** The Offical 2008 MLB Thead!!! **

Rays up 3-1 going into the eighth on Willie uybar's home run off of Jon Lester!!!:gogirl:

Hold those Sox at Bay,Tampa!:p

^ Love ya love ya love ya brad...

but

GO RAYS!!!!!!!!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rays win 3-1 and are going to the World Series against Philadelphia!!!David Price does a terrific job shutting down the Red Sox in the ninth and ends the Red Sox amazing near resurrection after being down 3 games to 1.Terrific start by Matt Garza allowing two hits and one run over seven innings. The Rays are a great story in themselves, going from expansion fodder to deep farm system resulting in the ALCS championship after capturing their first AL east championship(and first winnig season)ever.Tremendous job,Tampa and they are going to give the Phillies all they can handle!

Boston did itself proud and just lost to a better team. But like I always say, hate them as I do I will never take them for granted..they are a truly worthy adversary with no quit in them.

Phillies and Rays :)

Let's get this game started (!)

Thanks Brad (*8*)

It's you and me against the rest ..|

Boston did itself proud and just lost to a better team. But like I always say, hate them as I do I will never take them for granted..they are a truly worthy adversary with no quit in them.

I feel the same way, just like the Phillies, Boston played tough and fought one hell of a battle.
But there can only be one WS champ and this year it has to be the Rays.

When The rays were Down to their last chance, they proved they were World Series worthy,
completing an awesome pennant run , holding off Boston 3-1.
Are either Matt Garza or David Price free agents next year?
can we get em for the Mets?? ;)

The Rays nearly let it slip away when they blew a seven-run lead in Game 5 and lost a bad fight on Saturday. But when rookie David Price struck out J.D. Drew with the bases loaded to end the eighth inning, Tampa Bay showed us they were the team to beat.

Brad, your team has nothing to be ashamed off, they fought a great battle and went down fighting hard. They came thisclose to winning their third crown in five years. Of course I understand why you are rooting for the Phillies, it's the same reason I am not.

Scrub sweetheart, honey, baby cakes, prepare for a Rays victory. Those punk Phillies have gone as far as they are going to go this year.

I'm telling you sonny....Scott Kazmir could have been a really nice addition to the Mets rotation this year.Ah,the fools gold that was Victor Zambrano, and the mets thinking they could get the best out of him!:(

Your perspective is on the money as always, sonny!Don't forget I was on the Tampa bandwagon first, though!:p

I'm hoping for a competitive, exciting WS,however.Haven't had too many of those recently! But Tampa emerges victorious in 7.The perfect storybook end,and classic baseball lovers end as well, to another great baseball season!:D

I really want to see the underdogs win Sonny, don't get me wrong, and I think I'd be more prone to rooting for them cause of the Sox losing out.And the see through uniforms!
Your right, nothing for the Sox to be ashamed off,and I am sure things will be just as exciting next year!

Going or need to go:
Wakefield
Varitek
Lowell
Delcarmen
Timlin
Cotsay
Crisp

Keepers:
Masterson
Beckett
Pedrioa
Youkilis
Ellsbury
Drew
I'd gather the first three would be tough for you but you feel it is time for new blood there.Jason Varitek is still in many ways the heart and soul of this club.....but you would know better actually seeing hiom play far more than me if time has passed him by.And God,he is gorgeous...those thighs and that ass!

My only quibble would be Coco Crisp going over Jacoby Ellsbury.I think Ellsbury will still be a fantastic player even though he disappointed during the season and the playoffs but Coco Crisp did a solid job in the playoffs. He would be good trade material because he still has an upside Brad.....but is Ellsbury that much better potentially to you?

Boston,Tampa....Toronto has good pitching...Damn Brad, the Yanks better improve their roster or they may be looking at fourth place,AL East!

Coco missed that slide into 2nd,I'll never forget that.Very pivotal part of the loss IMO.
Wakefield will be the hardest for me to go,I just love him to death>If there ever was a look I go for that is it.

Ell is young,he just needs work, but yeah I am disappointed too.

Then there is that ever lovaeable Dustin....<SWWWWWWOOOOONNNN>>>
Mistakes are always tough to get over, especially when they lead to losing the series.God knows I'm shocked Boston fans forgave Bill Buckner for that error against the Mets....I guess once they finally got that WS championship they could be forgiving.

