Gay Marriage Updates By State

The hate group NOM knows they are going to lose, so they are doing everything they can to slow things down to maximize the amount of money they can get out their contributors while they can.

Prop 8 Proponents Vow to Appeal Ruling Denying Motion to Dismiss Over Judge's Sexuality

http://www.towleroad.com/2011/06/a-word-on-todays-prop-8-decision.html

It shouldn't take a judge on the Ninth (I think that's where an appeal would go) more than an hour to review Ware's decision and decline to hear an appeal.

Of course NOM will wait until the very last day possible to file an appeal.

The conservative case for gay marriage: GOP is not the party of intolerance

It's a sound argument. But ReligioPublicans won't hear it.

no...they only ruled on the request by Nasty NOM to cancel the original court cases decision based on the judge's sexual orientation. Nasty NOM is now saying that they want to appeal the decision that was made yesterday to not cancel it based on his sexual orientation.

The main current case (not original case) is the appeal of the original judges ruling that prop 8 is unconstitutional. No decision has been made on this.

These are 2 separate issues.

Obviously, Nasty NOM is doing whatever they can to drag this out as long as possible.

ahh, ok, i get it now. there's two seperate issues going on, and the one that was just resolved (well, until they appeal it) isn't the primary one.

Won't happen..and if it does..it better not be with the absurd demands some of the Republicians want.
Otherwise we will simply be passing another law that allows discrimination.

Yep, they're going to fuck us over in New York

I was never optimistic to begin with.

Seen it too many times. Whenever Republicans are in control, shit goes nowhere.

If it dies, hopefully the Dems can pick up a few more seats in the next election. They only need a few more to get the Senate back.

I agree this isn't going anywhere. Damn. I was so excited the past few days too.

The Republicans screwed us over once again.

Yep, they're going to fuck us over in New York

Now I feel bad for Roy McDonald, who put his neck out and got fucked over by the rest of the conference.

They obviously have zero interest in resolving this or this would be happening already. State Senator Jim Rosapepe had similar concerns here in Maryland, and it did not take nearly this long for the language of the bill to be altered to his liking and a vote to happen.

The Republicans are just using the old "run out the clock" strategy, and they'll blame it on the Dems when it doesn't get done. "Well the Democrats couldn't reach an agreement with us on religious exceptions."

Sickening.

The Democrats cannot be blamed for this. If it indeed stalls it will be 100% because of the Republicans. The Republican majority leader will have failed to bring it to a vote (after he said he would previously) becuase no additional Republicans came forward despite the fact that several sources within the Republican caucus said it would pass with 35 or so votes. It will look terrible for them in 2012, since they already are at a huge risk of losing seats due to population shifts, and an inability to gerrymander districts as much since a Democratic governor has to approve the district map.

Sources say Cuomo is willing to write in greater religious exemptions, so there's still hope (and the legislature can still meet after Monday if it comes to it).

^^^The blame will be baseless and hollow to everyone though. Everyone in New York is sick of this, and many who even oppose gay marriage want them to just end it and move on.

Where are the details?

Seriously, are they listing everything, like churches don't have to perform weddings, pastors/priests don't have to perform weddings, they can refuse to have gay Sunday School teachers, deacons are subject to DA/DT, the rainbow can still be associated with Noah's Ark, parochial schools don't have to hire gay teachers, they don't have to say David and Jonathan were gay, they're still allowed to misinterpret the Sodom and Gomorrah story....?
