Hopes everything is okay,Abs!(*8*)Enjoy the game tomorrow, hoping for a Cards victory to help cheer you up!:D..|

Btw,about the Yankees.....Boston fans are LOVING it after the mighty Mariano Rivera gave up a two run homer to Jason Bay to tie the game 4-4 in the ninth and Jose(Not so Mighty)Marte gives up the gamewinner on home run crushed by Kevin Youkilis.Talk about heated, passionate rivalries....doesn't get better or more intense than New York-Boston(Though Chicago-St. Louis is awfully close);)

Yeah, we boo because we want to see him hit. But as you stated, he is Albert freaking Pujols, and it's like watching god bat.

Oh baby I know you wanna se him hit, it's the same reason we don't wanna see him. :p
Cory,I was thinking of you yesterday during the Mets/Nats game when the Nats walked Beltran,
So I guess Carlos is our Albert. ;)
Then just as it did in the Cards game it came back to bite the Nats on the ass when the next batter walked and forced in a run. Revenge is sweet.

Sonny, the sweeping broom pic Abs posted was kind of a little" in your face!";)
And yes,Abs....it WILL be different when we face the Birdnals at CitiField!

Nah, Cory and I have a lot of respect for each others teams, as long as he knows I can take it and he can take it right back we will be cool. ;)
But I so agree that when our teams meet up at Citi, the Mets are gonna clobber em and they will have to fly back to St Louis with their wings clipped.

I know,just playin' with ya!;)

btw, great line"they will have to fly back to St. Louis with their wings clipped:lol:"I love baseball rivalries!:D

Cory's beloved Birdnals topped the Cubs again today and I'm glad he was able to attend the game and enjoy them taking down the Cubs:D....hope he's feeling better from last night.(*8*)I'm sure seeing the Cards beating up on the Cubbies in person made things MUCH better.

Speaking of rivalries, another epic battle in Boston ending with a 16-11 Boston thrashing of the Yankees who now have lost the first two games of that series. You would think with Beckett and Burnett pitching the game would be a lot tighter but these kinds of legendary rivalries always seem like they take a life of their own!

He also witnessed Albert Pujols surpassing 1,000 RBIs for his career, that makes him the
second-fastest player in history to do that. :=D::=D:
As if that were not enough Albert hit his second grand slam of the season.

Cory for sure went to bed last night with sugar plums dancin in his head

:dead:

I am so tired after a long long long day yesterday - I don't think I went to bed until 3 or 4 am!

But holyshitohmygod did I just witness Albert, on the first pitch, hit a grand slam versus the dreadful Cubs and get 1000, 1001, and 1002 RBI's in his illustrious career?

You bet your sweet ass I did! :D

It was absolutely unbelievable. My throat still hurts a smidge from yelling, screaming, and shouting so loud. I was going apeshit, along with the rest of the stadium. Quite possibly one of the most fun games I've been to at the new Busch (although, watching Albert hit three home runs last year on Easter was the best resurrection present ever...)

I'll be back later to hopefully post "WE FUCKING SWEPT THE CUBS FOR THE FIRST TIME AT HOME IN...."

Wait. I actually don't know that. It's been forEVER since we have! god willing! ;)

Or something to that effect!I knew that!I'm so!oops!I didn't acknowledge Albert's 1,000 RBI milestone! He will break the RBI record long as he stays healthy.

Well,2 out of 3 ain't bad.....Cards won the first series however and Abs got to see Albert Pujols making baseball and Cardinals history.Glad to see you got to see such an incredible game and have such a great time with the crowd.:DNothing exactly going on like that at CitiField right now.Sniff....sniff!

Nationals 8, Mets 1 ; Final

J. Zimmermann (2-0)
Another inexplicable blowout. We can make some of the most nondescript starters look like the second coming of Cy Young.Ollie is what he is,David Wright has to find himself again fast....and if Omar Minaya doesn't lose his job if the Mets don't make the playoffs,I will be one pissed off Sausy. And you DON'T wanna see that! Then again,I don't think the world is ready for a sonny eruption in that case!

I NEVER thought I would EVER say it....but I'm so jazzed about the Yankees getting swept by Boston!I feel weird saying it,but I just totally LOATHE the Yankees these days.Respect the players and the tradition, but ever since they've opened up this obscene taxpayer financed monument to the ego of the Steinbrenner family, casually raising prices beyond all reason and shutting out thousands of average fans from ever seeing their beloved Yankees play...this one and a half billion dollar tribute to excess, arrogance and vanity has often appeared to be remote and distant, with little of the warmth and passion of even the late, even remodeled(between 1973-75)old Yankee Stadium.(Though apparently you do because of structural anomalies at times get even more home runs to right field than ever)!

