** The Offical 2008 MLB Thead!!! **

Well, the Phillies handed us another win today by committing two throwing errors in the bottom of the 11th, but a win is a win! 2 out of 3 ain't bad! (especially after many "experts" were predicting a sweep - when will this team get it's due credit?)

The Cardinals have won 15 series this year already!

Something that I hope we can continue... ..|

I hope the Mets can turn something around there in NYC...(*8*)

Told you that 20-2 game was an aberration,Abs...Cards bouncing back nicely yesterday and getting some help from the Phillies winning today.I just love when the Phillies lose,I loathe them so much!:grrr:

Mets win two of three from Texas, and at least showed grit coming back in the first game today, though the poison pen resurfaced....and Lord,Brian Schneider ain't one to bet on running the bases!:##:

Thanks for your support for a Mets turnaround in New York(*8*).....though I think we Mets and Cards fans will be a wee bit more competitive when our teams face in St. Louis next week.Sorry Abs,but in St. Louis the Mets are going to clean the Cards clocks! And God help your beloved Redbirds when they come to Shea for the last time next month!

Sonny,I like getting Trot Nixon.I have no problems rooting for players who wore the Sox uniform....(other than Roger Clemens who is just an ass)Pedro is about as talented and competitivea pitcher who ever played, and though I wish he had been healthier in his Mets career....how could anyone not want him on their team?Hey,thank you Boston....you gave New York Babe Ruth...you're good for something!:p

Nixon may only be a part time player now but he is a grinder and winner, and that's the type of player we need more on the Mets. He'll be a help, even if not a major contributor.he did exceptionally well in Triple A,and most major leaguers at his age would have been too proud to scratch his way back to the majors, but this guy is a competitor!

Who the hell gets swept by the ROYALS?!?!?!?

Oh wait - that's us.

'Where the hell was our offense as well? I think we scored a total of 5-6 runs throughout the whole damn series.

What really pisses me off is that we pitched really well - we just couldn't find our bats. :(

:grrr::grrr::grrr:

If we get swept again next weekend when I'm in KC.............

Then again, who gets swept at home by the Yankees and have their asses handed on a plate in the process...the Astros!(or as someone green we know and love calls 'em,"Disastros")I did see some of that series but didn't have the heart to gloat!;)Well,we did lose Wang in the process for what amounts to the rest of the season....but God those Yankee bats were awesome!:D

Don't worry Abs,the Cards will get revenge next weekend and you'll come home happy....or you can really fire up the salvo between your Card and sonny and my Mets and we'll be ready for it!;)

2 outta 3 bradlee....

can we make it a sweep???

(!)

Mets/Cards tonight beginning of a 4 game series.

The Mets still are not seeing any consistency on the field while St. Louis is beginning to get healthy again. With Pujols back things could even more interesting. Should be a great pitchers duel tonight with Lohse and Maine so I expect a low scoring game.
Even with what seems like a never ending list of injuries, the Cards ability to stay near the top of the NL Central has been impressive.
And now as if the pitching was not good enough they have Mitchell Boggs :=D:

Behave yourself Abs, if the cards win tonight I want no dancing bananas (!)
or go girls.:gogirl:
unless you want another spanking. ;)

So, I'll be sure to post lots of bananas and go girls

I'm hoping that we can take the momentum of winning the past two games (and taking two of three from KC thank GOD - although we lost on Friday, the game I went to dammit!) and transfer that over to our little home stretch, esp. vs the Mets and the Cubs.

We've played very well at home this season, and I think we'll need all the help we can get - although, I think Albert's HR from last night is still sailing somewhere out towards Nebraska

I'm really excited for this series... :=D: (oh and thanks for the props towards Boggs sonny, can you believe that shit??? 3-0, who'da thunk it?)

I'm not going out tonight or anything, I'm just going to watch it at home with a coupe of cocktails....drove all the way from KC to STL today and didn't stop - I thought my bladder was gonna pop!

GO CARDS!!!

(!)(!)(!):gogirl::gogirl::gogirl::gogirl:Just testing.....a shame we can't go more than eight smilies!:p

Not good so far.....John Maine looked like Cy Young material in spring training but has pitched well at times but others like tonight looked drearily ordinary. The Mets still look confused, defensive and lack composure and appear this year to be headed for mediocrity,in which fortunately the rest of the division appears to be well versed too.Not encouraging, though as the Mets seem to have really never recovered from last September's nosedive out of te playoffs.

