^ Maybe Grindr didn't crash ..but there was gay presence at downtown Las Vegas's rally.
And, dammit, missed opportunity...people would have bought T-shirts and flags!

^ I think that the libs probably had no problem with their cruising and pick-ups.

Unlike the closeted Republicans.

Another No Kings Rally this weekend.

They estimate that there will be nearly 3,000 protests across America.

I was at the October rally in downtown Las Vegas. But I'm home in Southeastern Pennsylvania now and have a variety of rallies to choose from.
The big one in Philadelphia? Probably too crowded for me.
A little one in Havertown? Probably too small for me.
The one at our county seat in Media? Maybe.
The one in leftie-liberal Swarthmore, near the rainbow crosswalks? Perhaps.
The one in Ardmore? I could check out the newly remodeled train station too. This is my "probably."

You’re sounding a bit like Goldilocks there, not wanting to go to the rally that’s too big or too small, but the one that’s just right.

I would want to go to the ones that have tumbrels at this point if I lived in the US.

Never went to any of the previous ones, & don't plan on going to any of the upcoming ones.

Though that said....Just by chance, I drove past a small one a month ago. At first when I saw people on the street-corners waving signs, I was like what are they hawking now (figuring it was for some dumb sale in one of the nearby shoppingcenters, then getting closer I saw the "no kings" text on one.)
And this Sat there's a meetup for a hobby-related group I might go to... I think one of the no kings protest at one of the intersections along the road I'd be taking.
So might end up driving past one. I won't be stopping/joining. But i might honk or wave in support as people commonly do.

:D

I hear his list and think it is just an embarrassment of riches. Have to admit, I have used similar logic myself in the last rally, and chose to go to the small town 20 miles west of Huntsville, and enjoyed it because it wasn't such a logistical pain.

My inkling for Saturday is the same. The one here in town will be downtown at a park where access is poor.

That, and Thad is known for his love of travel, so lucky him, combining two goals into one run.

I'm also worried that the rallies are not violent enough. They really push peaceful protest as a mantra, and it's not the best way to send the signal that we are at crisis point. If starting war is not motivation for violently opposing your government's corruption, what is? The nation is just too complacent, hence Trump's reign.

There need to be some buildings burnt down at this point.

I just think the logo is too tame, too lame, and too archaic. It also stops short of damning the entire gang of criminals running the cabinet departments.

The military is also being given a pass. They're conducting illegal wars, murdering folks on boats in the Carribbean, and eagerly ramping up the military-industrial complex to swell with bloat to suppor this madness.

We are well past the time when just showing up as the folks who didn't vote for Trump is meaningful.

The GOP caucus is still supporting the war, and Trump's agenda. It isn't reading the protests as some sign they are in peril. Essentially, the rallies are as effective as standing in a field and screaming.

We should be acting up, interrupting government and industry.

"Kumbaya" and "Someone's crying, Lord" are just not cutting it.

The No Kings promotional materials are calling out the Republicans for their October, 2025 appearances on right wing news shows. In advance of the Oct, 2025 No Kings Rally, the Republicans were out and about predicting death and destruction in the streets. The Republicans were sent out to paint an apocalyptic vision of [black] people burning down America with violent protests. Of course, no such thing happened but the same right wing media channels didn't bother to correct the record.

This time around, the Republicans have been told to not bring up the March, 2026 rally. They want right wing media to ignore the protests and pretend like they aren't happening.

No Kings' promotional media is predicting record crowds of peaceful protesters and they are saying that Republicans are burying their head in the sand, pretending that Trump is not unpopular, the war is not unpopular, ICE is not unpopular, and pretending that the Republicans aren't going to get their assess handed to them in November.

Going to one of these is like seeing the Grand Canyon. You have to do it to understand the experience. It's a good feeling knowing that you are one of the people making the noise and waving the signs.

I added a video to my previous posts about Republican messaging on No Kings in October, 2025... included in the video is at least one civil service employee who was in violation of the Hatch Act.

In March, 2026... crickets. I guess they are too busy coming up with new "awards" and trophies for Dear Leader.

I hear you and I hear how angry you are. Violence is not the answer unless we are willing to completely ditch the current form of government, as in the American Revolution. It will only be used against us.

Kumbaya was effective in that it brought large groups of people together, made the news, and kept everything peaceful. And it was a reminder of what we were fighting for... a group meditation and centering of sorts.

Yes, I'm aware of the right alternately claiming the protests are anarchy and also dismissing them.

But, my point remains that the events are not evidence of anything that is not already widely known: only Trump's core MAGA is behind him. The rallies are more or less group gropes, where we gather and reassure ourselves that the entirety of the nation has not gone made, only about 40% of it.

No Republican ex-pats really support it, as they can't stand the left.

My fear is that it is an effete act. not particularly mobilizing the complacent who haven't been voting, not partcularly rousing to the lazy youth who don't think government is anything citizens have to work to have, and not particularly providing actionaable strategies for what will happen if the election is pre-empted or stolen.

And most importantly, the left is not putting forward a strong leader, a unifying voice that will utilmately lead the ticket in 2028. This bullshit committee of ten candidates by both the Republicans and the Democrats gave us this mess. Ten people on a stage is not a contest. It's a proof that there IS no leader.

A strong leader (even if a lame one) requires a focal response. There needs to be a platform created NOW that is the core message: raise the minimum wage, reform the limits on presidential power, catch up with the first world on alternative power, leave Israel to her own quagmire, prosecute those in the current administration who have participated in the violation of the emoluments clause, pass an immigration reform act to stop the impediments for working Americans from becoming citizens, end tax-exempt status for churches, end sales taxes on groceries, remove the president's authority over the Justice Department and the FBI.

Unless we can agree on core platform values now, we're not going to get a candidate who will be able to form a mandate in the two years leading up to 2028.

I visited with my uncle in Arkansas last week. He is 81, a retired college professor from the arts, is against Trump and MAGA, and is probably an atheist. He is married, and has three grown children. His main concern as we talked about the corruption is that the Democrats are not doing anything other than talking about Trump and his cronies. They are not presenting policies like Bernie Sanders is. The weakness of the left is as big a story as the power of MAGA.

Is that really fair? We are given four minutes to edit our posts. If you're using your superpowers, then it certainly tends to make the forum your playground.
