Janet Jackson and Whitney Houston will make triumphant returns to the American Music Award stage later this month!
The duo was announced as the latest round of performers to be added to the 37th Annual show late Wednesday.
Jackson, fresh off an ABC feature with Robin Roberts (preview) and a Number Ones disc, will open the show with what is being billed as a "special opening performance".
While not much else has been revealed about the special performance, it is believed that Jackson will perform some form of tribute to late brother and entertainer, Michael Jackson. However, with a "Number Ones" package out and the song "Make Me" growing on fans, Jackson might just surprise fans and viewers with something fresh.
Joining Jackson, Whitney Houston has signed on to perform the inspiring song "I Didn't Know My Own Strength" during the show.
Taken from Houston's successful comeback bid "I Look To You," "I Didn't Know My Own Strength" follows early fall singles "Million Dollar Bill" and "I Look To You".
Celebrating Houston's career and achievements worldwide, the American Music Awards will also honor the diva with its AMA International Artist Award.
The 37th Annual American Music Awards air November 22 on ABC.
Rihanna, Green Day, Shakira, Mary J. Blige, Keith Urban, Lady Gaga, Eminem, Alicia Keys, Jennifer Lopez, the Black Eyed Peas, Jay-Z, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Daughtry and Adam Lambert are also due to perform.
