please actually read my post.
campaign financing was fucked before CU.
Just focusing on campaign financing misses the real problem with Citizens United, which was one of the most distorted things the Court has ever done: a correct decision with a totally WRONG argument behind it. That argument showed up a massive hole in our political system: that any entity other than individuals citizens or legal residents has any voice at all in the entire political spectrum.
Only individual humans have rights, because rights come from being sentient entities. Corporations are not sentient, they are artificial entities created by the legal system. Thus corporations have no rights, and especially no political rights. They, along with all artificial legal entities, have to be ejected completely from the political process.
I'm voting for Mitt. I am a Utah mormon but that isn't the reason. I work for arguably the worst department in the government. If an argument against Mitt is that he pays less tax than his maid, well I don't want someone who doesn't take advantage of everything he can. That's what Americans do. The other argument is that his company is in the business of buying other business and either making them profitable or gets rid of them. Yes people lost jobs. But, we now have a government that is so full of redunduncies that we need someone like Mitt to trim the fat. Oh, I voted for Obama because I was tired of Republicans. I'm not a fan of Obama anymore.
So you like people who use the power of government to get themselves privileges others don't enjoy?
Wow -- somehow I don't think that's a very American attitude: Americans believe that government exists to keep everything fair for everyone, not to grant privileges.
