Why does life always takes away the things we like the most?

Spencer, I find your advice very helpful. I CAN tell my parents that I have trouble urinating... I just need to sound convincing when I tell them since it is not true.

Well, you could tell them that the doctor recommended it for health and cleanliness reasons which is the truth, if you have a fibrotic band.

Engineer 1, Doctor 0 ;) just kidding, I admire you docs, wanted to be one actually.

I don't like it when uncut guys don't retract before they urinate. I don't slobber urine all over the head of penis and then shove it back in my underwear when I pee. So to me, you do have a problem urinating :)

i have the same problem! but im getting circumsized this friday

If you don't mind, come back afterward and tell us what the experience was like.

hey yeah im gettin cut on saturday. and im sorta worrying about it. i know that it is only a minor surgery but even still. and i am not looking forward to the next month either.....lol.

I'm curious about rodvill......he hasn't posted since September 20th....... :(

I was circumcised at an older age as well and its not that bad. It depends on the cut really. The way I was cut I can still use the skin to jack off. The scar isn't all the way down my shaft. So no lube or anything. Foreskin felt better but theres no huge difference. Glans is a little dryer but i lotion it.

Hey you guys! I'm back...

I'm curious about rodvill......he hasn't posted since September 20th....... :(

I'm sorry I have not been able to post anything for so long... it is just that since it is my last semester @ university, I've had a lot of those extra exams I am supposed to take before I go off to internship. So it's the first time I logon to JUB since then...
I've missed you though :(

Crackycreme: thanks for the advice, you don't have to worry about the language problem, you can perfectly PM me in Spanish, it is my first language as well. It seems you lived through exactly what I think I will... so I want to know everything!! ..|
Tell me how are you enjoying your prepuce-free life so far? any pain when you walk and you underwear applies friction to the head of the penis?

Love you guys for keeping this thread alive while I was not here!! I thank you all very much! (*8*)

Hey,
So I had the same condition (phimosis), although I don't ever remember being able to retract my foreskin. The opening was probably just about 1cm wide, so I had no problems urinating or anything. I found out about the condition when I first watched porn and really realized that, no, majority of people did not look like I did. I waited until I was 18 and approached my family doctor who referred me to the city's "best" urologist.
I should mention that at this point I had already asked my doctor about trying steroid cream to stretch the skin a bit - this didn't work for me, I think that I also had a tight 'ring' at the opening.
When I had the first appointment with the urologist I was prepared for the worst. I had read forums online where people had mostly said: all urologists are PRO circumcision despite the situation. So I did lots of research into the options for phimosis - there is so much literature out there these days on conservative and non-surgical methods of healing. I went in to the first meeting with the urologist with print outs of 2 or 3 articles (medical journals) that discussed creams, dorsal slits, and partial circumcision.
He took one look and said "textbook case of phimosis. Only one option, circumcision", he told me about 80 year old men who came in to his office only to report an infection in their later lives due to their phimosis. So I whipped out the article on partial circumcision. He told me that the dorsal slit would look too messy, and that the partial circumcision, where only a small amount of the prepuce is removed, would be possible but could cause phimosis to reoccur. I didn't really believe that, but knew it was probably my only option besides full circumcision. He assured me that he would leave my frenulum intact, and that he would respect my decision to go with a partial.
So the surgery was successful. I was fully sedated for the procedure and hardly experienced any pain afterwards. I did discover, however, that he removed the full extent of my frenulum. He left most of my foreskin intact though. I still have 2 or 3 very tiny 'stitch' tubes left from the dissolving stitches that didn't dissolve quick enough.
3 years later I can say that my sex life is much better now that i can fully retract my foreskin. I love having one - having been with several partners over the years, both cur and uncut, I can say that, in my opinion, uncut makes it much easier to jerk off! Personally, I love the sensation of the skin moving up and down the shaft *|*
I do always wonder the "what if I would have waited" - would it have magically retracted on its own 6 months later? Who knows! It seams like a grey area of study that people just can't answer.
I wish you all the best in your decision and in the procedure if you choose to go through with one - Whatever you do, make sure you know your research and what you want. You have to stay true to that.
If you need any help with anything let me know. I also have photos I could share (before/afters)

