Christina's "Back to Basics"

I really hope that she sells more than that this week! I would love for her to sell at least 500K! I don't know if that's a stretch though...

It is, few artists these days can pull off a 500k + first week

True, but didn't Mary J. sell like 700K on her first week and Britney w/ "In The Zone" at 600K??

I really don't care though because the only thing that matters is that it debuts at #1 on Billboard, which she will. I just can't wait to see the numerous Grammy nods she's gonna get with this album!!! Hopefully, she'll win at least Best Pop Female and Best Pop Album!!

Mary didnt, I dont think. But yea Britney did. Her and Eminem have been the only ones who have been able to keep steady high first week sales over the years. But it will be ineteresting to see how Spears performs with her next album after being gone so long and all the public scrutiny and backlash on her.

Edit, your right Mary did sell 730k of The Breakthrough in its first week.

Yeah, but I found out that though Mary sold 730K its first week, up to date, the album has only sold about 2.5 million, which is average. So first week sales don't really mean anything...

What do you guys think about Christina's chances at the Grammys?

She has a great chance now that Beyonce's new album and music is being trashed by critics.

and yes the song F.U.S.S. is about Scott Scorth...I guess they had a falling out after her last album..and he moved on to work with Paris!!

I didn't know F.U.S.S. is about Scott Scorth? I wonder if F.U.S.S. stands for F*** U Scott Scorth..? If so, LOL!!!!

Yes I remember that coz it was the holiday season; this time of the year it's very difficult for an artist to reach that mark BUT I have great faith in this album and in Christina. Even after the backlash following the "Dirrty" video she still managed to prevail as an artist. RCA certainly has great plans for this album after having seen what has happened to their other big-seller Kelly Clarkson. Back To BAsics has got legs and Christina fan base around the world is huge! I am so glad that she took her time for this album and not rushed it like Beyonce who took only two weeks for her "Bidet" album. That woman has gone mad!!!! What was she thinking????? Has her ego gotten over her head?

She said that "Check Up on It" was a joke and she wasn't serious at all when writing the song and she was really surprised that it turned out to be a #1 hit...I guess she thinks that she can slack off and still make hits....

Anyways, it's safe to say that "Back to Basics" is the #1 album this week. All Christina needs to worry about is planning her tour and getting Grammy's nods...

Right now she doesn't really have any competititon for the Grammys except for Nelly Furtado and Shakira. Beyonce is getting trashed by critics.

Yeah Christina is head and shoulders above any other female artist this year the close second being Nelly Furtado and perhaps Evanescence when their new album comes out in October (although they're a band and not a female artist but oh well)

"Bidet" is a European toilet fixture. Some BBC critic played on title of "B'Day" by saying that it was more like a "Bidet". His point was that the album was sh*t.

I listened to clips of each song, nad I'm pleasantly surprised. I've always liked "Ain't No Other Man", but I didn't think I would like the rest of the CD. Btu there are some amazing songs on there. I have a lot more respect for Christina, because she actually is a true artist.

Just purchased the album this morning and I like it. (I also like how glossy the booklet is and how each photograph represents the song it's next to.) My only complaint, I would have condensed the album to just one disc instead of two. She obviously put in a lot of hard work into this album and deserves all the success, awards, and acclaim that Back to Basics will receive. Especially at this year's Grammy's.

My favorites:
"Back In The Day"
"Understand"
"Slow Down, Baby"
"Here to Stay"
"Candyman"
"Nasty Naughty Boy"
"Save Me From Myself"
"The Right Man"

Gemini... we have the same favorites off her CD ... the only diff. is that I like another track as well "Mercy On Me"! I know it's a lil preachy but the vocals are like WHOA!
