Why does life always takes away the things we like the most?

To chadhanes and rodvill

I'm in the same predicament right now...

Earlier today I went to the GP and after a brief examination he's referred me to the urologist

In the meantime he's given me some cream to apply twice a day which I'm just about to start doing, although I'm dreading all of this...

...I'm very upset that I'm going to have to say goodbye to my old friend and that a stranger is going to appear in its place :(

How this will affect masturbation is another unknown for me as well

Depressing times :(

I can't give an opinion about steroids, but I guess your doctor must have a good reason to prescribe them to you before doing surgery. Mine didn't even consider it. That probably has to do with the fact that I apparently have the phymotic ring at another (much lower) level.
I also feel as I'm losing my biggest ally... since I love the sensitivity of my glans and the fact that the prepuce covers it from being overstimulated with random things (such as clothes friction when walking). I also ignore what will happen with masturbation when there is nothing going up and down the knob. Sad confusing times definately.

Thank you for the explanation KaraBulut!
My situation is very similar to the picture you posted, except for the fact that the prepuce can just be retracted when my penis is soft (but it looks just like that) and it doesn't go down all the way (just uncovers 1/4 of the glans) when I'm hard. So I'm not worried about ischemia or pain, my concern right now is that I can't fully expose my glans when having sex or wanting to wash it.

That's what I suspected. And you're in the category that typically ends up getting a circumcision.

Just talk with your surgeon about how much foreskin they will need to trim. Take a Sharpie marker with you to the appointment and ask him to mark it so that you'll have an idea.

The forums here have had all sorts of "mine is better" discussions about circumcized versus uncircumcized. I've had discussions with guys who have had circs in their teens on up into their forties. They all say it is different after the surgery. But none of them regretted having it done- whether it was done electively or non-electively.

And all of them said sex felt good before their circumcision and it felt good after their circumcision.

That last pic with the stitches looks somehow scary! Right like out of a bad movie or so .. hope it healed well :)

One thing came to my mind when reading this .. you said the tight ring suddenly developed last year.
I vaguely recall something with changes in the skin of diabetes patients could cause something like this ... ?

I've taken 8 pics, 4 while limp and 4 while erect

I haven't uploaded them to the computer yet, or resized them, which may take a little time...

rodvill, is it OK to post them here on your thread? (I realise I'm hijacking it a bit)

or I could put them on my own thread?

I don't mind either way...

Chickenguy: I'd suggest putting them here since this will make a good reference thread for guys who have this question in the future. We do have quite a few questions about phimosis and circumcision in this forum.

I'm sorry about the complete lack of focus in these pics... the camera is fairly new and unused, and I just don't know how to use the manual focus

Thank you for your contribution ChickenGuy! I'm sure it'll help a lot of people to get an image of what phymosis looks like. Please, remember to tell us how the treatment with hidrocortisone went.

Again, apologies for the lack of any sharpness when close-up - nothing I could do

You might be able to make some progress with the hydrocortisone since it looks like your foramen tightness is toward the end of the foreskin.

Are you able to look at your frenulum? It looks like there may also be some tightness in the frenulum that is preventing retraction, also.

Hey ChickenGuy. Thanks for posting the pictures, I think you're right in saying that my before and your present situations look pretty similar, except your opening looks wider. Try the hydrocortisone for sure, no loss with that approach! Don't rush into any drastic surgery until all else fails. I'll be posting some pictures of myself 3 years later tonight so I won't keep you up in suspense over those stitches - my bad.

If you can't remember the names of all those foreskin parts does that mean they gonna take it away?

Here they are - a couple years later :-)
These are of me soft, which was challenging since it's been a few days since I've had a chance to *|*
In the 5th image, I was trying to show the cut-line, or scar. The oval shape is a scar from the main vein that runs up the shaft.

As you can tell by these shots, my frenulum was pretty much totally removed :(

Ok, so these are the last pics, I swear. ;) 2nd last shot shows the extent of scarring. I don't know if the vitamin e or bio oil I applied helped at all, but i don't usually notice the scar unless I look for it.
Thanks guys! I got a little excited in the last one :D

Actually, this is one of the better surgical outcomes that I've seen from an adult circ. It helps that you have the type of fair skin that doesn't scar or form keloids. But the surgeon should get a lot of credit for taking time to make for a better aesthetic outcome instead of just cutting back to the edge of the glans like many do.

I can see why he trimmed your frenulum though. There's a bit of "bunching" of the skin on the top side that would have been a problem on the underside if he left too much of the frenulum. It would have caused you more problems if it were retained.

I agree .. that surgeon knows his craft! If you would not have told us I probably wouldn't have recognized this as cut on first glance. Thanks again for sharing this, I think this can help a lot of guys facing the same decision as rodvill is now :)
And if you are ever close by, drop by

A "frenulum" is an anatomical term for a flap of skin between two parts of the body.

That thing on the underside of your tongue that's attached to the bottom of your mouth- that's a frenulum.

The flap of skin between your foreskin and glans is also a frenulum.

A couple of quick points....

My appointment date with the urologist has come in the post and it's a whole 11 weeks away in the middle of January of next year.... somewhat of a wait

On the hydrocortizone, it's a week now and I've not noticed even the slightest difference in things - am I putting too little of it on, or putting it on too small of an area?
