Waiting and Waiting to see the doctor

His long delays and lack of an answer would seem to discredit the NH system.

There was no delay in his treatment....he received standard treatment for an urinary infection...which can in some cases take upto six months to complete...

OCD personalities can be very impatient, and argumentative with their physician...when the treatment takes longer than their lack of patience can endure....

Had travis82 disclosed his medical qualifications, to justify his observations I might have taken more interest in this thread.

So, what are your medical qualifications, to judge him?

The brownish blood is not regarded by your doctors as serious, so relax.

Thank you.

Wow Travis, I just read all this stuff. I cannot believe you allow this to go on for months. You should expect your GP to see you the same day.. worst case next day. Dont talk to his nurse, you not paying to see her.. besides it is none of the nurse's business. and also do not allow the nurse get between you and the doctor. When you get to the doctors rooms and the nurse say 'can i help you'.. say sure tell the doctor i want to see him.. if she asks what about.. tell her its none of her business.. if she says he is busy then wait for the previous patient to walk out then you get up and walk in.. if she protests that GP is busy.. tell her to mind her own business, ignore her and go in anyway.

Talk to the doctor only.. If the doctor is still a little bored then ask him directly how much money he wants, to make it possible for him to see you today..

if he still wont see you then he is no good or disinterested and find another doctor that is interested.

Again.. don't talk to the nurse.. if you phone and she asks what you want to see him about.. tell her that it's none of her business and to put you through.

Then when he sees you, remember that you are the customer (the boss - the boss is the one doing the paying) and he is the service provider (the one working for the money you are paying him).. Don't leave his office until he has answered all of your questions to your satisfaction.

Don't let him cover his ass / fob you off to a urologist.. This is a money making ploy.. you get to pay the GP and you get to pay the urologist. Ask the GP why he has so little confidence in his medical ability that he feels the need to send you elsewhere. If he starts making excuses like a blubbering idiot then you really need another more capable doctor, one that is confident in his ability to fix your UTI all on his own in about 4 days flat using the correct antibiotics.

If he is doing his job right.. he should offer you about 3 or 4 alternative antibiotics.. You should expect him to discuss the primary and side effects of each and why the one he chooses is the best for you currently.

Also, as others have said, clean yourself properly at least once, or in need twice every day, yes, wash it diligently with soap and water.. get all the white stuff off.. top and bottom, and in need you can also bathe your dickhead, in fact you can clean your entire dick in a gentle solution of salt water.. that should get the bacteria running for their lives.

Last thing.. pay the GP in real cash.. no he doesn't want your medical aid or credit card.. he wants cash that he can put in his back pocket and not have to pay tax on.

Another thing.. if you don't want to wait to see your doctor.. then spare him having to deal with the medical aid and wait 6 months to be paid less 30% and then still be taxed on it... just pay him cash in notes on the 4th day when the infection has gone.. and don't be a wop and go give any money to the nurse.. give it to the doc in his hands without the nurse seeing it.. If he does a good job give him a good tip as well.. maybe 20% to show your appreciation.. always remember that he is a service technician that you are paying by the hour to provide medical services to yourself..

So many people pussyfoot around doctors.. doctors are there for your benefit.. not the other way around.. well from your perspective anyway.. if the doctor does not do his job promptly and efficiently.. fire him and get one that does respect you and the money you pay him.

Thanks for the reply.

Thanks for the reply. We have great healthcare in Singapore but it can be quite expensive.

I spent a lot of money on medical bills for my urinary infections.

You are so...............smart and clever. Yes, I suffer from OCD. I have a habit of spending a lot of time washing my hands and spending a lot of time in the shower.

An easy diagnosis...just good experience on the job .....I am very familiar with the Singapore national health service...

And out of curiosity, is the anxiety that you feel over washing your hands and showering similar to the anxiety that this urinary tract issue is causing?

Not really.

Right now, I'm not sure if the UTI is back or am I worry too much?

How do you know for sure if you have UTI?

I have a habit of masturbating. Should I completedly stop masturbating in order to reduce my chance of contracting UTI again?

I heard that after masturbating, you need to pee immediately to flush out the semen. Otherwise you can contract UTI.

Now when I masturbate, I don't normally pee immediately. I'm afraid of contracting UTI again so I drank three glasses full of water so that I will feel the urge to pee later.

I'm scared and worried. I just don't want to contract UTI again and go through the whole horrible ordeal again.

Are you drinking some cranberry juice, or taking cranberry extract pills from any drug store. It supposedly makes it harder for the bacteria to cling to the walls of the urinary system. At the drug store, you can by AZO strips, which, after you wet one in the urinary stream may change color, indicating that you do or do not have a UTI. Probiotics, available in capsule form and in yogurt is said to help avoid UTIs.

You've seen a urologist, you've had a urinalysis and a uroscopy. At this point, you've done everything. It all shows that there is no UTI.

I think the cranberry juice is just a myth/urban legend.

I don't know. Recently, I feel the urge to pee frequently. Also when I pee, it feels a bit warm.

I already pull back my foreskin and clean everyday. It's very clean now.

I notice that now, I occasionally have leakage of urine. Sometimes, when I sneeze, cough or move about ...a bit of urine will leak out.

The evidence is that there is no UTI. There was no bacteria in your urine and you've been through treatment with antibiotics just in case there may have been a UTI. This is not to say that you don't have symptoms; however the evidence is that there is not an infection.

Stepping back from this, you've had two courses of antibiotics, a ureteroscopy/cystoscopy and and you've had multiple physicians reassure you, however you still remain anxious. At this point, the anxiety seems to be the issue.
