Harley-Davidson is one of those things like hot dogs and apple pie - it is perceived as quintessentially American, and all the good that comes with it - by the "core" "Real Men" bad boy bikers. Harley has fought hard to come back from a complacent trip almost over the edge.

The Hell's Angels wouldn't be caught dead on a Honda or Suzuki, and probably not even a BMW.

It's a passion - maybe even a sickness. But, then again, there are "Ford Truck" guys vs. "Chevy Truck" guys, and a much smaller contingent of "Dodge Ram" guys.

I respect what Apple has accomplished, and I recognize the flaws that have existed in Windows. If I were more adventurous, and more in tune with tech today, I'd likely opt for Unix - we've used it on our business side for main system processing for years.

But, I've seen the passion, the lust in people bitten by the Big Mac (with apologies to Ray Kroc). I opted not to argue with them a long time ago. I quietly let them glow, then use my windows.

And, I've already admitted to being a tech pseudo-dinosaur. I have a bit more than a lot, but I'm not into using my phone for all those neat services. The phone I recently got from Verizon was the only full keyboard option they offered w/out a web data plan. I have unlimited texting on our family plan (5 phones) because my kids use it, and the price difference to put it on all of the phones instead of selectively is about offset by us being able to receive without per text charges.

All of which is a ripoff, since text takes a helluva lot less bandwidth than voice.

Your reasoning is faulty again.

This is all assuming that politics or use policies is the first thing I should be considering when deciding what tech products to purchase. Maybe it is for you, it needn't be for others. If that fact was a given, you would be right, but it isn't.

Just because I may disagree on some policy that Apple has does not mean my logic for liking one of their products is flawed. My decision on whether or not I like the product is based on far more than that. Primarily, as I've tried to explain, on the device's practical usefulness to me.

I find these Apple is bad arguments fascinating, but you went way beyond my expectations on this one

To conflate from that that someone "probably that kind of person who also buys products produced by child labor" is a nasty projection not based on what was said that is both insulting to hotatlboi, but also trivializes a real problem like child labor by equating it with a dumb OS policy.

Just wow man. It's clear your delusions about Apple as a company (and apparently myself) run much deeper than I initially suspected.

The simple fact of the matter is that the only reason why we know that some factories in their supply chain were using child labor is because they conducted an extensive audit of their entire supply chain and then published the results openly.

Further, after discovering said problems, they took steps to correct the situation.

That is more than many western companies do. There are plenty that are just fine with paying the much cheaper component costs with no questions asked.

Again, you act like you consider Apple and anyone who buys from them to be pure evil.

It's simply not a rational position.

I hate my iPhone, because as of June 21, 2010, I STILL can't send or accept an invite to a meeting. Even though iPhone receives the invitation, shows the little .ics icon, it just stupidly sits there doing nothing with it. Even though as soon as I get home to my Mac, I can just double-click it and mobile me will pop it into my iPhone automatically, several hours after it would have been convenient to do that directly on the iPhone. And, as you may have noted, even though I'm paying for MobileMe. I'd throw the damn thing out the window right now if I could, however as I'm in Canada, I still have over a year to go on my THREE years of indentured servitude. iOS 4 is a big pile of fail, as far as I'm concerned. Yes, this is what a disillusioned Mac user looks like.

Well, it'll do it if you run exchange, which you don't. I agree though, they need to add some basic features like that.

I disagree about iOS4, however. Its better where it needed to be, even though it still has some room for improvement.

I went by the Apple store and saw the huge lines - both reserved and walk up. We were told the walk up line would be at least 3 hours.

Ah well. I want the white version anyway.
