Araucaria Appreciation Thread

Hi Johnnie I hope your laptop is back in biz

I hope you have a pleasant New Week Buddy

Good Saturday afternoon, Frankie and everybody! (*8*)

Well, I got my laptop back. Fortunately they didn't charge me anything this time, because they had to replace the battery chargers and internal works, a lot of the same crap they had to do back in October, though this time they gave me a new display screen. I just got off the phone with apple support, having them telling me how to get my backup from the iCloud, including my passwords for all my accounts, including Just Us Boys. Yeah, they recognize me again.

While the laptop was in the shop, I had been going on Just Us Boys on my iPhone, but unable to sign in. Then suddenly it "recognized" me, and signed me in under my account. I still don't know how that happened. And then my iPhone inexplicably switched to private mode, which meant it blocked my Just Us Boys passcode, so I couldn't sign in again.

But I can do all that again, and go on Just Us Boys on my account. Hooray! :wheee:

:wheee: Hooray indeed!

My Skype account stopped working a couple of weeks ago. When I tried to open it, I got the message "you need to be connected to the internet"
But I was and all other connected devises worked properly. Yesterday my friend in Germany called me on Skype and it opened, we had an hour conversation, and it has returned to normal.

Hi, John. There has been exciting pro football, but tonight the Holy Men go for the championship.

The temperature has been cool here. 60s and some 70s. Right now, it's 42F.

Good Tuesday morning, Gary and Paul! (*8*)

Gary, I'm sorry about your Holy Men. I was thinking that they might do it, but alas, it wasn't to be. :therethere:

It sounds like you're getting some cool weather out there, but not too cold, for the most part. Right now in Florida, we're getting a lot of cool, cloudy, and rainy weather, going on for days at a time, a bit unusual here. It was very warm here on Sunday, getting up to 86, but yesterday it was rainy, and the temp stayed around 60 all day. We had a lot of that weather last week, and we're supposed to have more of it this week. They're supposed to have snow and ice in North Florida, but none of that is getting down here.

Well, yesterday I made mulligatawny soup from a cookbook recipe. It had curry and spices, and apple, celery, carrots, onion, and canned tomatoes, put through a blender, and having chicken cubes added. It called for adding rice, but I substituted leftover spaghetti instead. It was a lot of work, but it turned out well.

I could have it... without the curry. Too strong for me :(
Yesterday I made a full casserole of macaroni that I'll be eating for 3-4 days

 Hi, John

Woke up to 35F this morning. Cold.gif

The Santa Ana winds are still driving the wildfires.

Hi John!
It looks like you've missed the worst of the winter storms. I can't believe 8" of snow in New Orleans!

I had a good time at Flyers Pride Tuesday night.
20250121_212601.jpg
Yes, it went to overtime. Flyers won, 2-1.

Next Tuesday I'm flying to Toronto. The Maple Leafs play Minnesota Wednesday. I haven't seen a game in Scotiabank Center, though I have been in the lobby...it's connected to Union Station, Toronto's main train station. I have seen the Leafs at home, but at old Maple Leaf Gardens, which I liked. I've been told it's now a supermarket. I will check that out, as it is near Toronto's gayborhood.

Good Thursday morning Thad, Gary, and Paul! (*8*)

Thad, I'm glad you had a great time with the Flyers Pride the other night. And you're going to Toronto? Should be enjoyable. They should be having Panther Pride down here next month. Usually one of the guys in Prime Timers will organize a trip down there, but I haven't heard anything this year.

Gary, so it's a little chilly out there. I actually saw a weather map showing rain for Southern California on Saturday. Hopefully the Santa Ana conditions will be over soon.

Paul, the curry in the mulligatawny soup wasn't too hot, it just made it warm. The soup was good, but it has a heavy feel when you eat it, so it's not something that you want to gobble up and go for seconds.

