Hey rodvill. Great to hear everything went well. it looks pretty good too. little bit of swelling but that will be gone in no time. Hope your not having too much pain and that the morning wood isn't much of a problem for you. After my last surgery I had a foley cath. One night I woke with this horrific pain. I had a nocturnal erection and the tube was pulling. OMG. it was worse than the surgery pain I was having. lol. hope that gave you a smile.

hope everything goes well and I look forward to your updates. Glad it's all over and you can move on.

Steven.

i can understand how you feel about taking something from your body that you have always had. i had testicular cancer and they removed my right testicle in 2007 since then i have avoided all contact with guys sexually.

Don't be afraid to be intimate with someone because you only have 1 testicle. There are many guys that only have 1. In fact I've been with one myself. Anyone that would make fun of you or not want to be with you because you only have 1 wouldn't be worth your time. I understand some people can be shallow asses but I think your being scared for no reason. I know they make implants that look and feel like the real thing. Have you looked into getting one?

I really feel badly for you. Dont isolate yourself and be afraid to be sexually active. It's not a big deal and most guys will tell you exactly that.

There was a thread a while back where we discussed whether most guys noticed when a guy had only a single testicle. You would be surprised- many guys who had lost a testicle said that very few guys noticed.

Going through testicular cancer, the treatments and losing a testicle are rough but a young guy like you is missing out on a lot now that you're doing better...

Rodvill - -

Did your doctor and surgeon explain to you about retaining the pre-op sensitivity of the glans?

Over time, a glans exposed to continual rubbing against clothing can desensitize. The skin can also dry out and become "calloused." This is the main complaint of men who have been cut and it's avoidable...

Daily use of Vitamin E oil (just a few drops) spread over the glans and circ scar will keep the skin soft and help retain the sensitivity.

Great advise paatreides, I'll keep that in mind.
So guys I went to my follow up appointment today and everything seems to be going great!
I still have around 5-7 stitches that have to come off... after that I'll post pictures of how everything turned out.
Love ya for the support.

rodvill - Good to hear everything is healing nicely!

I know I came into this late (or just as the deed was done). But throughout the thread, noone picked up on this:

... At this point, boys should be taught to begin sliding their foreskins back and forth. It's also the time when boys should be evaluated for phimosis and treatment begun. It just confounds me that we have so many guys in their late teens and early twenties who are becoming sexually active and who discover that they have phimosis that requires surgical intervention.

....Urologists aren't the problem. It's usually pediatricians, although this is getting much better...

It shouldn't confound you KaraBulut; it should come as no surprise to anyone that we have such problems in the US. I'd argue the point that pediatricians are the problem... The blame should be laid exactly where it belongs: Directly at the feet of parents. They are the ones who cannot bring themsleves to openly discuss or teach their sons about their developing genitals. It's a damn shame.:grrr:

See that's what really puzzles me- it's not the US that is the problem. In Australia, the middle east and the US, there's still a large majority of guys who are circumcised before puberty. So, phimosis isn't an issue. And outside of urology specialties, most practitioners in US aren't really educated on phimosis, paraphimosis and frenulum breve because it is not something we see very often.

It's shocking to me that this gets missed so often in countries where most guys are uncircumcized. Genital exams in children are part of standard developmental assessments. So, you would think that this would be caught earlier and treated before problems occur later on.

I agree that parents have a role in this but there's a lack of education that's a barrier. It wasn't until I did pediatrics in grad school that I learned that the foreskin doesn't detach from the glans in males until much later- usually age 8 to 16. Parents don't know what to look for either and I just don't know where they would learn this information- health classes in the US have been cut from middle school and high school curriculums and unless it's covered in a Lamaze type class, parents just don't what is normal.

My parents knew that for sure. And I doubt from school, more likely they just did what any parent should do - educate yourself about the development of your child.

