  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Who doesn't know Abercrombie & Fitch here?

I think it's pathetic when people choose to wear clothing which advertise an American corporation which glorifies gullibility.

I never knew what or who Abercrombie & Fitch was until i joined jub.

I don't look up to brand names.

Maybe Hollister is the new A&F? In the CA bay area I see young kids wearing Hollister left and right and that brad has same shitty appeal, bland and boring clothes with the freakin logo and one stupid seagull flying somewhere on the fucking shirt or sweatshirt.

A&F might be shit in general, but their undies are super-soft, super-comfy and my lone pair which I bought in DC in April of '05 went strong for 3 years of once/week wear before they were finally put out to pasture...

Not a bad $14 investment, IMO.

It's hilarious how many people who were losers or nerds in highschool buy into this gimmick that Abercrombie & Fitch has made millions on.

I like their jeans but their entire marketing style screams out "douche bag, poser queen."

The president of the company posted above looks like a mutant who refuses to accept the fact that he's a middle aged man and not a 21 year old. He looks ridiculous. I've also seen the "model" mentallity that some of the employees there have. Some of them really think highly of themselves for being hired there.

It's the same company.

Maybe it is a good business practice to make the workers feel good about themselves, but if some of them think they are all that, they are delusional.

That boss had as much plastic surgery as Michael Jackson.

why do some gay men talk about Abercrombie & Fitch so much?
Is it because of brand name ?

I'd rather talk about technology and why brand is important or not important
depends on needs such as Sony, Panasonic, Canon, cameras ... etc.

Re: Abercrombie & Fitch New Flagship in Paris

This is one of the lamest clothing brands in the world! There's no design or style whatsover, just super bland and boring outfits with "abercrombie & fitched" stitched, embroidered and printed on the fabric a hundred different ways and yet gay boys love it! The reason why they also use topless guys for their marketing is because they know that the clothes themselves have no design to them and not worth showing and they are banking on the gay guys to buy all their shitty sweatshirts but the gay market is only 10% at the most so that's why their sales are dismal. I would think that at some point people are going figure out that this brand offers nothing but overpriced boring clothes with no design season after season. I'm actually surprised that it's still around and not out of business already.

It's an American brand. For. Fuck's. Sake.
What would you expect from a country that considers Oscar de la Renta to have produced haute couture.

As for the publicity stunt, I'd rather have them pantless *pun* and in full rear, but it's ok like that too.

Simply because A&F has built their entire brand around the marketing ploy of using buff young men for their advertising and gay boys respond to that very well. They wear A&F to the gym hoping to make people around them think that they are the models you see in those A&F catalogs. I remember one time in the personals it was common for gay men to describe themselves as the "A&F type" or want someone who is that type. It's all very pathetic!

That's American branding for us all. Victoria's Secret is still to me the most outrageously pathetic example: they don't offer any sort of exceptional quality in material or design; tey just take European grandmas' underwear (because typically American underwear is traditional Mormon underwear, and that simply won't do) and cut away the tissue here and there until there is only left the necessary to cover female nipples and slit. Then they choose female models fitting the standard of hotness of the moment, and make shows and shoot videos with lots of glitter and visual effects, so that you don't care about the clothes anymore.

^^ sounds to me like
a) you're jealous that no one has bought you anything from victoria's secret and are relegated to wearing "mormon" undies
or
b) you're jealous that you don't look like one of the models "fitting the standard of hotness."

Sounds to me like your whole underwear is by Victoria's Secret
My post was about glitzy marketing coating a mediocre (feeling generous) product. It's normal that people (not you, of course  ) totally miss the point and take it merely from the name or the nationality of the brand.
