If you can't understand that it is not gay to be more "feminine"
and that it is not straight to be more "masculine"
because you, the one who identifies as SA, are in fact gay and masculine (i.e. outside the stereotype)
and that using SA perpetuates that false stereotype that actually works against you and the other more masculine gays
but also to the straight guys who are less "masculine"
because languages reflects and influences our perceptions
then you just won't
about the poll,
i don't hate people who use it, because i think many use it without realizing what they're saying, but I find it confusing that some people defend it so much, as if it were essential to them somehow, and of those I guess i "disaprove"
Honestly I think to poll is built in such a way that you can't just feel against the term - but have to either feel against the people who use it or just "don't resent it", which is kind of limiting
It is disheartening to see nearly 20% of votes agreeing that somehow masculinity is tied into pretending to be straight, or pretending to like vagina in front of others for their approval. We should all be voting on how we disprove of such an internalized-homophobic statement.
Aren't options 1 and 3 the same?
Perhaps the poll should have a selection that reads "I am identified by others as straight acting" lol....... shall we replace one or three?
Getting rid of stereotypes by asserting stereotypes; I love it. Because all straight acting guys consider themselves masculine ^^. What a silly proposition.

What amuses me the most about this term is that if your picture and mannerisms can't convey that you are whatever SA means, the term won't help either.
