The only claims that these therapies work come from the people who run the programs. All impartial studies into the programs show they don't work. The third party researchers find that the person's sexual orientation does not change but they just suppress it. Pretty much all the claimed successes come from Bisexuals who simply decide not to seek same sex partners or gays who decide to be celebate. This is because these therapies simply cannot change what is a basic aspect of the personality. The worst outcome is the gay men who so want it to work they get into a unfullfilling marriage.

Regardless, that's still that mans body, and whether he still has homosexual feelings or not, he doesn't identify with that lifestyle, and most of the time he's more contempt with that. So.

Some people just are going do what they want to do.

My only fear, is me going down that path. I'm really wearing thin with the gay community. I am.

Also what would "no longer be gay" be? Straight? A mindless zombie? Bi?

If I could take a pill and it got rid of *all attractions* (ie: gay/bi/straight) basically makeing me 100% a-sexual, and 100% a-romantic (and no side effects) .. then fuck yeah, I'd take it.

You decide. If you want the effect to be straight or asexual. To me I'm leaning more on straight, because I"m a romantic person, and I like being loved. Being asexual means you're not attracted to love and sex.

You can't brainwash someone into something they are really passionate about.

You can say tour guides at Disney World and people like that are brainwashed in how they act, no. That's just their attitude and something they are passionate about and how they are.

I could never be that bubbly and happy all day.

But some people naturally can, and god bless them.

So that's why I fail to believe that brainwashing stuff.

Yeah but why do you have to punish yourself on their expense?

Like how I hate people say, "well just avoid them. block their facebook profile. If you see them at the coffee shop, go to another one." etc. That's bullshit.

It's also the same way on the opposite end with the same effect.

Why is it your crush is avoiding you after you opened up about your crush. Why do they run away from you and pick on you even more.

True which is why I agree if a grown man wants to enter one of these programs he should be allowed to but he ought to informed that he buying into a snake oil sales pitch. But it is absolutely wrong to force a minor into such a program, it is effectively child abuse.

What I can say to you and I really say it respectfully is that we - gay persons or even women - need to understand we don´t need to have a man/boyfriend/husband to be happy. We should find our happiness because we deserve it. So you´ve never had a boyfriend. It doesn´t disqualify you as person. It didn´t happen. Many persons don´t have boyfriends. Because they are shy, because they needed to study, because they needed to work or due to another reasons. Each of us has an own history. Nobody is obligated to follow standards that media sells.

But I feel so wretched though.

I'm at that age to where some of those tropes don't apply. "In school, too young." etc.

I see so many straight men who are alone, and I wish they were gay, I would totally be their boyfriend.

With gay men, all of them are assholes and hate me, or I don't find their picture of attraction, and it sucks.

That's the thing, I"m very much so romantic as well...but simple fact is also that I'm unfriendable (which by default also means unloveable), so they're polar opposites!
Being bi, I already have some attraction towards women (though I will also admit more strongly towards guys)
Going straight wouldn't fix the unfriendable/unloveable thing.

Getting rid of all feelings of love/attraction/romantic would basically make the 'unloveable' issue null and void.

I see no reason why a person couldn't have a crush on someone they might actually have a good chance of being with.
Basically 'a crush is just a crush' , whether its on the right person or the wrong person...
