Out of topic: Are your relatives adopting the black kid because they need a kid or they adopting because they want to feel better about themselves? Maybe you can tell them in thing right now is a kid for China or something that looks Asian. Angeline Jolie has one, you know. Sorry, I can be very cynical when it comes to white people feeling the need to adopt kid of another color. It's my own problem but I just don't trust these families.

There are truly good parents like Sixthon but he and his partner are rare gems.

2. or! he could not fully understand and accept it and be teased and become anti-social ect ect depression w/e w/e ect ect

3. or! he could be one of those kids who tries to over achieve at everything trying to prove himself becase he was adopted ect ect

So small towns are filled with racists? Until the ethnic population and ethics of this town is confirmed, this argument is irrelevant and based solely on an assumption not a fact.

Their families are all white as far as I know and I'm not sure if they have any black friends.

I have two adopted cousins, one white and one from a visible minority, and both of them were curious about the family histories of their birth families. It helps to have a family with natural connections to people of many different backgrounds, but my point is that helps a white kid as much as a black kid when you want to raise someone who is well-rounded, who has self-confidence, and who has an open perspective towards other people.