chadhanes: thank you so much for sharing your story, I deeply appreciate it!
So I guess you had a partial circumcision... I hadn't considered that yet.
I do have some questions for you... how does it look when flacid? does your prepuce still cover part of your glans? does it hurt when you walk when pants apply friction to the glans?
I guess it wouldn't hurt if you'd show us some before/after pics... I know people here won't mind, if not you can send them via PM to me. Whichever you prefer ..|

To chadhanes and rodvill

I'm in the same predicament right now...

Earlier today I went to the GP and after a brief examination he's referred me to the urologist

In the meantime he's given me some cream to apply twice a day which I'm just about to start doing, although I'm dreading all of this

The GP has suggested that if the cream doesn't work then it may have to be circumsision

Just like chadhanes my opening is about 1cm wide and I've never had any pain of trouble with anything - and I also found out by watching porn and realising everyone elses aren't the same

I'm very upset that I'm going to have to say goodbye to my old friend and that a stranger is going to appear in its place :(

How this will affect masturbation is another unknown for me as well

Depressing times :(

It's true that in the past urologists were very aggressive on doing full circs on phimosis, particularly in the US. The US medical schools pediatric programs generally taught that circumcision was "healthier" well into the 1970s.

But that has changed. Most doctor won't recommend a circumcision unless it's medically necessary. The challenge with phimosis is the fibrous stenotic band that is often so extensive that in order to remove it a full circ is required. And while dorsal slit (preputioplasty) is an option, you should look at pictures of patients who have had a dorsal slit before you decide. The aesthetic result of a dorsal slit is not like a circumcised penis.

Even though this forum is not in the "Show Yourself" area, we do allow self-pics when they are relevant to a discussion. So, if you are okay with posting them, there's no objection from the mod team.

Hi again,
I'd love to post some photos for you all. This is an issue I am very passionate about. It kills me every time I see a post where someone is suffering from phimosis and gets a circumcision... I feel like I should have said something.
The partial circumcision is... well... the next best thing to being uncut :p
I have had absolutely no problems with the ring coming back, and can't see why it would be an issue. I made sure to use vitamin e oil (from those small gel-caps) every day, in conjunction to the polysporin that the doctor recommended. I have more than full 'coverage' when flacid and probably coverage up to 80% of the head when erect.
I'll take some current photos and then I can show you before, after, and 3 years later.
... masturbation is bliss with a foreskin... and no, my head has never been too sensitive, since I did not have a full circumcision. The foreskin protects the glans from keratinization and desensitization that would occur when one's prepuce is taken away.
I think one reason why doctors tent to lean towards a full circ. is probably partially due to the time and labour, and precision, required in performing a free-hand partial circumcision. Like I say, my only regret is that I ever had to have anything done at all - sometimes you just have to make the best of the situation and make an educated decision. Don't settle for less.

David;)

chadhanes (or David?) thanks for your prompt response... My urologist is very persuasive about performing a full circumcision on me, and I am not sure about the glans desensitization issue... after what you've told me, I definately think I should get a second opinion where I can suggest the partial circ, it sounds really promising. I just hope I am candidate for it (fingers crossed)

Alright, here are those before pictures that I promised (from 2006/7).
About the whole depression thing - That was really what prompted me to go the the doctor. I was in my first relationship and was terrified about having to tell my boyfriend about my health condition. Can you imagine being afraid of the possibility of sex??
(*8*) more pictures to come along with a description of the procedure.
David

chadhanes...

your second and third pics are EXACTLY what mine looks like right now

today I put the cream on for the first time but I dunno what difference I'm supposed to see in the coming 4 weeks before the meeting with the urologist

It's hydrocortizone... does anyone know what I should expect?

glad that you could go with a partial chadhannes, and thanks for posting the informative (and hot .. especially the last .. but that*s a different topic !oops!) pics.

