On-Topic Trump Bans Syrian Refugees

Funny how the person who bitched (yes bitched) how Obama had no right to use executive orders is now using the same executive orders. It was unconstitutional for Obama but ok for Trump? Can you say hypocrite?

I didn't click the link. What's the correct answer?

So TrumpCo.'s Minister of Propaganda, Sean Spicer....makes the case that even those 5 years of age and younger could be terrorists:

Asked on Monday whether Trump’s order — which critics have called a “Muslim ban” — should apply to 5-year-old children, White House press secretary Sean Spicer gave a clear answer: yes.

“That’s why we slow [the process] down a little,” Spicer said at the daily press briefing. “To make sure that if they are a 5-year-old, that maybe they’re with their parents and they don’t pose a threat. But to assume that just because of someone’s age or gender or whatever that they don’t pose a threat would be misguided and wrong.”

The argument, essentially, is that basically anyone from the restricted Muslim-majority countries can do dangerous things, so we should carefully vet and potentially ban even young children from entering the US. It shows the breadth of Trump’s order: It truly is meant to affect any traveler from the seven countries (Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, or Yemen) on the order’s list.

Funny how Jared Kushner seems to forget the life of his grandmother as a refugee.

His role in all of this won't be forgotten either.

'The world's doors were closed': Jared Kushner's grandma on refugee life
Grandmother of Trump’s son-in-law gave interview criticising America’s refusal to accept Jews fleeing Holocaust

An interview with the late grandmother of Donald Trump’s son-in-law and close aide Jared Kushner has re-emerged in which she describes her anguish over America’s refusal to accept Jews fleeing the Holocaust.

The rediscovery of the video comes amid an international furore over the US president’s executive order denying entry to citizens of seven Muslim countries.

Excerpts from the transcript of the interview with Rae Kushner, taped in 1982 and published in the US Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, have been reported in several Israeli newspapers this week and contain parallels with the situation faced by refugees today.

Aww, c'mon, click the link. Maybe CNN is wrong.

Maybe you and CNN are both wrong.

(c) Pursuant to section 212(f) of the INA, 8 U.S.C. 1182(f), I hereby proclaim that the entry of nationals of Syria as refugees is detrimental to the interests of the United States and thus suspend any such entry until such time as I have determined that sufficient changes have been made to the [United States Refugee Admissions Program] USRAP to ensure that admission of Syrian refugees is consistent with the national interest.

Executive Order: Protecting The Nation From Foreign Terrorist Entry Into The United States (The White House; January 27, 2017)

Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate. Whenever the Attorney General finds that a commercial airline has failed to comply with regulations of the Attorney General relating to requirements of airlines for the detection of fraudulent documents used by passengers traveling to the United States (including the training of personnel in such detection), the Attorney General may suspend the entry of some or all aliens transported to the United States by such airline.

Supposedly none, yet. But It takes a bigger idiot to think it can't or won't ever happen here. This is not the world of our grandparents anymore. Before 9/11 did terrorists ever attack America via a fleet of commercial airliners before? Just look at Paris. Do you really believe it can't happen here?

Can it happen here? Yes. Should we surrender to fear and hatred doing what the terrorists want us to do? No. Can terrorists hurt America with their acts of terror? Yes. Can they destroy America with their acts of terror? NO! But they can make us defeat ourselves if we let them.

During the campaign one of Trump's folks posed a thought experiment to illustrate how he thought of the terrorists hiding among the refugees situation. He asked if you know that a bowl of jelly beans contained three jelly beans that would kill you would you eat a handful. Now the interesting thing with that scenario, some very smart folks crunched the numbers based on the number of terrorists that have we know about and the size of the refugee crisis. The results, the proposed three jellybeans are in a bowl the size of an olympic sized swimming pool filled to the rim with good jellybeans.

Now keeping in mind that each of those good jellybeans represents men, women and especially children who are suffering and in need of help, my answer given those odds as a HUMAN being I would gladly take several handfuls, hell I'd take them by the bucket full. Since there no guarantee that stopping the refugees is going to stop all future terrorists, as the examples that have happened so far shows, if you really want to be safe from all the nasty terrorists why don't you just go home, lock all your doors, barricade the windows and hide in the closet whimpering in terror and let the rest of get on with helping people in need. If some of us get killed in the process at least we died trying to help people and preserving the Christian and American values this country was built on.

Terrorist will only defeat this country if we abandon our beliefs and give them the victory they want over us by their pathetic attempts to terrorize us. You can be a HUMAN being and an American or you can be a pathetic coward wearing a tin foil hat. Decide.

You know, it's that exact mindset, and wrapping yourself in the old red, white and blue, that will be America's downfall. Even the world's greatest castles raised their drawbridges occasionally for their own protection. Just look at Europe. Is America greater than Europe and their beliefs?

There's about a 1 in 12,000 chance of being shot by another American in America.

The chances of being killed by a refugee terrorist in America are around 1 in 2,300,000,000.

Maybe the better term for those who are irrationally fearful about refugees fleeing warzones is Delusional Fantasist.

If we allow the narrative ISIS and all their ilk want to portray, as them defending against a West that really wants to strike at Islam, then we continue t do exactly what Trump and Co. are doing. While saying they aren't imposing a Muslim ban, slowly but surely that is where they want to go.

I'm not going to bash Middle America in the process. But I'm not going to defend the actions of President Trump here. He criticizes all he wants President Obama's record on Syria and the Middle East(and frankly I don't think one can say Obama's policies were a highlight of his administration) but now all Trump is doing is making it easy for the radicals to point and say, "they really are against Muslims". Saying things like we should have taken the oil in Iraq, and maybe we'll get the opportunity again.. well that certainly doesn't add to Trump's credibility.

Good to see that New York, Massachusetts and Virginia have joined Washington in suing TrumpCo. over the ban.

Trump should have halted all immigration, eliminating the discrimination issue. If we cannot stop it our democracy and economy are doomed.
