you know where the people who don't want to eat it are all dumb, cross-eyed, over-weight and when asked "what do they say about it," just pause and go "uh.. um... uh..."

Just for the record, High Fructose Corn Syrup isn't fructose. It's a bizarre substance that doesn't exist in nature and can't be broken down by your system so it spikes your insulin, causes obesity, diabetes and stops you from feeling the "I've had enough to eat" feeling leading you to eat even more.

It's poison which should be illegal but it's cheap and doesn't go bad...even cockroaches don't eat it.

The only thing worse is msg, which is an excitotoxin and stimulates the pancreas. and if you don't think you're eating msg, think again. Anything listed with 'Seasoning' in the ingredients is laced with it.

Between those two poisons, it is no wonder America is so unbelievably and grossly obese.

i know HFCS isn't fructose. But fructose isn't the healthiest thing in the world either. I just love that HFCS is your button. Makes me all warm inside, :)

I think everyone gets to worried about this stuff. I mean like she said it's fine in moderation. That's the key moderation. Hell if all you do is eat cabbage your not gonna be too healthy.

My Peeve Is Those So-call "Healthy" Products That Use This Stuff! Yogurts, Salad Dressings, Sports Drinks, Waters...

eh talking about it won't stop people from eating it ...

Good old Mono-Sodium Glutamate (MSG).
The crap that makes you thirsty as fuck.

Eh, it's all over the place in Asian countries. And in Chips.

It's also in "seasonings", "natural flavor", "Autolyzed yeast", "Calcium caseinate", "Gelatin", "Glutamate", "Glutamic acid", "Hydrolyzed protein", "Monopotassium glutamate", "Monosodium glutamate", "Sodium caseinate", "Textured protein", "Yeast extract", "Yeast food", "Yeast Nutrient", etc etc.

Just one counterclaim to these stupid commercials is this:

Study Finds High-Fructose Corn Syrup Contains Mercury

That MSG ^report^ is scary, you really have to know the company and their suppliers before spending one's money. Disregard the government's advice, they're protecting big business, fast food, and corn farmers.

If only people could also get this upset about the ingredients in their lube, like parabens, propylene glycol, EDTA, mineral oil, etc!

It's one of the many reasons I make all my own food. It's annoying to have to do it and I probably still get MSG in things like spices, "organic, low sodium chicken stock" and fuck knows what else.

I still laugh, though, at the thread we had a while back where California had made it illegal to serve trans fats in restaurants and the clueless conservatards all chimed in with their "Libruls taking away my FREEDOM" bullshit.

It's funny to me that people want to be "free" to eat foods that are proven to be poison and cause heart disease and cancer but they don't really have a problem with the Bush admin tapping their phones.

Ah, but moderation on HFCS doesn't exist if you consume many items on the supermarket shelves these days. If you make yourself a sandwich, it's in the bread. If you have a soda with your sandwich, it's in the soda. If you have a small dessert...well, you get the picture.

I had to check to see if Ac'cent was still available,
and it is!

For all the negative publicity it's had, why is Ac'cent still on the market?

=====================

There have been reports that, when ingested in large amounts, monosodium glutamate may produce such physical reactions as burning sensations, facial tightness or pressure, and a tingling sensation in some individuals. This hypersensitive reaction, first reported in 1968, is commonly called "Chinese restaurant syndrome" because cooks in some Chinese restaurants may use M.S.G. extravagantly. Subsequent studies have shown no conclusive link between the syndrome and the consumption of normal levels of M.S.G., however.

Yeah, one would be lucky these days to get real sugar in anything, HFCS is cheaper too, so corporations are able to get more profits while reducing their costs. Its all about profits in the long run for corporate pigs.

For many years I have watched how the food industry has gone from feeding the masses to slowly but surely fattening and killing us all . There are so many different types of additives and what I call appetite enhancers in food to the point of being ridiculous. It has gotten to the point that when I go to get groceries I am always looking at the ingredients first and foremost. Fat , sodium, and caloric content I check later. I do not drink sodas, sports drinks, and even do not eat yogurt or cereal when I see HFCS as an ingredient. If a food item has hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated on the label I'm not going to buy it. A rule of thumb for me has always been if you cannot spell the ingredient , pronounce it or the ingredient sounds like something that should go into an atomic bomb instead of inside you for good nutrition and health. Put that shit back on the shelf!!!! I always try to eat some raw fruits and veggies everyday and also exercise twice a day as well. My grandmother always told me that "You don't have to have nothing in your life that you were not born with." I wasn't born with a cigarette in my mouth so I don't smoke, etc. , etc. Another thing too... there is a documentary out on DVD called "King Corn" that I think everyone should check out too.

I'm kinda scared to spice up my food now with all this talk about MSG. I didn't know about it D: Is it very common in a lot of spices or just certain types?