I go more Varitek over Wakefield, but Tim is still pretty damn hot.Sorry to see such a mainstay for Boston reach the end of the road....you got to respect and appreciate the way Boston plays, and how they're run. They are damn fortunate they got back Theo Epstein(a great GM and one gorgeous guy, too)after he briefly left the organization not in the best of terms.

Looking at Dustin Pedroia's stats....he hit for great average last year too and now shows good power and is a doubles machine....and what a competitor! He keeps developing his game(even stolle 20 bases this year) he could be a Hall of Famer when his career is done. He'll be the heart and soul of the organization soon enough for years to come. He's the type of guy I call regular guy hot...not an Ellsbury model type but someone who is still in that rugged, blue collar way very hot.

Before the WS starts...

Wow is all I can say. !oops!

I'm certain Joey will want you to fill him in on every detail(off the boards,of course...Joey's a gentleman,ya know );)All I can say is a hot sex dream is never innapropriate so long as he's legal!;)

Tampa vs Philly....damn got to wait til Wednesday night to get things going but Philly better not underestimate the Rays. They have great young arms and a solid offense and great tenacity and confidence.I am picking Tampa in 7!:D

*fans face and in my best Scarlet O’Hara voice says*
I do declare I am just so overwhelmed by your kindness, I just don’t know what to say, I feel a little faint. :D

Ok, enough, let’s get back to baseball.:=D:

So who will win the WS?
Here is what I’m thinkin

The Phillies
As for pitching, they have a real honest to goodness ace in Cole Hamels, who has been exceptional during the playoffs, giving up three runs during the postseason in three games. He's been almost unstoppable.
But then you've have Jamie Moyer, who's been getting beat up pretty good and with this Rays line up
he may well get his pee-pee slapped pretty good.
Brett Myers ain’t been so hot either but somehow manages to win. Joe Blanton isn't a bad pitcher either, but the Rays will get his number early.
Then there is that awesome Phillies bullpen, they dominated the play offs.
I read the Phillies' bullpen posted a 3.19 ERA during the regular season, and was able to shut down Fanny Ramirez and pretty much the rest of the Dodgers line up during the NLCS.

Now to the Rays,
Kazmir, Garza, Shields, and Sonnanstine are all awesome pitchers. I like their pen as well,, yeah I know, their bullpen pretty much fall apart against Boston in game 5 but they are still pretty good. Look at what they did in Game Seven on Sunday night. David Price is as good a closer as you could ask for.
So Tampa Bay has better pitching then Philadelphia.

As for hitting, Tampa Bay crushed 16 home runs during the post season, with Upton and Longoria jacking four each. Carlos Pena had, was it 3?
But Aybar, Crawford and Baldelli also had impressive at bats. Plus those dudes can run, the speed on the bases is impressive, Beep-Beep.
Of course, the Phillies have some power too. Utley, Rollins, Victorino and of course we gotta mention Howard and Burrell.

I will be great baseball but Tampa Bay wins the World Series in six.

Hey Brad, did you hear what Fanny said when told about the Rays win?
He said, Good, good  what a punk

The players have spoken. For the second time in his career Albert Pujols was named the most outstanding player in the National League, based on a survey of his peers. Pujols beat out Philadelphia’s Ryan Howard and Atlanta’s Chipper Jones to win 2008’s Players Choice Award.

You look what Albert has done since day 1 with the Cardinals,we're talking about a player who if his track record remains anything close to his current production will be an overwhelming first ballot Hall of Famer 5 years after retirement. You take into consideration his elbow problems and he still maintains a tremendous level of play.I'd hope he does go for offseason surgery to correct the problematic ligament....he probably would be good as new and ready to contribute fairly early into the season. He'll likely have to deal with it sooner or later,so get it over with and return quickly to his outstanding level of production.

Cole Hamels was outstanding tonight, and the Phillies bullpen dominating.Scott Kazmir was just a little off,and it wasn't enough.Philly was awful in runners in scoring positions situations.....but having their ace out there going a strong seven innings, allowing just two runs on five hits plus having just enough offense to get by was the difference tonight on a 3-2 result..I can't cheer for Philly but I got to give them their props tonight.

^ LOL

Go Ms Scrub! :gogirl:
