  • Hi Guest - Did you know?

Attention What are you having for dinner?

For about 8.00 bucks a pound you get two of them.
There are many things you CAN get, but why would you want to? Stuffed cabbages might be one example.

Evil laughter in the background.

Kidding aside, I remember a different time when I did regularly get various prepared foods at the store, although I never got (nor saw) stuffed cabbage. Not cheap...but it was convenient.

Dinner was another clearance Purple Carrot frozen dinner. I struggled a bit about whether to get it after I saw the nutrition label, which had more fat than I want. But it was good price on clearance.

I also had the usual salad. I nearly got romaine lettuce, which was cheaper, but ended up with green leaf, which fits my limited refrigerator space better.

Actually had stuffed cabbage that was from ShopRite kitchen prepared food. For about 8.00 bucks a pound you get two of them.

Sauce was a bit sweet and filling had a White Castle steamed onion flavor. But all in all not bad.
We have a food cart operation that turns up at the farmers' markets and they do a very delicious takeaway cabbage roll and perogis for a pretty good price.

Very homemade.

Getting the sauce right is one of the keys. We do our own tomato sauce with some tomato paste and try to hit that perfect note of sweet hints and tomatoey richness. I always have sour cream on mine so that factors into it as well.

I don’t like an overly tomato sauce on stuffed cabbage. It’s has to be a lot lighter. Tomato paste is too tomatoey. I prefer my mom’s, she uses tomato juice. The Hungarian restaurant I use to go to all the time served it the same way as my mom. It seems like American style is more tomato sauce.

^-^^

Believe it or not. A lot of Polish people use Campbell's tomato soup mixed with some regular tomato sauce and a little brown sugar.

Purple Carrot Sweet and Sour Cauliflower.

Part of the "sweet and sour" label matches my personality. The sour part, of course.

Dinner was burgers, that is what my sister wanted. Got a good deal Buy one get one free on packages that were less than the highest price.
The cost per pound came out to 3.49

Salvadorean guacamole. Which consists of avocado, boiled egg, salt, pepper, a little lime and a green onion. I accompanied that with a bean and cheese pupusa and a protein banana smoothie. Gotta keep my muscles big.

We had this whole Chicken Tandoor thing in planning and then we went to a concert last night...totally lost our puff today and napped and so we are having a very comforting and beloved
spaghetti with bacon and peas for Sunday night supper and will gird our loins to grill tomorrow night.

Chimichanga Del Mar, refried beans, rice and Mexican street corn

My diet lately is who cares.

I did two smash burgers on the grill outside with onions and extra cheese on toasted sesame rolls.

Followed by a pint of Ben & Jerry's Churray for Churro's ice cream.
