alone.

But he is a very enthusiastic fan, isn't he?

I just heard that the "public viewing" ;) in the Power and Light District in downtown Kansas City is expecting 10,000 people, the largest in USA, for the USA vs Ghana match.

It will be 92°F ~ 33°C and 56% humidity at match time. I think the bars might sell a lot of beer this afternoon.
