Re: What is the thing with circumcision in The US ?!
-as for fgm of course parents are going to try and carry on tradition. Thats what humans do, for the most part. That's why advocating just cutting/nicking the hood is preferred to what's usually done. The perfect is the enemy of the good. Take what you advocate and try for more, but I wouldn't bother pretending circumcision feels anything physically like fgm. Or has the same mental health consequences. I'm not saying it can't and isn't detrimental to some people, or that it should've been done. Far from it. However, I'm more than a bit sick of you comparing such disparate things. The only thing they have in common is that it's the genital area and no one asked the kid.
Tell you what, you go lose your dick and then get back to us.

That's because you're considered normal.
And that wasn't my conclusion. Adults can describe themselves however they wish, as can children. What you can't do is claim mutilation for all.

btw, i only disagree with your conclusion here: something done without regard for someone's autonomy is something they can later demand be defined as mutilation.
A distinction between verb and noun that I don't find very meaningful.
