Attention What are you doing at the moment? 2024-25

I'm officially on my first vacation in 3 years so I was able to actually sleep in. Its a staycation but it feels really nice not to have to respond to emails or deal with clients/ consultants for a week. I think i might try baking bread for the first time.

I used to bake bread off and on. I don't have an oven now ( :cry: ), but I'm thinking when I have a working oven again, I'll probably start baking bread again. I miss how good home baked bread is. And I figure it's probably healthier than a lot of store bread, loaded with sugar and chemicals.

I've been considering this. I had some limited experience in the past, although I much preferred bread made with a more conventional approach. But I have been wondering if a bread machine wouldn't serve my current needs well enough. And Goodwill prices make it a small loss investment.

Part of me wishes I could let laundry slide... Although not quite as much as a month. One minus to having to air dry since the dryer went out that I've discovered (or rediscovered): since it takes time to dry stuff, and unless you have infinite line space (I don't), you need to keep up with laundry.

Oddly, though, depsite this, I don't miss the dryer that much. Part of me likes drying outdoors. Then, the dryer just really wasn't very good.
 
Cooling off.

Went to see the neighbors before they move, at their invitation, and was greeted at the door with the husband on his phone, stayed on his phone like 10 minutes, chatting with his realtor, talking about church, blah, blah, blah.

He finally ended it, and then I asked a question about the sale close, and he took another call, so I got up, put my shoes back on, and walked home.

Fuck.

It's one thing to take an urgent call, completely another to treat a guest like a piece of furniture. I don't hang out over there, ever. Both husband and wife do that and both are oblivious about how rude they are with their phones.

Good riddance.
 
I was looking at the yard to see what plants to get. Also going online to research replacing the furnace and hot water heater. Furnace 21years old, hot water heater 13 years old. Also to schedule Mass Save come in to do an audit. Do it now while the weather is warm and get it done. Both furnace and hot water heater are at the end of life.
 
Just finished doing my morning ritual of 100 burpees to get the blood flowing before i go to the gym. Perfect way to start the day
 
I got back from running errands, which included a stop by a hardware store. I had a good looking clerk ring up my order. After leaving the store, I fantasized about him. Putting it hardware store terms: I'd have enjoyed seeing his tool and his nuts.
 
Drinking coffee in my Mum's garden. She noticed the white hairs in my moustache before she went shopping.

My mood and memory have improved since I have worked (and have been mostly sober) and I semi-expect to have a job lined up for me when I return from my lover's apartment in two weeks.

After that I expect to be house sitting in Amsterdam (possibly while commuting to work) and will be very, very naughty then. (but not in the house I'm sitting in).

Then likely Pride in Antwerp again, then more catsitting in Amsterdam.

Were working on an old chair, which I stripped and vanished and that needs new upholstery.
 
Disinclined to do anything today. It is cold and wet so thank goodness I got most of the lawns mown yesterday afternoon.

We are making some pistachio ice cream today and I am finally getting a report assembled that will hopefully now be done and done.
 
And now off for a little read and a nap.

While the house is a pigsty and I have just been zoning out on doomscrolling.

I finally hit the fucking wall today.
 
I should be doing laundry. But rain is in the forecast, so I can't dry outside.

Apparently that rain dance I performed in hopes of putting off laundry due to rain worked. :lol:
