Re: American Idol

I just watched the episode online and I got to say, that's one of the most talented towns they've ever been to. They showed about 7 people passing in a row and even some of the freaks that didn't make it at least had an ok singing voice. I know the 7 in a row may have just been editing but still, a whole lot of people ended up passing.

I'm in love with that Jason Rich guy, fucking hot, beautiful voice! I LOVE hot guys who can sing. Maybe even hotter than Chris Richardson who I think has been the hottest contestant ever to be on the show. I don't think he'll make it far though because of the forgetting the lyrics thing. Too bad he's not gay and has a girlfriend.

Looks like he is a christian singer...not that there is anything wrong with that! (Seinfeld).

Re: American Idol

Major thank you to dirk and confusedfellow. I think ryan is probly the hottest celeb on the face of the planet. and Surge, I agree with you. that jason Rich guy is really hot but i dont think he's as hot as chris rich.

Re: American Idol

he was hot!!

reminded me of adam levine from maroon 5

Re: American Idol

I'm sorry, but they let a lot of untalented people through. Having people audition a cappella is really a crappy way to gage singing prowress. Some singers who would otherwise be talented singing with accompaniment cannot sing a cappella, and the reverse is also true: a singer may be able to sing fine a cappella but not be able to stay on pitch singing with accompaniment

Re: American Idol

Whether you don't like his voice or not, it still doesn't change the fact that it's good enough to make it to the next round which you said he shouldn't have. The first round they pass people who can sing, the Hollywood round they narrow it down to the best or people who they think will be marketable and the top 24 up are voted by the viewers. I don't think his looks is what got him through to the next round. I thought he was hot, doesn't mean everyone else will.

And yes, I think Simon is 100% straight. So many people here think he's hot and want him to be gay so they say he's probably gay. Also, so many of the angry contestants and viewers call him gay because they hate him. Sure he has a few qualities that people think gay people have (everyone does) but it doesn't change whether he likes pussy or cock. What makes you gay isn't how you act, it's what you find attractive. If you think otherwise then you're following the stereotypes. There are so many gay rumors about every male celebrity out there that I guess everyone is gay. I think most of it is just wishful thinking though so they find something to call the celebrity gay. I wouldn't be suprised if Ryan Seacrest was straight either, he could go either way.

You seem to have a lot more invested in this than I ever would---I said the guy did not have a that special of a voice---and I probably have figured out what makes someone gay or straight by this time in my life, so thanks for pointing that out,---your saying that Simon or Randy let this guy thru on pure talent maybe true or not, don't really care-----

---Do you have a problem when people express opinions different than yours.

Re: My early pick for American Idol

He is good. I liked him. Does your gaydar ping with this guy?

Re: My early pick for American Idol

I agree - I love that kid. Does give off a little of the gay vibe. I can't believe Josiah didn't make it to the top 24. I thought he was awesome too.

Re: My early pick for American Idol

I love David he is definitely one of my favorites, along with Michael Johns.

Re: My early pick for American Idol

I'm still pissed that Josiah Leming didn't make it.....that kid is talented! Go check out his songs on his myspace page....fantastic!

Re: My early pick for American Idol

david and danny are the best of the boys
the girls don't stick out right now
josiah should be brought back as a wildcard or something

Re: My early pick for American Idol

he's awesome...definitely one of my favorites.

Re: My early pick for American Idol

he's totally gay. but in a cute innocent way. not a bitchy little queen. there's another sassy little one that gets on my nerves but he can SING.

my favorites are the cute little asian girl, the pretty plus-sized black girl, and the other black girl who's father died before she auditioned. if i had to pick one i'd pick the asian girl. there's like never been an asian pop star in america it would be cool.

Re: My early pick for American Idol

He has a really nice voice. But, if his breathing is that loud, he needs to turn away from the mic when he takes a breath.

I don't watch AI, but they play commercials for it a lot during Terminator. Who is the person singing Bohemian Rhapsody in the commercial?

Re: My early pick for American Idol

After that stunt with the band, I was surprised Josiah got as far as he did. The judges could see him cracking under pressure again and passed.
I'd have rather seen back-story on a couple of the other lesser known Top 24 than having his drama unfold at such length only to be cut.
Pretty good group for 24, the Nerd should have made it but the best news seems that there isn't a Sanjaya in sight.