Post Op. Photos.

Hey everyone,
So as promised here are several photos taken the day after (I believe) my partial-circumcision surgery. I actually didn't have that much skin removed, but with the swelling and tenderness, I couldn't pull it up !oops!

Regarding the hydrocortizone cream, this isn't medical advice, but my g.p. suggested that I apply it 3 or more times a day. Basically, a side effect of corizone creams is that it thins the skin out and makes it more flexible. The theory is that if you continue to apply it (all the time) you can give the ring that extra 'nudge' to relax and retract.
I find the whole subject fascinating. All boys are all born foreskine that have a similar ring to yours at the top of their penises, and it normally retracts before the age of around 8. Something like 4 percent only just become able to retract around the age of 18. So I always think... well you never know what will happen in a few years if you just let it be. I have heard amazing stories about 'stretching' with creams and having nice hot baths while tugging on the skin. The Japanese have even designed a device that slides under the skin and stretches it.
The problem seems to be, to me, that doctors don't quite understand that process. Doctors have (far too frequently) advised parents to forcibly retract their infants' foreskins, resulting in tearing, or phimosis later in life.
It is a generalization, but if you look at average circumcision rates of those in the age groups who are working as doctors and urologists in north america, it's no surprise that so many don't understand an uncut cock ;)
Not that I would ever look down on anyone who was cut, don't get me wrong, a dick is a dick, but it drives me crazy when someone refers to an intact male as "unnatural".

Let's drop the term 'uncut' and instead use 'intact' :D Nothing was done to us right?

Thank you for the pictures David... I noticed your fibrotic ring was located almost at the tip of the prepuce, mine is right in the middle and I didn't use to have it before, it just appeared last year right from nowhere. It lets me pull the skin down all the way when soft but not at all when hard. I promise i'll take some pictures and post them as soon as I can.

As chadhanes indicated, hydrocortisone has the side effect of thinning and softening the skin. It's used to shrink scars because of that side effect. The hope is that if the opening on the end of the foreskin (called the foramen) just needs to be loosened, then the creme will soften and thin the foreskin enough that you can stretch the foramen by running your finger between the foreskin and glans and gently stretching the foramen until it widens.

Alright, here are those before pictures that I promised (from 2006/7).

Thanks for posting the post-op pictures. It's very rare to see them because the penis is usually heavily bandaged and swollen after the surgery.

Doctors have (far too frequently) advised parents to forcibly retract their infants' foreskins, resulting in tearing, or phimosis later in life.

Teaching in the US is very poor because so many boys are circ'd in the US. I can't explain why it's not taught in countries like the UK where boys aren't routinely circ'd.

The foreskin is attached to the glans when a boy is born. Between age 8-12, a separation forms between the foreskin and the glans and the foreskin slowly becomes mobile. At this point, boys should be taught to begin sliding their foreskins back and forth. It's also the time when boys should be evaluated for phimosis and treatment begun. It just confounds me that we have so many guys in their late teens and early twenties who are becoming sexually active and who discover that they have phimosis that requires surgical intervention.

The other related problem is frenulum breve. This is where the frenulum that attaches the glans to the foreskin on the underside of the penis is too short. This prevents the foreskin from retracting. It usually requires a trim of the frenulum but too often, it is referred for circumcision instead of frenulumectomy.

Urologists aren't the problem. It's usually pediatricians, although this is getting much better.

The thing that I noticed that makes chadhanes very fortunate is that he had a large amount of foreskin and a fibrotic ring that either incomplete or very near the foramen.

Below is a picture of the problem that often triggers a circumcision. In this case, the fibrotic ring is complete and it is smaller than the head of the penis when erect. What can happen is that the forekin is retracted when the penis gets hard. You can tell from the picture what happens... and it's very painful and can cause damage to the shaft and glans if not treated.
