Attention Malaysia Airlines 777 missing between Kuala Lumpur and Beijing; 239 on board

Vietnam is expanding the search to include mountain and forest area.

HANOI Massive search for the missing Malaysian plane will be expanded to scour mountainous and forest areas, Vietnam News Agency (VNA) quoted Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, Lt Gen Vo Van Tuan as saying.

“We have informed units and localities on land, including Military Zones 5, 7 and 9, and localities in the western, southeastern and central regions to deploy forces to seek the plane,” Tuan said on Tuesday while instructing the operation.

Thanks for all of the updates, guys. I've been hesitant to post anything new because it seems everything is a huge clusterfuck right now. I am just keeping the families involved in my thoughts. This must be a terrible ordeal to go through. I hope they find something concrete regarding the wreckage soon.

So...the Iranians aren't real people now? Someone just texted me saying "their legs are the same in the photos -- it's a bad Photoshop". I don't tend to affiliate myself with the conspiracy nut-job crowd either, so...I'm curious to know what photos they're talking about...no response/image sent to me yet.

He said the plane should be made of "the same stuff"
Any same stuff won't work so i just give one "stuff" that is water.

How can a plane fly hundreds of miles off course and not have a conversation with Air Traffic Control?

Okay, so this is what was linked to me...

I personally think it's nonsense.

No bodies, no wreckage, no crash, so no news is kinda good news, considering it flew so far without cockpit chit chat being monitored etc.... Time to wonder about where they landed....?

If you imagine this plane has never existed and the people in there just disappeared.
Sort of a good news i guess.

The ocean is huge.

As much as I'd like to hope that the plane was only diverted, hijacked, or whatever, the odds are very low.

It isn't so strange that it is taking a while to find it, considering it was off course and radio attempts had failed.

If I'm wrong, I'll be deliriously happy, but I fear the vessel is gone with all souls on board.

one of the things i thought of when the potential for terrorism was brought up with the stolen passports was that if the plane is still missing it could have been hijacked with the intent of landing it somewhere to use as a weapon later but then again from watching all the news coverage i had a nightmare that they all died, which is probably the most likely outcome.:(

Murdoch's evil empire started screeching terrorist attack about an hour after the random bit of door was found, that turned out not to be door at all. I always wonder why they don't just build planes out the same stuff as they build the black box. Those things survive pretty much anything.

Australian media are now backing away from the "terrorists are blowing up planes" hysteria and saying that people fleeing Iran often go through Malaysia to China and the move on from their to wherever they're trying to seek asylum.

Airplanes are generally made out of strong but light materials. Aluminum is a popular material. Carbon fiber and other composite materials are popular too. Early airplanes were made largely of wood. Modern high performance planes tend to have titanium and other exotic materials. Always, the emphasis is on being strong and light, with handling fatigue well being important as well but less important.

Black box made of three layers. A harder steel or titanium covering, with insulation underneath to protect against high impact crashes. Underneath that is fireproofing, a special material that allows the box to withstand hours at high temperatures.
so black box materials are to heavy to build airline with

In this modern age,
the plane should install at least 3 transmitters so the receivers can find them where they are.
Is this technology possible ?