David, Michael John, the biker nurse, Carly and the plus size gal all stood out for me.

This is true thank God. And I totally agree with your pics. I'm concerned that the biker nurse might not get too far just because I can't see the teeny boppers who do most of the voting getting behind her.

Re: My early pick for American Idol

Michael John....

29 years old from Australia....good job on Bohemian Rhapsody......|

Video is right under 2 minutes......not an easy song to sing....

Sang it very well, though he doesn't have the high range of Freddy Mercury....nor attempted to try.I don't know if it was the best song for him,but he does have as really good voice and should get easily into the Top 12.

Was impressed with Josiah....until the little breakdown.Talk about a sensitive artist!I know his life hasn't been easy and he does have lots of talent, but that last performance after dismissing the band was really pitiful.I think he'll be back next year much wiser though...he's different and if nobody signsd him up by then, should get an opportunity. But he needs to mature a lot.

Re: My early pick for American Idol

David Archuleta has quite a history. Tried out for star search as a kid and won "junior singer grand prize winner of Star Search 2":

http://www.cbs.com/primetime/star_search2/junior_bio.php?jf=david_archuleta

And he is mormon?

David Archuleta
Latter-day Saint. Born 28 December 1990 in Miami, Floria. Lives in Murray, Utah. Birth name: David James Archuleta. At the age of 13 he won $100,000 when he came in first place in the national TV talent competition "Star Search" on CBS (2003-2004 season). Official website: http://davidarchuleta.net/. Bio from official website:
"Where did you get that voice"? From Jenny Jones to Naomi Judd, Ben Stein, Boyz II Men, Leann Rimes, Hillary Duff and Ahmet Zappa, it seems everyone who hears David wonders the same thing - How can a young kid living in Utah learn to sing like that?? He has been called "The Soul man from Utah," the "Soul Midget King," "Mini Motown Monster" and a singing prodigy, and this is just the beginning.
From Wayne Newton in the 50s and 60s, Michael Jackson and Donny Osmond in the 70s, Tevin Campbell in the 90s and Billy Gillman in 2000, only a handful of young male entertainers have been able to achieve National recognition. Now to add to this elite list of pre-teen young male singers is David Archuleta, whose natural "soulful" voice has captivated America through his performances on Jenny Jones and most recently as the junior singer grand prize winner of Star Search 2.

David Archuleta was born in Miami, Florida on December 28th 1990 and spent the first six years of his life in various cities in Florida. In February of 1997, David and his family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where he lives with his parents, his brother and 3 sisters and 2 cats. He comes from a musical family where his mother sings both Spanish and English pop music, and his dad is a jazz trumpet player. David began singing at the age of 6 when he memorized several songs from the Les Miserables 10th anniversary concert, complete with English and Cockney accents. He also enjoyed singing songs from the movie Evita and songs he learned while at the amusement park Lagoon in Utah like Natalie Cole's "Pink Cadillac". Although David enjoyed singing, he still didn't feel comfortable singing in front of people. He just couldn't believe people would really want to hear his voice.

When he was 10 he participated in the Utah Talent Competition and although VERY reluctant to go perform in public, and feeling extremely nervous, he went onstage and sang "I Will Always Love You" and received a standing ovation, winning the kid division and realizing that people really did like to hear his voice. Several months passed and a new show started on TV, American Idol. David loved to watch and rewatch the performances and learned dozens of songs from the show including the song, "And I am Telling You, I'm Not Going" which has become one of his favorite songs to perform.

Towards the end of the American Idol first season, a friend of the family called about a show Jenny Jones was doing to feature talented kids across America and thought David should audition for the show. A show producer called and listened to an a capella recording of David singing "And I Am Telling You", and was so impressed, she asked him to rush a video and CD to them. A few days later, David and his dad were on a plane to Chicago to be on the show. While there he met AJ Gil from American Idol and formed a friendship with him, and a week later while in LA, met with AJ who then introduced David to the rest of the American Idol finalists including Kelly, Justin, Tamyra, Christina, Nikki, RJ, Jim, Ryan, and Ejay, and asked him to perform for them. They were absolutely amazed with his singing, and within a few days David was being introduced to many TV and Record label producers and executives.

The last several months have included performing 3 times on Star Search, being seen on CBS' The Early Show and has been the beginning of an exciting journey for David and his family. He is now in negotiations to record some new material and will be releasing a new CD soon.
