Jordin's gonna slaughter Blake next week when it comes to vocals and I know that doesn't really matter when it comes down to fanbases etc. But that alone should garner her the win.

Not trying to make this about race, but lets be realistic.

Oh please, don't make it about race. Blake is more young and hip then Melinda. She is too old fashioned and the majority of the AI audience is young so of course they will go for more younger and hipper people to win. If you didn't notice, Jordin is Black and she will most likely win, and the top 4 consisted of 3 black females. So please, don't make this about race, and I think you yourself should be idolizing someone other than Al Sharpton too. What a joke!

Oh please people race has nothing to do with this. EVERY season of idol there are upset votes. Blakes fan base is different than Melinda's. Melinda's fans are adults who will listen and say she's the best and just sit there Blake appeals to tween girls who'll sit up for hours dialing numbers over and over and over again. It's that simple. Enough with the race crap. Always the race crap. Just because you can only see the world as black and white doesn't mean the same applies to everyone else.

Thats why Fantasia won in Season 3, because America didn't know how to vote correctly for R&B! Come on! Thats a joke! Last Year Kat Mcphee came in second place and her music is pretty R&B, and the guy in third place, Eliott Yamin is a lot R&B also. The popular music of this country right now is hip hop and R&B. You are just not making sense, and if you didn't vote for Melinda, then you shouldn't be joining in conversations about the show and complaining about. But who knows, maybe you did? That goes for anyone, if you don't like the results of the show and you didn't vote than you should really stop complaining.

Melinda was one of the best singers American Idol has ever had.

The final is not going to be near as good without her.

I agree with one minor correction. Melinda IS the best singer AI has ever had!! And they've had some good ones but in my opinion she tops them all in the vocal category. Can't believe this shit that she got voted off. Sucks.

Obviously Blake is Caucasian. However, here in the land of the free, people are classified differently then in the rest of the world, ie, Europe, South America, Asia, Africa, etc. In the USA, no matter how white one may be, if a person has some blood, no matter how small, other than white, than that person is not considered white. lol. Ridiculous? Yes but thats the way the old laws were written up and how the "Powers that be" still classify people. Blake looks allot like his dad, but take a good look at his mom. she looks Mestizo (Native American and/or Asian and Caucasian).

Welp, Jordin just won American Idol. Tonight results were just ridiculous, it should have been Blake. Not that Blake isn't good, but he was the weakest one up there and he would have benefited more by going home tonight in my opinion. I'm not one to cry foul, but I wouldn't be surprised if the producers stepped in tonight and decided on the results for the whole marketability factor. Melinda was by far the biggest talent, but unfortunately the least marketable.

And don't bring race into this, it is ridiculous. Lakisha, Melinda, and Jordin all made it to the top 4 spots.

I AGREE!!! I was very upset that Melinda went home. I would have liked to have seen Melinda vs. Jordin. If Blake wins Idol I will ban the show forever because that is 2 years in a row that america has gotten it wrong. First Taylor Hicks and now this! Whats up AMERICA??? Melinda is my girl and I thought that for sure Melinda would have won this year. But what can we do now???

I guess I'm not really surprised with the results. Everyone assumed Melinda would make it all the way and maybe they just didn't bother voting.

I wasn't really impressed with Maroon 5's performance...Adam Levine is nice to look at, but tonight he didn't have any personality. Blake's performance last night was better than even Adam (IMO).

Anyone else getting tired of Ryan Seacrest? I can get past the constant commercial breaks, but Seacrest has gotten so pissy with Simon and his personality is pretty obnoxious...I kind of wish they'd find a new host.

The First season definetly was the best to me. It was new, fresh and entertaining. I caught bits and pieces of this season but nothing like the first and second. I watched them regularly. Blake will probably end up being the American Idol. Melinda appears to have a good head on her soldiers and she will do just fine in the future.

No question, Melinda is the best vocalist -- a rare and pure talent -- and likely the best performer to ever grace the stage of AI (and she did GRACE the stage). But all things considered, I really believe not winning the show will work to her advantage. She is far too good to be categorized as a pop star. Both Blake and Jordin are talented enough to have won any other season, and both are clearly marketable as pop stars -- and I think they are good people. Melinda will have an incredible career in many music genres. And I believe the potential longevity of that career will eclipse all of this years' contestants combined. She is the total package with intelligence and a heart, to boot!
