the last film you watched thread

Star Trek (2009).... finally. Any decent Star Trek fan should slap me and tell me I don't deserve to be a ST fan. :D

They should rename this movie "Gay Star Trek". It's more appropriate. Zac Quinto? And what red-blooded gay boi could take their eyes off sexy Chris Pine??

Anyway, today it was "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea". The Disney version from 1953 or '52 or something like that. Such a cool movie. A shirtless (through most of the movie), young Kirk Douglas and handsome James Mason. I have to confess, I was having some very "non-Disney" thoughts during it.*|*

The American. Rather disappointing.

(spoiler)****

This is the 2nd George Clooney film I've watched in a row where he dies at the end. Is he trying to tell us something?

The Blind Side

Sandra Bullock's oscar-winning performance. She played a white, wealthy Southern Christian Republican who was genuinely compassionate - almost inconceivable.

Despite its flaws, what makes it work is being a true story.

Bergman's Hour of the Wolf. Cries and Whispers is still my favorite, but I haven't seen Fanny and Alexander since I was a kid. I need to put that in my queue.

The Science of Sleep. Nifty animations and neat ideas won't redeem a boring plot and dull characters.

Saw two current movies in two weeks.

The Last Exorcism------Awful,Awful,Awful. A bogus Reverend, who "pretends" to do exorcisms for people's money, ends up getting himself pulled into a real one. Stupidest "twist" ending I've ever seen.

The Devil----Great movie. Five people stuck in an elevator. One of them is a devil who is killing the others one by one. Hard to guess which one.

In theatres: Machete. Fun action movie. But not much else. Robert Rodriguez's Planet Terror was much better. If your into insanely gory mock-B-movie fare.

On DVD: Batman Begins. Always a good movie to revisit from time to time.

Holly Hunter, Harvey Keitel and Ana Paquin in The Piano

I've never been the Cronenberg fan that many people are. So I was unexcited to watch Scanners which I haven't seen since I was a teenager.

What a terrific surprise. It'd be petty of me to cite its faults in light of its excellences.

"Let The Right One In"

Sweedish Vampire film...but it's so much more than a vampire movie. Really enjoyed it. Hopefully the American version that comes out this week or next week "Let Me In" is good...from the trailer it seems as if they are heavily promoting it as a horror movie, but I really wouldn't classify "Let The Right One In" as a horror movie per se

A 1993 Jet Li movie, Lord of the Wu Tang. Ridiculous fun.
