16 yr. old has sex change

Well, after reading through this I stand by what I said before. The world isn't male vs. female....black vs. white...yes vs. no....left vs. right.

If you're a woman born with a penis, find out how you can enjoy a very unique situation and don't worry about making your body fit society's fucked up idea that it has to match your gender.
Ugggggh. It isn't society at all.

Society would fucking shun a person like her, and essentially does. Society would say to stick with your given body and suck it the fuck up.

This is a personal choice because she what she is on the inside doesnt match what she looks like on the outside. I guess a person can't understand unless put in the situation.

My originally message in this thread was sarcasm. Sorry if you didn't understand that.

My only issue with the entire thing has always been her age. Yes, I think sex changes are weird.. But I don't hate or look at people differently when they have em done.

I live amongst many different sorts of people... I'm around teenagers 24/7. I know how they work. I know how they think. That is why I don't feel this girl's problem was anymore tragic than someone who lives in an abusive family who every day struggles in dealing with the loss of his or her brother the commited suicide....

Changing from man to woman or woman to man is an option most of us all have. Many teenagers cannot escape the Hell they live in.

So I do not hold this chick's problem over all else. In the end she got what she wanted. Good for her. I just felt she was too young... But whatever, just my opinion.

Believe me, if you all knew me and know what I've lived with... What I've seen and felt.. You'd realize I'm not what you all think I am.

I'm not an asshole, I'm not close minded.... In fact, I've fought many people over the years about being close minded. But at the end of the day, I am still human and have every right to find something odd. But thinking something is odd doesn't necessarily mean I think it's bad.

People think I'm odd as hell. But they still love to hang out with me and get close to me.
I dont care if you find it odd. I couldn't fathom ever cutting off my dick and having a doctor build me a pussy. I just didn't think your arguement was sound in that she is a moody teenager who isn't old enough to know what she wants.

But after this post, I do understand your perspective. But still, IMO, she knew what she wanted and what it was going to take. And she took it. Being transgendered, and having these thoughts isnt something that crops up in your teenage years when puberty hits. It's something you feel even at the age of 3 or 4

You get better results if you transition at an early age.

Yes, I understand that. I said she was young.. not a retard. I'm sure she knew what she wanted. But I would not want such a thing done to my 16 year-old kid. At 16 a person has many many things to face in the world. Things can get very mixed up... And you can't deny that she now has all new problems to face because of this surgery.

Other teenagers are not as understanding and forgiving. She has a lot of Hell to endure for the next couple years.

I just feel it would be a lot easier for her to just wait... at the very least, two years. She may think she's ready... But again, she's still a teenager... Stupid decisions do come with the package. And no, that stupid decision is not wanting to be a girl... It's wanting to get it done a bit too early.

Why should it match? No, society would shun a person like her and fuck things up by saying "The person on the outside has to match the person on the inside and if the person on the inside is different, then you had better have surgery to match."

I am hoping transgendered people will see this as a message of hope and support that they can say "I'm the person on the inside and I'm female. My body may happen to be male, but I am a whole person just as I am."

You don't need to amputate your penis to win society's permission to be female. You know you're female as you are. Also, if you feel like you are "a little from column A, a little from column B" then don't fall for the BS that you have to choose one or the other, because that is just society's narrow-minded view of what you have to be.

There is a transsexual named Buck Angel who is really outrageous in a lot of ways I don't agree with. But he's a man who is proud of his vagina. We need more men who are proud of their vaginas, and happy with themselves the way they are. We need more women to take delight in having their very own penis. Women and feminists have been trying for years to help women understand a message of self-acceptance and not killing themselves trying to conform to other people's images of beauty. That message is absolutely important for transsexuals too. You can be the gender you have always been without changing anything about your body. And your body doesn't need to be a certain way for you to be yourself.

No transgendered person feels whole stuck in the wrong body.

And when you can cut off the penis and build a fully functioning vagina, then yes, you should do it. I

They know they are female on the inside, but they dont have the vagina and boobs to match, therefore they want it all to match. It is pure BS to think it is stupid to be the person you want to be inside and out. There is really no way to argue for a transgendered person to stay in the wrong body. And luckily, they don't have too.

And whats with all this society bullshit. Society has nothing to do with this. Society isn't telling these people that on the inside they are women when they have a dick. But science has provided a good way to fix the problem.

Buck Angel represents a good 1% of transexuals and transgendered people.

Sorry, but if I were told that I should just fuck women and not indulge in men because thats the role men are suppose to play, I would say fuck you and move on.

^ Maybe 16 is too early, maybe not. What I don't like is how some people say "jeez I don't get, why someone should change their sex?? Just dress as a girl and get it over with!" without realizing they're having the same close minded reaction that str8 people have when they say "OMG why does he need to stick a penis up his ass?? I don't understand, God made men to be with women".

Please guys, open up a bit and don't judge the kid or any other trans for their decisions without knowing what they have to go through.

Yeah, except that that's not what I said.

