^ Indeed. Our political parties have gone from governing parties to virtually non-existent several times even over my own lifetime. The failing parties always bounced back. There was even an election wherein one major party didn't even gain enough seats in parliament to even be a party, let alone a major one.

There was never a dictatorship (except for Harper who liked to call the Government of Canada the 'Government of Harper'.

In the US immigrants overwhelmingly vote democrats, so the priority of the democrats is massive immigration, legal and illegal; during the same period, th democrats have facilitated abortion of 70+million American children. Our media are dominated by strongly biased democrats. Our universities discriminate against conservatives in hiring and in accepting students. The effect is that it is doubtful that there can ever be another non democrat president.
 
And crazy, senile racists, xenophobes, racists who pose as xenophobes, transphobes and homophobes seem to be overwhelmingly Republican, and want to remove others' rights, including the rights of every vagina owner.

The Republicans view is totalitarian, with gun rights to insert a veneer of freedumb.

I think the Brexit vote demonstrates all is not as well as you would have us believe. The thread What is happening in Britain in hot topics has descriptions of problems caused by the immigrants. As a liberal you not doubt applaud much of the anti British animus just as liberals applaud the end of our democracy.
 
If you are a gay person and you want your rights to grow and be sustained then you never ever vote Republican. Thier whole agenda is the christian right who wants all of our rights repealed.

As has been proved time and time again TRUMP is HATE and he has opened the Pandora's box of hate for gays, immigrants, blacks, Hispanics, Muslims and when anyone disagrees it ends in a lawsuit from the mouth that never shuts up. While the choice is a hard swallow because of all the shit flying about emails that have found nothing of significant importance; it is a smokescreen to hide the venomous hate that seeps into the pores of the hateful whose hateful voice has been recognized and accepted by Trump's campaign.