When the Yanks won four out of six,and appeared in five,World Series from 1996 to 2001...it wasn't because they had the most expensive roster of ill fitting All Stars but the best chemistry as a team in the game. They knew how to win, what it took...Yankee professionalism and pride at its best and now nearly gone. They tried again to buy a winner and failed miserably,as they always have under the Steinbrenners when they have played this game.Steinbrenner did give us the great free agent signings like Catfish Hunter and Reggie Jackson that have been tremendous for the club, but only as a compliment to assembling a team with a great foundation.

Created with the corporate client in mind, with prices averaging ten times higher than even the increased seats at the Met's new CitiField(though I can live without the corporate sponsored name)everything is pricey, and more distant and coldly businesslike...even the famed bleacher bums with their legendary roll call tradition, while having some of the far rarer affordable seating are located more distantly in the outfield than previously.Takes away some of the heart and passion from your club.

I don't want this to get around to Bradlee, mind you...LOL!But there's a lot more heart and genuineness from Fenway and the passionate crowd there.Boston management even, when knowing the could not build community support for a new Fenway Park found a way to keep its heart while undergoing a considerable remodeling and upgrading of facilities and amenities. The Mets will always be #1 in my heart, but so long as the Yankees remain the team of corporate America I reluctantly have to say I cannot root for them any more as my other hometown area ball club. And if archenemy Boston brings 'em down,so much the better!

Since the GM will probably never be fired and I know they will start panicking soon, the Dbacks upper management needs to realize that Bob Melvin is not the reason for their poor start. Hitting coach Rick Schu has had 2+ years to work with these guys and he has gotten 0 results. Fire Schu, NOT Melvin and then we might get some results.

Nationals 8, Mets 1 ; Final

J. Zimmermann (2-0)

The Nats have struck Gold with that kid, I was so impressed with him. I hated to see him own so many Mets but ya gotta respect his stuff.

Another pitcher the Nats have their radar on is Steven Strasburg from San Diego State. This kid is incredible, an absolutely stud with a 100+ MPH fastball. The Nats look on their way to the No. 1 overall pick in the 2009 draft and have their eyes on Strasburg. but after what happened with Aaron Crow, I dono if they will have a shot at Stasburg. Boras is his agent too. and will be asking a ton for him.

I think this belongs in this thread:

Gay Community Night at the Phillies is Tuesday, August 4, 2009. The game starts at 7:05 pm.

It's always a great night and last year the Phillies even won! This year they'll play the Colorado Rockies.

The details are on...brace yourselves...the Phillies' website! http://philadelphia.phillies.mlb.com/phi/ticketing/group/gcn.jsp

Hope to see you there!

And I just found out:
Night OUT at the Nationals in Washington is scheduled for July 20, 1009.

Wonder when/if New York will get involved with this?As big a Mets fan I am,when the Phillies(and later this summer the Nationals) do something good and positive, especially for the gay community I have to send them props!..|Thanks,Thad!

Baseball fan here too, a bit early in the season but will post more often in this thread.

It's never too early to post thoughts, updates, ideas about the upcoming season Red Storm! ..|

Continue to post whatever you like on the subject of MLB baseball '09 here!

:D

(btw, the Cards lost in the bottom of the 8th tonight - were winning 1-0 until then - and then the damned Braves got a 2 out, bases loaded single. The bastards!)

Although I believe the Cards still have the best record in baseball, even after tonight!

Ya know, KG...

I was actually thinking about this thread after the 5th run in the top of the 9th.

I honestly feel bad, and know the pain of a bad bullpen. But holy shit. I would rip my hair out!

But I'll take a win and a Cubs blowout loss in the top of the 10th as a good day. Always. ;)

(!)

Ten games over .500?

I want the Cardinals inside me. Is that bad? !oops!

(sorry again about your Nats, G....)

^ And the way Pineiro and Lohse have been pitching lately...

I'd like a sweep to make my/the weekend even sweeter! :p

I don't even give a shit about this game right now...

just pleeeease be OK Rick!

And I see those PHILLIES beat those Cardinals :D