But yeah, I am also quite confused about threads like that and people in their mid-twenties or later just realizing that they need a circumcision. I only know two people who had to get one, but both of them got it before they were 12.

Not that any of those things were covered in health class when I was in school. Hell, we were lucky they taught basics of fertilization.

Guys aren't taught to clean themselves properly either; some don't even know enough (or are too lazy? yuk!!) to pull the foreskin back when they take a leak. It still falls to the parents (primarily Dad, I would suppose - except there are an awful lot of single mothers out there) to teach their sons proper hygeine if nothing else. Wouldn't a grown man know a problem exists if he sees that his kid's foreskin won't retract???

Yet, girls are educated about their developing bodies, aren't they? Why is that; why can parents discuss things with daughters, but not sons??

I don't know... It's a very sore subject for me; I guess because my father never taught me a thing. Jeez, he never even uttered words like "penis" or "testicles," let alone teach me about erections, wet dreams, intercourse, or jacking off (for that one he got out the razor strap and beat my brother and me to angry, bruising, blistering welts. Seriously.).

I've learned an awful lot about my equipment only because I've had so many urologic problems over the years, from hypogonadism (discovered at age 23 by a military doctor) to the ED caused by a rare form of muscular dystrophy (discovered 3 years ago). Otherwise, I'd probably still be ignorant of it all. And, at the risk of opening up a political firestorm, education about sex only gets worse the more countries lean toward "protecting the children." If parents and educators only knew how much suffering could be avoided by some honest, open communication and education by qualified teachers in the schools the world's society would be all the better for it. 'Cept, I think I'm preaching to the choir here!;)

Are the stitches out yet?:-)

After the cut, you can still wank off with all the sensitivity of uncut. I was cut when I was little, it is better than uncut

Two years later, but a promise is A PROMISE. An after picture ;)

I am writing to you, almost one and a half years after I underwent circumcision for two main reasons, first is that the whole healing process was gradual and slow and second is that someone who recently read this thread, DM me asking how it all went.

So, as you may or may not know, I am a graduated physician now (initiating my speciality in 15 days  ), and i plan to tell you about my personal experience.

First of all I never tried the steroid cream, for something that we, in spanish call "corticoestropeo" or "corticodaño" which mainly means that some changes and hazards MAY happen to your skin and mucosa secondary to steroid abuse. It can result on skin thinning. I just don't like to mess with steroids.

I felt like doing a list of pros and cons... I hope it helps people thinking about circumcision decide;

CONS:
1. On my particular case, they had to apply haemostasis to some vessels, and in the big ones my doctor chose to suture de vessel, so I actually feel the knot of the suture below the skin. Not big at all, as a matter of fact, noone but me feels it. And since, it was an absorbable material, the knot gets smaller and smaller every time.
2. 2 sutures got screwed up by the surgery apprentice I will talk to you about them in the pros column.
3. Sensitivity went down like a bitch, this is something you should KNOW. It when from let's say 100% to around 75%, and it has slowly been coming back. In some ways its positive since I lovee the sensation of the going-commando feeling when wearing boxer shorts whenever I feel like wearing them (it's very very comfortable). In some other ways it's negative, I reach orgasm (hell yeah) but it takes my partner a little longer to make me reach it. Specifically talking about blowjobs :fellate: ; before I used to cum almost right away when the guy's tongue touched my prepuce since it's sooo sensitive, now, it requires some effort. But whenever I masturbate I don't have ANY problem feeling pleasure and I enjoy it more (I would say). So in sum, it is a bit confusing, but things definately change. (but don't ever question you will stop reaching orgasms, you will be reaching them one way or the other, that's for sure).
4. The healing process. Be conscient of something my friend, the urologist didn't tell me, you won't able to masturbate for at least 2 weeks. REALLY! IT'S A BITCH! Imaging laying in bed or walking around home all day. Imagine; 2 weeks of relative rest and a LOT OF FREE TIME makes you horn-up like a moth fckr and to someone as fond of jerking off like me, it can be a torture. But really, I didn't have any pain at all in the healing process, with the lidocaine cream that my urologist gave me, everything went fantastic. The only thing is that when I changed the gauzes for the first time I really freaked out by how horrible my dick looked haha (like FrankenCock) hahaha (pictures on previous post). But it surely heals. Just don't freak out, everything will be alright.