Well, the crappy weather continues. It has been drizzly and cold this week, with the temps in the 50s all day with rain yesterday. It reminds me of why I hated the winters when I lived Gainesville in North Florida. Fairly typical for them, but rare down here. We're supposed to have one more rainy day before it clears out and gets even colder, with lows in the 40s the next couple of nights, before it finally warms up into the 70s Sunday and next week.

Hi Johnnie thanks for writing
It's summer in the Southern hemisphere , nonetheless , we've got crappy cold and rainy weather here in the highlands (where I habit )

I hope you have a pleasant weekend buddy

Wow, John, there is enough there ^ for both of us. Do you want the left or right ball. We can share the butt.

Good Saturday morning Gary, RM, and Frankie! (*8*)

RM, that boy is anxious to have his ass plowed! *|*:sex:

Yes Gary, he has a nice set of low-hanging balls, but I think he really wants his hole violated. I'm sure he will be very happy getting two cocks up his ass. :sex:

Frankie, I'm sorry you have to deal with that rainy and cold weather. I guess it doesn't change much, since you're close to the equator.

Well, the weather here has switched back to the more typical warm and dry days. This past week, we had been having warm days and chilly nights, but now it's gone back to being warm even at night. I saw a weather prognostication map for February, and it showed Florida being warm for the month. Of course with those long-range predictions, you'd probably do just as well with flipping a coin.

Earlier this week I actually went out to see Wicked with a couple of the younger, newer members of MCC. I have to admit that it was refreshing to be with people who weren't part of the old farts' club for once. We went for pizza afterwards, and one of the guys chatted up the waitresses, asking questions to see if they were family (not everyone is gay, you know). And the other guy, who was always quiet, turned out to be quite the slut when he started talking. I think I can see why his boyfriend broke up with him.

It seems like I'm having all sorts of repairs and expenses coming up. I just had to write a huge check for my auto insurance. And I had to have a plumber come and replace two faucets in the kitchen and the bathroom, which cost a lot of money.

And it doesn't help that I caught a nasty cold the last couple of days. I figure that it will go away in a couple of days, but I'll have to deal with it in the meantime. I did get quite a scare the other night. I woke up the other night gasping for air. It seems that a plug of phlegm formed in my throat, and blocked my breathing passages. I struggled for air for a moment, and then drank a glass of water, which cleared it out. I was OK, but it was scary for a minute or so.

Good evening, John. I see your days are pretty full.

I'm sorry about your scare the other night. I know for myself it can be scary being sick and alone at home :(

Hello Johnnie

I hope youre feeling better it's always good to have a water bottle or a thermos jar with a mug next to your bed
Take care Have a pleasant Sunday

Hello from Cleveland.

Saturday night I enjoyed a performance by the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. They are crowd-pleasers and the audience ate it up. It was at the State Theater, one of five beautiful restored 1920's theaters in Cleveland's Playhouse Square.

Friday night I saw the AHL Cleveland Monsters lose to the Providence Bruins, 4-2. The AHL is hockey's premiere development league with 32 teams, each paired with an NHL team. Cleveland is with Columbus.

I'll be here until Tuesday.

Here's hoping your devices give you no further problems! Hey, that water heater is still good, right?

Good morning, John.

Forget that fat rodent in Gobber Kobb. When I exited my borrow this morning, I saw my shadow,

Which is good news, The seven more weeks of winter means he heat of summer will be coming little later. 😊😣

Good Sunday afternoon Gary, Thad, Frankie, and Paul! (*8*)

Well, it finally happened, five years into the pandemic, and I caught Covid, or the Chinese Bat Fever, as Gary calls it. I developed a nasty cough, and this morning one of the guys I went to the movies with last week texted me, saying they had both gotten sick, and they both tested positive for Covid. So I bought a test kit, and it came back with two lines, which meant I have Covid, or I'm pregnant, but it's been a very long time since I've had a man in that way.

So I went to a walk-in clinic, told them my story and described my symptoms and the positive test. They didn't seem to be too terribly concerned, saying it's just a matter of symptom management at this point, and gave me a couple of prescriptions. I should probably get better in the next few days, but it means that my schedule is shot to hell for this week. ](*,)