I know why u did that comparison but I don't consider the cases to be the same, and simply cuz there's no costly surgery invovled. I'm gay and I have to acept who I am whether I like it or not. If I'm a boy but I feel like a girl and I want to be a girl all I can do is make myself look like one outside and cut my dick off. That's the part I want to understand better. To me 'Sex change' is fictional and merely cosmetic as far as I understand. I'm not against it, I just don't get why someone would rid of their penises.

But that's just them so whatevs makes u happy.

With this kid however it's kinda odd... i mean when you are young you might be very aware of what you want in life but seriously... your dick just doesn't grow back... so he better enjoy being a 'girl' forever.

You can't understand because to you, your penis is valuable, you like it and you like how you look when you see yourself in the mirror. So that's why you wouldn't want a sex change, in this specific case, this girl was trapped in the wrong body and probably hated how she looked from day 1 so she decided to change it.

And I emphazise on "specific" because there's transgender women that don't want to get a sex change, for example I once met this transgender girl who takes homones and has silicon breasts who told me she didn't want to get the sex change because she was (and she said this as a joke) "the female of the new millenium, a Transformer" and did this movement with her arm simulating an erection.

There was even one here in JUB a while ago saying that she didn't even take hormones because she wasn't ready yet, she just dressed as a girl. It's just a matter of personal choice and there's probably a lot of people who can't understand that, but if they talk to a transgender person everything will make sense.

Expand on this. I don't get it.

It's something hard to understand. Inside she's a female (this has been scientifically proven but I don't have any links), her brain functions like a female brain does, she feels how women feel, but outside she's a man. That means she's transgender. Who could be happy in the wrong body? So she has to go through the following legal process if she wants a sex change:

1. Start dressing like the opposite sex and living like the opposite sex 24/7 for 2 years while taking hormones.
Hormones will help her body stop growing hair, her voice will be more feminine, her skin will get softer and she will develop breasts (possibly not that big so that's why a lot of transgender females get implants).

After those 2 years going through all of that while going to psychological therapy at the same time then she's able to have a sex change with recomendations from her doctors saying she's mentally ready to do that.

Kim Petras had been taking hormones since she was 12, she was living like a female since she was 12 so...What's so shocking if she needed a vagina like the rest of women in the world do?

It is a personal choice because some trangenders don't want the sex change and some do.

I recomend you watch this video from a trans female called Calpernia Adams. It's a bit long but it worh it, it's really funny and it's called:"Bad questions to ask a transsexual": [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DjqsB1huDxg&feature=PlayList&p=EDA5242E79BA9150&index=0&playnext=1[/ame]

She sounds angry alright.

Sorry for her, but people will keep asking those questions. Some of them are indeed stupid, but I saw a few that are totally valid. If she feels she has to tell everybody off just cuz she finds the offensive side of everything, then I find her "search for happiness" questionable.

She even said other trannies don't have an issue in telling their true names. Honestly, gay gays usually get stupid questions like that but in my mind telling people off like that doesn't really help solve the problem.

See, if you said only this part, I could probably live with that.

But you also said this:
Who could be happy in the wrong body?

...and this is where I worry about the ethics of the situation. Nobody's body is wrong. Nobody has to make their body conform to how their emotional & mental gender is. No matter what your gender is on the inside, your body already matches it perfectly. That is the message of freedom I'm trying to promote, instead of body image/gender fascism. Feminism gave all of us a message of self acceptance, and self expression, and this does not depend on how your body looks or works.

I know it is hard to understand in such a black & white world, but we really risk messing with people's lives. When we can't even imagine how someone could feel whole and happy how can we give advice and support?

To be honest, that woman annoyed the piss out of me. There are stupid people in the world, with stupid questions... But Jesus Christ.. everyone gets stupid questions directed towards them. Not just transexuals.

Those questions weren't hurtful at all. She needs to address real issues.

She needs to stop being a bitch and get over it.

Um, did you hear the music in the background? Yes, she's being a little harsh in the names she's calling people, but then, she's having some fun here as well. She is a widely known activist for transgender issues. Unfortunately, much of why she became such an activist was because her lover, a military man, was murdered by two of his peers, primarily because of his involvement with her.

The kinds of questions she is highlighting here are insensitive and crude, and they should not be asked of anyone you've just met. If she is giving a seminar or an interview where she is intending to educate others, then fine. But when she is out and about in her every day life and insensitive jerks ask her incredibly personal questions, she has every right to treat them with disdain.

She never said only transexuals were the only ones ever asked stupid questions. You act as though she is all "woe is me--I'm a tranny and I've got it worse than anyone else." On the contrary, she presents herself as a strong woman who can handle herself quite well.

You have this strange chip on your shoulder about this issue--earlier it was basically "they're not the only ones who feel awkward or tormented as teenagers--get over it." Again, no one said they were any more tormented than everyone else, but that seems to be the point you keep returning to. Is that your stance on everything--get over it? Or is that just how you see these individuals?

Her attitude and seeming anger actually annoyed you and pissed you off? I think Calpernia might say, "You're not the only person who has ever been annoyed. Get over it."

Of course, she would probably add "Dumb ass," and there would be background music. ;)