Well,if they lose tonight we still have 3 out of 4,series split or take one game and avoid complete disaster to look forward to.Or if worse comes to worse, see you guys at Shea in a month!#-o

I'm glad Pujols is back....what a great player he is,what numbers at 28 he has compiled...next home run is number 300!

I love Skip Schumaker and Aaron Miles....they're real gamers and cute as hell, and I just love the goateed look on Aaron!:D
It's great to see Rick Ankiel really developing defensively as a center fielder with a powerful arm and fine instincts..and offensively he has room to grow but his power is definitely substantial and it says something about his character how hard he is working at being a good MLB position player. He's always been a great athlete.

Keith Hernandez working the Mets broadcast booth at their SNY network talking with co-broadcaster Gary Cohen about how beautiful the Cards uniform is...that regal red and white is his favorite. He especially loves when the Cards player wears his socks high rather than covered. It is a traditional, great uniform and he knows what he speaks spending the first half of his career as a great Cards first baseman and hitter before being traded to the Mets.Keith is terrific in the booth...fair,honest and funny. And Cards and Mets fans can claim him as one of their own!:luv:

^ I would fuck the ever living shit out of Skip Schumaker...

!oops!

Watch how pretty he is during this series...I want him to be my husband.

I'll wait to comment after the game/series is done :D

Up until sonny gives his 2 cents ;)

Oh,Skip is a hottie....but you get first dibs on him,I'll be fine with Aaron Miles....or Rick Ankiel....or Adam Wainwright....or that really cute shortstop they've got!:p

C'mon Sonny, say something!!!It was bad last night(the Mets announcers even had an entertaining call-in segment as the Mets fall far behind to help keep things interesting)Discussing the virtues of Fredbird the Redbird over Mr. Met(as if!):pI loved what Keith Hernandez and Gary Cohen mused over regarding that "great mascot debate"...speaking of Fredbird,it was wondered aloud"What exactly does he do"?:p

Whatever happens in St. Louis(hopefully Abs will get the chance to catch one game)come the end of the month when the Cards come to Shea for the last time, that will be an event Mets fans and Cards fans will have a great deal of fun with!..|

^ Cubs and Rays are the best teams in baseball right now. I hope nothing more than a classic Cubs collapse later in the season ;)

It just warms the cockles of my heart to see Boston get swept by Tampa!Red Sox Nation must be all beside themselves now,and I couldn't be happier!:gogirl:(!)--%----%----%----%----%--

You shoulda highlighted that just for Sam!;)Those Cubs fans and their pipe dreams!:p

My My, you guys are wicked today. I LOVE IT!! :D

Tough loss for the Mets last night. :( but the Cards won a good fight. Mets needed a little more and could not deliver. So what else is new.

Soooo I don't think I've come down off my high yet, winning this game today. I thought the Cubs had it in the bag.

Kerry Wood (who has been damn good as the Cubs' closer) comes in today, we're down two runs. He walks the first two batters after walking 9 people all year. A glimmer of hope shines on in Abs' eyes - not to mention the fact that I thought I was going to puke and I was so damn nervous - I wasn't even at the game! I'll be there tomorrow though ;)

Anyways, Kennedy comes in and ropes a double down the right field line. Down by one.

Could we?

Are we seriously....only one run down?

Two quick outs, and my hopes are starting to get dashed.

Rick Ankiel - holy shit what a story - comes in and gets a 2 run single with the bases loaded! I thought I was going to jump out of my skin!

What an exhausting day. I hope I can recharge my batteries for the game tomorrow afternoon!

Go Cards!!!

I mean just look how pretty :luv:

He sure is!:DGreat story and smile....have fun at the game and good luck against the Cubs, take two out of three!..|I just can't stop smiling at that special series avatar of yours,it's funny as hell Abs!:lol:I'll reserve comments about my Mets(and Yankees vs Boston) til tonight!;)

Oh, and fuck you Jim Edmonds.

Seriously.

I appreciate what you did while you were here but you're a pussy.

Go away. After your comments today, you can eat me you piece of shit.

*edit* OK, I'm watching a local newschannels top 10 highlights of him as a Cardinal. I got chills and a couple of small tears in my eyes watching him. :(

*edit again* Maybe I'm just venting at the fact that the Brewers got CC Sabathia. That'll help our chances of competing in the NL Central
