I know ballcaphair's real name, along with willhunt's. I've been in touch with BCH's twin brother, and several of his friends. I've read the obit. Yes, he was real. Yes, he died in a climbing accident.

I can understand the skepticism. Though we would prefer to feel that JUB is a kind of 'safe place', with friends that we've gotten to know, and come to care about, perhaps even rely on, this IS the internet after all. What I can't quite fathom is the intensity of the snide prodding, and inferred derision.

What's the point? What is being attempted to be proven here, and why? Are we really all that cynical? Are we still checking for monsters under our beds before we go to sleep? Has our sense of basic decency, consideration, and compassion, been thrown into the mud of sensationalism, where doubt and insinuation carries the most weight?

Who, or what, can we believe anymore if we continue to promote "righteous indignity", supported by mere suspicion? Since some of you so highly doubt the veracity of your fellow members, how can we have any confidence in You?

And in response to Chaz' questions, yes, JUB in particular has made me, among others, that cynical and skeptical. Some of the biggest frauds and liars on the boards are still here, still lying.

When Willhunt was asked in private for any details, he demurred.

Yes, death is a difficult thing, especially when a young person dies, and perhaps even more when the accident was during a risky sport. But shutting down could have been one thing or the other.

I do indeed believe Chaz.

If Will had simply been as forthcoming, there wouldn't have been all the doubt on the part of people like me who DIDN'T know either BCH or Willhunt outside the forum.

Sorry, buddy. I see that you were posting while I was typing.

I have considered that, and still think it would be inappropriate without the family's consent. This demand for proof is equivalent of accusing someone of 'whatever', and forcing them to prove their innocence. That isn't the way it works, even in a court of law. The court of public opinion carries even less weight.

It's a no-win situation. In the interest of integrity, I'm willing to accept that loss. That information is not mine to freely share.

All of you are free to believe me, or not. That is your prerogative, all of the time, with everyone. I am being as forthright as I have the room to be. I kid you not.

By the way, for those of you who might care, sixthson is very real, and a pretty solid guy on top of that. It's entirely up to him, as well as any of you, what he cares to reveal about himself here. From what I've learned from, and about, him, I'm honored that he's shared with us as much as he has. I value his insights, and opinions, even if there may be times that we disagree, which isn't too often.
