Good Sunday evening Gary, Frankie, and Thad!
Thad, I hope you enjoyed Pride Night with the Washington Capitals the other night. I suspect that you're already on your way to enjoying some other event or activity by now.
Frankie, I hope you're doing better with your throat and ear issues. Sometimes the weather in the places we live isn't always conducive for our best health.
Gary, I haven't heard the college football playoff rankings yet, but I think your Holy Men should be in. As for basketball, it's too fast-paced and intense for me.
It's a shame that radio stations are shutting down all over the country. In small town and rural areas they especially provide a service for the community. Even in the Palm Beach County area, which was quite a bit smaller when I was growing up than it is now, there were a good number of smaller AM stations. My cousin was a DJ at the local Top 40 station in the 60s and 70s, and my ex worked the boards at a small news/talk station when we were together in the 80s and 90s. His dream was to be a TV news anchor, which didn't work out for him. These days the radio stations are shutting down, or they've been bought up by giant corporations that program crap and run a million car commercials and infomercials. The days of turning on your radio and enjoying listening to what they play is long over.
I finally put up my Christmas tree last night. It's an artificial tree, which I realize that I bought with my ex from Woolworth's 40 years ago, the first year we were together. We broke up a long time ago, Woolworth's is gone, and the mall where the store is located is gone. I enjoyed putting it up, though I still feel a bit tired and rundown from a cold that I caught last week. I think I'm finally pretty much over it, and it was pretty mild compared to colds and flus that have wiped me out in the past.
Well, today they had Hawaiian Day at the local MCC, basically doing a lot of stuff to bring some excitement to the church. So I dressed up in the only clothes I had that could be considered remotely Hawaiian-- a shirt with a blue floral print, and I wore a pair of colorful board shorts over my regular long pants, and my jacket. Hey, the sanctuary is cold, so I couldn't dress like it was a day at the beach.

It does seem that attendance is going up, we're getting young straight couples coming in for some reason. I haven't been able to talk with them too much, but I'm guessing that they're refugees from other judgmental churches. Which is a good thing, since membership had dwindled to a small group of elderly lesbian and gay people who were burned out and out of fresh ideas.