PROS:
1. Probably the biggest pro for me is that I am now able to wear boxer shorts without feeling uncomfortable (getting sudden erections because of the fabric stimulating the very sensible prepuce or irritation from the same fabric stimulating the very same prepuce).
2. Masturbation changes completely, before i used to feel pleasure by the prepuce rubbing the glans with every up and down movement, now i focus much more on the shaft, the frenulum (which my doctor wisely decide to keep), the glans and the fricition.
3. Very VERY easy to clean, even if you ever forget to clean down there, I assure you it will rarely smell bad (not the same from when i was uncut). So if the unexpected opportunity of someone giving you a blowjob appears (being always safe), you don't have to worry about odors anymore.
4. Unfortunately since I got the surgery for free (the doctor was a friend of mine and made my insurance pay for 100% of the surgery) I turned myself into a guinea pig for one of his surgery residents who screwed up on a pair of sutures, so whenever choosing a surgeon, be sure that he is GOOD AT IT. Don't ever be afraid to ask him what kind of circumcision he is going to perform and to give you a rough explanation (or drawing) of what you should expect (there are many many outcomes).
5. It looks beautiful and bigger (apart from those two little scars on the back of my penis), even though I live in a country in which the vast majority of guys is not circumcised, I have received a few compliments.
6. I shoot farther (just something I noticed and I can't guarantee the same will happen to you, but this is my case).
7. the main reason is that I don't have the phimosis anymore.

for me, circumcision is best when it's done right after birth, that's a way of practically assuring the scar will be practically invisible.
But in summary I would tell you not to worry about pleasure or whatnot... worry about solving your health issue first.
If I would do it again, hell yeah, you just have to be CERTAIN your surgeon is GOOD at doing circumcisions. My dick is much much cleaner and masturbation has become AT LEAST 2 times more enjoyable *|* and sex is not bad at all, just taking a little bit longer for my current partner (who may or may not have the fault) to make me reach orgasm particularly when giving me a blowjob.

Hope my advices help you make a decision. And please fill me in with news on your decisions and if you went through it, how did it all turned out.

So thank you guys for helping me go through all this, I love the community for being so supportive. I owe you a big one! (*8*)

Rodvill, it looks really good. I think you made the right choice.*|*

Thank you for returning this thread and giving an update.

And a special thank you for the follow-up picture. Your surgeon did a really good job- that's a very even smooth incision line and it looks like he left you enough skin so that it's not overly tight.

You probably are aware of this since you've been through med school but so that others are aware- all surgical incisions will have temporary loss of sensation and numbness.

The surgical process that cuts through the skin cuts through the nerve endings on the top of the skin. The result is a temporary numb feeling along the surgical line. This would be the same whether you have surgery on your knee, your belly or anywhere on your body.

The important thing is that the loss of sensation is temporary. It takes about 6 months to 2 years for the nerve endings to regenerate and for full sensation to return.

Circumcision removes a band of skin. The loss of those endings is another matter. Since those nerves are removed along with the skin, which results in a permanent change in sensation. The changes that you describe where you feel more pleasure on the shaft and less pleasure from the rubbing of the foreskin against the head of the penis is very typical of what most guys who are circumcized as adults say.

So, as you may or may not know, I am a graduated physician now (initiating my speciality in 15 days  ), and i plan to tell you about my personal experience.

Congrats on graduating.

I am glad you found a solution to phimosis, whether choosing circumcision or some other effective method.

Thank you sheep and karaBulut whithout whom I would probably have never couraged-up to go through this procedure. Big hugs! (*8*)
